I was a care and support worker for the elderly for 10 years. Some elderly people are SO lonely and a chat with them can truly make their day. Please respect your elders and give them the time of day, you can change their life.
I used to be a CNA (it was my coworkers and their apathy and sometimes MALICE that led me to quit), and those patients LOVED me. They just wanted to talk and share stories, be wheeled outside to smoke their cigarettes. I often thought about what I'd want if I were alone, or in a facility with no one to speak to.
