Lyrics: I am my own God Master slave and I will be beyond the grave No one will take my soul away I carry my own will and make my day I am my own God See the truth beyond Through endless lies thy kingdom come Glorified wisdom illumination tool Self deceit it's the golden rule Live your life you're gonna die your own death There's no one above that's gonna take your breath May the evil drown in its source I dip my forefinger in the watery blood Of your impotent redeemer And write over his thorn torn brow The true Prince of Evil What man's created Man can destroy Bring to light That day of joy
I bought the movie Phantasm yesterday. The melody that was repeatedly played sounded familiar but I couldnt tell where I heard it before. During the climax when the drums and bass kick in along with the melody it was unmistakable! It transferred to metal so nicely too.
Gotta love those buzzsaw guitars. Its the classic Boss Hm-2 heavy metal pedal with dials turned all the way to the right. Just a classic brutal sound. Many swedish bands and many others used the pedal but the most notable and upfront usage though imo was by Entombed and Edge of Sanity.
@@maat8249 Though they may have used it on their first album, I hear it starting with their 2nd album Unorthodox. It becomes very prevalent on following albums such as Spectral Sorrows, Purgatory Afterglow, and Crimson etc.
@@hellfire8883 But I mean have they confirmed this, because to me it really doesn't sound like an HM2? The first and third albums have a really thin guitar tone, Unorthodox, yeah, could be. Just making sure.
Amazing music. I tried this album some years ago, when I was listening mostly to Death and Morbid Angel but couldnt get into it. So I tried again and all the recognision wasnt in vain, at all
i love this song so much now as an adult. but i will never forget, as a child i had a dream i was in the environment you see on the album cover. MANY years before i ever even saw this album cover. i always get a strange feeling in my soul when i hear this song and look at this cover. paranormal...
while listening to this, around 12:33-35 pm the bathroom light that i had on shut off twice&the television that i had running in my kids room turned off &my cellular phone disconnected from the Internet for a min or so while i was in the kitchen waiting for my ramen to get done. i figured it was a power outage of some kind but the microwave &oven& lights in the living room didn't flicker or turn off.
Nihilist and Left hand Path are what got me into Entombed but Clandestine is arguably their best work. Brilliant from start to finish, Sinners Bleed/Evilyn is tough to beat..
Age 51 with two heart attacks behind me this still gets the blood and fist pumping.
Bro I am 50 waiting for the heart attack not looking forward to it
47, smoking and drinking since 15, and waiting for this song to hit me properly!
The third must come❤❤❤
Those three hearts are symbolic❤❤❤
Man, this is probably one of the most beautiful metal songs, in my opinion.
Lyrics:
I am my own God
Master slave and I will be beyond the grave
No one will take my soul away
I carry my own will and make my day
I am my own God
See the truth beyond
Through endless lies thy kingdom come
Glorified wisdom illumination tool
Self deceit it's the golden rule
Live your life you're gonna die your own death
There's no one above that's gonna take your breath
May the evil drown in its source
I dip my forefinger in the watery blood
Of your impotent redeemer
And write over his thorn torn brow
The true Prince of Evil
What man's created
Man can destroy
Bring to light
That day of joy

i thought i liked the song before learning the lyrics but now i love it 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
This is a certified Nietzsche moment
Damn, the lyrics are just as good as the song
Rest in Power, Lars 🤘🖤🤘 Thank you for the music 🙏🙏
all hail the Boss HM-2 \m/
Rest In Power Petrov 💔
Had the privilege of seeing this band live for the first time in the last year. What grace, grit, and groove. The bassist is incredible.
Saw them live back in 93 at the whiskey a go go

Jim R. Is that about the dude who sells his soul ??
@@LeRoge01 nah, its about a funeral home turning the corpses into little midget slaves...as weird as that sounds haha
The band Eroticide also does s version of the Phantasm theme, very much worth a listen!
i've discovered this citation today :D
after 30 years i had the Entombed Vinyl
(and thought it was an original part ) :D
Dude thankyou! I've been trying to figure out which horror movie I recognized that from. At first I was thinking maybe The Exorcist 😅
R.I.P. Lars Göran Petrov, we have lost a legend that he will never die.
@@slipknotduality5784 WHAT????? Noooooooooooooo.....
Do you know what caused his death?

i am noticing now
:D after 30 years :D
that this part is from the "Phantasm" soundtrack
This song has a weirdly spiritual quality I've never heard on death metal before
Listen to morbid angel?
Or fatal, michigan.
Absolutely true. You couldn't said it better.
Best Swedish death metal album, and top 3 death metal albums ever. Rest in festering slime Lars Petrov 🤘🏻😢
Heard this album when it was new and it remains a classic R.I.P.
3:56 could have came straight out of an old school horror movie!
It's the theme from the film Phantasm.
DysfunctionalDennis Oh. That’s cool!
duh!
@@DysfunctionalDennis wooosh?

essa parte instrumental a partir dos 4 min pra mim é uma das mais belas da história do metal, independente de gênero, é simplesmente épico!
Sound very gothic metal
One of the greatest death metal songs ever recorded!
A classic song that has been coming down generations!Still alive in celebrating for all those who fairly love heavy music.

They actually play this better live, which is insane!
joya de los 90
Even though personally I don't subscribe to their point of view on life and the world, In think the music is nice.
Classic
Lars Petrov vocal is like a combination of Quorthon + Tom Angelripper
And that’s a good thing as they both rule
Well said and great places to take inspiration from
My finest pardon… just where is Quorthon’s vocal influence is in this?! This sounds like Cookie Monster 🤣🤣 Quorthon sounds like a goblin 👹
