I sold my Ruger Ranch American 7.62x39 even with the mini thirty mags and kept the CZ 527. Also SKS’s are not trash at all with the box magazine and stripper clip you’ll never get a malfunction even one made in 50 years ago. Opposed to a brand new AR locking up over headspace issues, just saying. Great video!

I met a gentleman back in Oct. at the gun range that had the carbine wood stock iron sights one. He had a scope on it and that thing was a tack driver at 100 yards with steel cased Wolf and Tula ammo. If I didn’t see it myself, I’d never of believed it.

  • @portugal5698
    @portugal5698 Год назад +5

I can definitely see myself owning one of these in 7.62 one day. I’ve read nothing but good things about everything these guys make, especially their one-of-a-kind upgraded Mauser-style actions w/ a simple, yet nostalgic look. The price range on almost every one of their products also speaks volumes as one will be shocked to learn that a rifle that normally would sell for $1.5K-$2K from Winchester, Remington, or Browning is practically the same quality one would get from this spec for almost half that amount, *SOMETIMES EVEN LESS!!!!!*. Now, when it comes to scopes, there are really only two options I would really recommend that work very well. Those 2 are IMO the Weaver “high-rings” w/ the tiny gap underneath for immediate access to both open sights and scope w/out throwing off your “zero-hold,* while the second option we have is the Weaver “old school style” side-scope mount (2 pieces) and actually my fav scope mounting option in general. Granted, I wouldn’t personally go around drilling side mount brackets/bases on every gun I own, especially the rare or more expensive ones, but at the end of the day, it does make for the most practical optic system one could think of!! I also believe that it compliments older style, antique-esque rifles (like this one was modelled after) very well and makes for a very deadly, bada** setup to add to any collection.

I have that CZ 527 in 7.62x39 inTurkish Walnut for about 3 years now and very happy I bought it. Beautiful rifle with very nice set trigger. Light, easy to carry and shoots cheap steel ammunitions accurately. I got it for a good price inside MCX and I’m waiting to get my next one chambered in 223. I still shoot it with iron sights until this video gave me an idea on what scope and rings to use. Thank You for this cool video. 👍🏽

Great channel btw keep em coming...

Say bud. You should tap the top and side of the scope rings with a screw driver handle or pocket tool after each adjustment. This allows the adjustment springs to settle prior to recoil. I had two competitive shooters tell me this years ago. This way you are not "in the rears" adjustment wise.

Just to add my two cents, if you can take that bolt to a gunsmith and have it angled down a further five degrees, I think that would pretty much eliminate the tight clearance with the scope. Save you the trouble of having to source a different optic to suit the rifle.

Bought my 527M walnut stock carbine about five years back, after being on a waitlist almost a year. Mounted a Leupold 6X compact scope on it, and it is a great, light (6 lb) rig. Everyone who sees it wants one. After having it a while, I noticed that if you compare it to a Ruger 10-22 Deluxe Sporter, it has an uncanny resemblance. As noted, the trigger is just superb, as good as a target gun. I shoot the Golden Tiger ammo, and I am thinking I get a little under 2 MOA groups at 50 yds - but overall love the gun. Need to try some other types, but I have a bunch of the Golden Tiger, shoots well in my N-PAP. I consider the 7.62x39 round to be a great choice for availability and cost, and in many instances more effective than the .223. This handy little rifle is great looking, accurate and fairly powerful. Can easily take deer at 200 yds.

Nice to see you finally got a 7.62x39 bolt action. I'm still loving my Ruger American Ranch- only issues I have had with mine are due to using Promag mags in it- the Promag ruger mini 30 mags don't have the curve like a stock ruger mini 30 mag, so sometimes a couple of the top rounds are hard to chamber. I think they may wear in a little over time, and be better. Until then, I will just deal with it.

I bought one of these 527’s in 6.5 Grendel used a couple of years back with the walnut stock. It had a Vortex scope on it. The previous owner had put a 1/2” tall rail on it and higher rings on it. When you went to take aim you had to search for the scope, which takes longer to get on target. I’m sure they did this because of the bolt problem. I had to cut it off with a sawzaw blade, without the sawzaw. Couldn’t get the scope zeroed. They had tightened the rings so tight that it collapsed the scope. It had the original CZ mounts in the box with it. I sent the scope back and Vortex sent me a new one. But while waiting on the new scope, I installed a Burris that I had on my AR Grendel, used the original rings and corrected the problem. The bolt had 1/2” clearance between the scope now but was the correct height. It’s a wonderful rifle. I convinced that the owner sold it because it was all jacked up and someone at the gun shop suggested a high rise rings and a 1/2” base, then collapsed the scope so it couldn’t be sighted in. This rifle was new and I really enjoy it. I’m glad that whoever had it had screwed it up. It’s a tack driver and very sweet.

Rooski loads, get a bad rap because usually, there is spread in groups. It's more to variations in powder dispensing, than defective projectiles or other such gripes.
I have several PA-63's, shooting 9x18 Makarov. The other, a CZ 82 and out of all the pistols I've ever had, save for a S&W Model 66, with a very expensive trigger job, that CZ'S trigger is crisp, machined to an art, and it's a standard, I paid $179.00 at J&G years ago for it, with a half dozen PA-63's @ $99.00 each.
My point is, CZ don't make no junk, and I'll take an all steel military tool any day over plastic, but that's a preference for another day, just sayin...but, if you want to see similar CZ tight, go check Buffalo's bench tests at 100 yds., with that CZ 22LR! He's testing over the counter 22lr, and his groups are astounding.
Your rifle, is spitting pills with similar "ya gotta be kiddin me" groupings.
I watch all the well known bench loaders, and they'd be thrilled if their handloads could match that C'S performance.
      TIGHT---IS RIGHT!

Bit throw versus 'Scope'. I first had a SIG brand scope with large objective dial. Looks similar to the one you have. Bolt would not clear the scope and after installing the scope I could not install the bolt. Gun shop accepted the SIG scope as return and sold me (with the return money) a Burris scope which does clear. :rimshot!: Lovely rifle and scope arrangement.
Put me down as in favor of the CZ company and the Model 527 in particular. Have to write a article on my blog about accuracy and steel case ammunition. Oh. Tula makes a 7.62x39mm round with a 154 grain bullet. Averages 2150 fps from my 527 carbine. Puts it in low end .30-30 Winchester category. Happy New Year!

Been using Warne for decades and they are very very very good rings. Never needed more ring. Back when everyone was talking about Badger Ordinance, I figured I could find something just as good if not better for less. That was when I found Warne. My AR 10 has a Warne 1 piece QD scope mount with a Vortex in it. Awesome awesome scope mount.
I'm not super super familiar with CZ but you should be able to take the bolt apart and remove the bolt handle, heat it up and bend it further away to the right or down depending on how you're looking at it.
Do that or see if there is an aftermarket with a straight or curved down bolt handle. Or if you aren't comfortable bending it yourself, take it to Jeff Walley at I think Guns and Leather in Greenbriar.
Any of those will fix your bolt handle clearance issue.

These are designed for .311 rounds so combloc steel case ammo/military loads are a great choice. Some of the north american brass loads may not be as accurate as they are loaded with a .308 bullet. Might try taller rings to clear the bolt handle better but you may need to add a cheek pad for proper cherk weld. Can never go wrong with cz. As a Marine in the 70's a combat sling used in all shooting positions? Off hand, kneeling, sitting and prone at 200, 300 and 500 yards rspid or full auto with the M-14 a tight combat sling allow the body to rock to the same position and spot well, if you had good dope on elevation and windage clicks were correct on your open sights! No scopes! Or else everyone would've shot expert! Thank you for the scuttle butt on the rifle! And the worlds most produced round 7.62 X 39!

Easiest way to sight-in, is to set the scope in the center of the target, fire on round, put the crosshairs back in the center and move the reticles until they are in the center of the bullet hole. Now you will be dead on. No figuring how many clicks left/right/up and down.

I was shocked at how well a $79.00 SKS shot and grouped with just open sites. That was back in the day when 7.62X39 was copper washed steel and about $90 for a thousand rounds. It was very affordable to go to the range and have several hours of fun. I wasn't expecting much for $79 bucks but it turned out to be a reliable gun at a real budget price. The Russian one's cost a little more and seemed a little more polished than the Chinese version but I haven't had any failures and they seem to still shoot as well as they did from new.

I have this same rifle, bought it several years ago. Except it has a wooden stock. Brazilian walnut I think. GREAT rifle. The instructions say that the rifle may shoot steel cased surplus ammo more accurately than hunting ammo. CZ designed the rifle this way intentionally. It has something to with the shoulder and/or angle of steel versus brass. I believe there is also a slight difference in the size of 7.62 bullets. European bullets (.311) versus American (.308). Perfect mountain/scout rifle where shots are in wooded areas and usually less 150 yards. Even though the round is very effective to 225 yards. Very light rifle, kind of like a bolt action 30-30. I have a 2x7 scope on it, which is perfect for that terrain.

Good shooting!! There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 7.62X39 caliber! It's a good general purpose hunting caliber and just a blast (so to speak...lol) to shoot!! I do see that there seems to be a little feeding issue where the bolt is catching a little bit during feeding. Otherwise it seems like a really nice rifle. I noticed when you showed the package for the Warne rings that it was a medium height - did you consider may the high or extra-high rings? That might help give a little more clearance for the bolt from the scope... just a thought.

The biggest complaint I've heard about steel cased ammo is it's hard on extractors. And a suspicion about corrosive primers. CZ rifles in 7.62x39mm are claimed to CZ to be built with steel case ammunition in mind. Never had a problem yet.
Set trigger vs unset trigger. Looking from here, the two groups are nearly the same size. I suggest the difference may be in the grouping ability of the ammo. Consider if one ran ten or so 5 shot groups on different days. One could 'average' the groups and likely have a better real life expectation of results than a single (each) group. That does get expensive.
