I absolutely adore your large automaton bird in his beautiful cage. I’ve seen tiny antique ones in little boxes that pop up when opened, but yours is exquisite! His song and sound is phenomenal considering he’s very old; he preforms perfectly. I’ve been enjoying your vlogs and found you because I saw RUclips explores during lockdown who journeyed to abandoned locations including abandoned castles. The castles are usually overwhelming lovely and I couldn’t believe they weren’t being saved, so searched for videos of people saving them. Happily watching each vlog in order now, along with all you current episodes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, passions and talents with all of us dreamers.
Oh how I would love to visit that Charity Shop 💝. You do everything with such passion and heart Stephanie 💟. The love is in the detail - from setting a table, decorating or wrapping gifts. Just awesome. Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑 SA
Watching this during quarantine in Germany - I am so! Beyond! Grateful for your channel. It reminds me of what really matters most (to me) in life - friendship, joy and the ability to fill life with beauty inward and outward. Thank you for sharing your beautiful adventures with us. I just wonder what on Earth am I gonna do once I finished watching all your videos?? Maybe it would be time for me to get my own palace by then ;) All my love your way to all you beautiful hearts.
When Lord Melbourne was dying, Queen Victoria brought him a flappy bird. He was a nature lover, but was no longer able to go outside. This gift was a lasting happiness for him...a bit of kindness in history...e
I remember the emotion Queen Victoria expressed when she gave it to him. She wanted to hug him so bad and knew he was dying. Beautiful moment in the series. When i was watching Stephanie's vlog thats exactly what it reminded me of..thankyou for your comment , brought back a memory...love from Florida
I am so happy to have discovered your Chateau Diaries, I love your stories with your family and friends, and all the work you do. This is fantastic! and thank you for sharing all this!
Excellent work on Flappy Bird. Michael selected the perfect liquids and tools for the job. For cleaning larger old taxidermy, tapestry, or feathered items you can use a vacuum with a tea towel on the end. The towel will keep from ripping out fur, feathers, or fabric while lifting off the loose dust. Its a joy to see Flappy Bird look it's best after well over a hundred years of delighting generations. One must wonder for whom the bird was made for. Hmm. Cheers!
Is there anything Michael P. doesn't know how to put right? What a handy person he is to have around (sure you know that already!). p.s. My parrot was enthusiastically replying to flappy bird.
The Chateau Diaries I would love to bring my cranberry crystal for when you use that amazing table cloth . However my even getting to France isn’t likely but I dream …… I recently inherited a beautiful peachy pink French lace table cloth . Unfortunately I need some help to get out a few old ( I think wine stains ) . If you have any suggestions pls . I have soaked it in very gentle French lavender linen wash but it was infective .
@@brianbaron6847 try Oxyclean powder in very hot or boiling water, just let it soak about 5 hours. My 40+ year old vintage linen that had yellowed horribly came out wonderfully.
Thank you . This beautiful lace tablecloth is banquet size and has been in storage for over 40 years . So I hope to restore it properly . It was passed on to me because the person who inherited it , knew I was the person who would appreciate it the most .
Love it !... just wanted to give you a tip for your fabulously metal / brass items: try to avoid using highly abrasive scrubbing cloths, metal-bristled brushes, or steel wool; these will scratch the surface of the brass. To prevent tarnishing, a thin coating of linseed oil or mineral oil can be applied to clean brass with a soft terry towel 😊👍🏼❤️
I’m always in awe at the talents the two of you have. I’m a DIYer( lol) but not anywhere near you two. When you were showing the ingredients you were using I’m like oh no please don’t mix! When the dust was flying I’m sneezing ...lol. As always I enjoy watching you two together.I need a Stephanie and Michael in my life. Thank you for sharing🦋
I must say! This was one great and full session...lovin fluffybird, he looks happy, and his song is captivating! the guests, and the food, the pink lace tablecloth( with pink glassware...you do know the way of entertaining...I always feel I am with you....thank you for all you do....buck
WOW what a transformation with the bird and cage!! Altho I definitely had to turn the volume down almost off when the cage was being scrubbed with Steel Wool, ARGHHH that sound was like Nails on a Chalkboard 😬 Beautiful the end result, was very satisfying. Great job!!
I feel your pain at cleaning the cage, I volunteered to clean a brass bed warmer my parents picked up at a brocante a few years ago, took hours, luckily its sunny in the Dordogne and I could sit outside and do it!!!
The mechanical part of Flappy Bird is in really good condition. Often the bellow's are torn and can be a pain to repair. You're very lucky and so is Flappy Bird.
I wish you do this type of job in a specific area like outside where you can put all the dust somewhere else not in the beautiful room and with clothes for work not that nice. Also l wish you should have kept the edge, time antique patina of the cage. Beautiful bird.
An aerosol air blaster like is used to clean computer parts would have been a good first step. But why not do it outside to get rid of the dust. Nobody needs more dust inside. ☺
Sunshine Cleaning Cloth for Metals would have been a much more preservatory way to clean antique metals, and non-abrasive which is abusive to old metal and the surroundings. Just FYI
@@TheChateauDiaries Well, Stephanie, I can't lie...it does take some elbow grease to polish really old antique metals like your amazing automaton birdcage is made of. Smiles!

I think that I would love to see Stephanie and Michael as a couple. He has hinted at it many times but she ignores it. Oh well they are very good friends
Interesting about acetone, if you have had any crop-dusting oil on you, and even years later, if you get acetone in the same place, there is a one hundred per cent incidence of cancer...be careful...yes I saw your gloves, good Michael! Who's a good boy! Yes you are!!!

Great to see Brit army sweat - shirt 1
I got happy goosebumps around 14:18 when Michael said what he did, but Steph did not reply.
are braces, suspenders?
The only kind of bird that looks good in a cage :-)
I completely agree! That’s why l always longed for an automaton!
Except, one can see the uncleaned wires on the INSIDE, which now by contrast look even worse than before!

We call braces suspenders in the US.
Did anyone see the broken stem on Marie’s wine goblet?
THe original green velvet might have been dyed with arsenic,. This was widely used as a dye ib the 19th century.
