I completely went through this in Utica,NY public school district … it hurts and it makes you feel less than and unable to feel enough. I was always taught you are a BLACK YOUNG GIRL which means you have to work 10 times harder than your white counterparts… it’s sad ! I had a white best friend in elementary school and time after time she got favored and her work was never upstanding. Here now in 2024 I obtain my PhD, psychologist, licensed cosmetologist, and happier than ever. When I look back at all my white counterparts I see they haven’t reacher or be successful in their careers or lives. Overall, resilience and determination is always needed for black individuals! The hate and racism is still going on today and it pains me and my heart everyday!
