Yes, I was a freshman at GSU in 1977. There used to be the Bayou Classic parade, a battle of the bands, a beauty pageant, a step show and even a basketball game the night before the football game. In those days, the Classic was really almost a weeklong experience.
This is one game I look forward to every year. Always had much respect for the late coach Robinson. ALways wanted to go to grambling...and this made my high school guidance consouler (however you spell that word) do a double take. A white guy wanting to go to a traditionally all black school.
GSU precisely running the Wing T with Doug Williams and SU in the wishbone with the short QB's (lol), great marching bands and an awesome weekend of football. These were good times. Awesome post.
I remember miss Vidal Rankin our former miss southern UNIVERSITY....BRING BACK THE miss BAYOU CLASSIC pageant.

What's the song being played at 4:12?
I would rather have the 1976 event set up rather than now. Plllllleeeeeeaaaasssseeee bring back the 1976 event set up, it seems a lot more crunker.
