- My cousin just bought a 2008 Yamaha Raptor 700R. He stores it right around the block so I rode over one evening and took it for a test spin.

I acquired a Yamaha Raptor 700r a couple of days ago. It's a beast of a quad in any language. Mine has a widened wheel base for stability and road racing tyres. I can't help but notice that if you were giving it 100% throttle, it sounded to me like the 'rev limiter' screw on the throttle control assembly, was set well below 100%. New riders to the Raptor can experience a less beast-like response, just by winding the screw down some more. Reverse gear is a bitch, but think of it like this. Reverse sits below first gear physically, but is prevented access by an electro-mechanical gate mechanism. When placed in first gear with clutch in, the gate (when activated) opens to allow you to simply kick one gear down past the gate. You have to be in first gear ready to move one down into reverse. If you're in neutral, you will effectively kick it down to first and not reverse. This is my experience, hope it helps others.

If you haven't figured out the reverse yet, once your in first gear ( under neutral ) you twist the reverse button and down shift again. And to get out of neutral just upshift back to first gear. Just got a 2017 raptor 700 for Christmas. Have fun!

depends on his skill level. my son is 14 and is 5'10 165. if he was trained properly i think he could for sure.
Nolan Kendel I'm 15 and getting one this summer. I've been riding quads for like 5 years now. Have you rode before? It's not a beginner bike what so ever. It will keep up and beat stock banshees. Best thing to do is go sit on one and see if it fits your size. If so try to test ride it. Aslong as you are good with the clutch and everything

I had a 660r, took it back in 6weeks. When they first came out.
My son 17 at the time, novice rider. Flipped it 3x. My self, expert rider. Lost it 2x.

I have to say my initial thoughts were ‘well that looks slow’. Nippy if you’re used to cars, dog slow if you’re used to bikes I guess.

For a car that's base Corolla slow, but for an offroad vehicle doing that time in the dirt, it's good

@@lecoureurdesbois86 for an offroader thats very slow isnt it? i have a cr125 that hits 90 in much less time than that. but then again i guess its a motocross bike so its geared for tight tracks. i.e acceleration not top speed. as it stops dead in its tracks at 90. gets there like lightening then hits a brick wall and wont go faster. i am happy with that though, acceleration is far more fun than top speed, safer too.

People, hear me out, especially if you are a rookie with quads/bikes and you are looking to buy one of these!
I wanted a quad for a Long time and once I got some spare money I wanted o buy a quad, some Chinese model with 200kw or so, just to drive around and get used to it.
Then a friend of mine who knows about bikes told me "Maaaan if you are buying a quad you need to buy THE REAL DEAL and that is Yamaha Raptor"
So I checked it out, saw all the videos about it and was like Yeeeeeah I'm gonna ride it so bad like these guys I see on videos.
I had it for 15 days and I had like 4-5 rides before I fell into a BIG HOLE like 4 meters deep.
I was speeding like a moron because this machine ASKS FOR MORE THROTLE, it is amazing really, IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT.
While I was flying towards the ground aside my quad (And that was like 1 second, or maybe 2), the only thing that was going thru my mind was "This is it, I'm dead, this is how I die"
Luckily I just had a totally destroyed knee and I am still recovering, it was 2.5 years ago. It will never recover to how it used to be, but I am really grateful to God that it was just a knee, I'm happy to be alive :)
You need to hear this also, just to think thru if you still want to buy a monster like Raptor and don't have much experience.
After the first operation, witch took place 10 days after fall I spent 3 months in bed, laying on my back because I couldn't move to side, not to mention stomach. First month I had to take a pee in bed, in medical bottle because I couldn't go to bathroom!!!
You think that this corona lockdown was bad, just imagine spending all of that time in bed, unable to do anything on your own, you would literally die if you don't have someone to look after you :D
Months and months of therapy and walking with help of those hand sticks and to cut the already long story short, I got to just one conclusion - IT WAS TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT. :D :D And thank you God for helping me in that situation
How do you switch from reverse to a gear? Mine is STUCK! I can’t get it out of reverse!
Do the raptor 700 R’s come with the speedo/tachometer? We are looking to get one but it wil, probably be around this year model

Hey man put it in neutral and then put it in reverse. You were doing everything correct just make sure you’re in neutral. Lol be careful Yamahas got some real power man, have fun be safe! ALWAYS wear you gear!

With reverse on these things you gotta push it hard down while wholeding the reverse key and clutch

Sometimes you have to pop the clutch a little to put it in reverse.
Shift your weight and let the clutch out a little and it will fall right in reverse we wore out 3 of these brand new! Well sold one crash one and blew one up! 😂 And for the record mine was the one we sold it survived fine my nephews fucked theirs up rode them to death! But they young so they able to do shot like that I ain’t no more!

im 15 and own a raptor and a banshee and my honest opinion the raptors are fun for climbing hills on dunes in my opinion i think its way smoother and comfortable than a banshee
I love raptors and yfzs, but 2 strokes, especially a banshee are much more fun

Quick question how does one know when he should change into second gear while driving what’s the speed that makes one having to put it in another gear same thing with deceleration when to gear down at what speeds also should know also keep hold of the clutch at all time if not will it always stall
Usually when I ride I use the sound of the engine to tell when to shift up. Like when I’m first to second you can here the rpms climb but basically right before you “red line” on the quad. It’s kind of hard to explain but basically if it sounds like the engine is being red lines at a gear next time shift up before then and eventually you’ll just know. For down shift I usually just neutral and go all the way down but if I’m riding on slower gears down shift when you feel there isn’t enough power or right before

duh! it's made to ride off road. I own 1. and love it. u got to find some property near by to ride off road. hill climes are awesome. the power and size yea it's top heavy but I make up for it when riding just have to figure the small bull.

Enduro Skills I actually only rode it that one time. It was my cousins so I just took it for a ride one day. it's a nice bike though. I wish I could have taken it off road somewhere for a second video.

Enduro Skills I wish. he needed somewhere to store it. that's my aunt's house so he kept it there for a few weeks. and I wasn't gonna be that close to something like that and not see what the hype is about lol. I probably could get it again but my 1000cc bike is way more fun. so it doesn't matter either way. I've only rode big bikes like the prarie brute force Rincon etc so I just wanted to see what these types of bikes are like.

Bryshawn Brown I think he bought it from a on independent seller and not a shop. Its a 2008 model. It depends on what you want a bike for. If you want to go fast and hit up the trails it's perfect for that.

@@RaptorWRLD I know this is old but you're exactly right. I noticed in the video as well. I was in a field one time and hauling ass, came up on a pile of concrete blocks and had no choice but to ride it out. If I had been holding it like this, there's no way I could have stayed on the 4 wheeler.

Platmist they aren’t, I have a 2007 special edition, and I’m 13. I tear it up in the mountains, they’re actually really easy to learn how to ride, they handle amazing, would definitely recommend one

in the video you said this is ur first time being on a race quad ... well the raptor is not a race quad it's for cross country woods type of bike that is how Yamaha desgined the yfz 450 from Yamaha is a race bike right out of the box
Al Hagopian I have no idea. It is a family members bike that I took around the block one day. It has a 700cc motor and a clutch which in my book at least makes it a sport bike. Other than that I don't know anything about quads. I was just out having fun and seeing how fast it goes.

If it doesn’t go in reverse let go of the clutch then clutch it again and put it in reverse.
