The Ukrainian diaspora need to get over their fear and return home to help in the fight for the future of their country and culture Not going home could lead to no more Ukraine If England invaded Ireland and I lived abroad I'd go straight home
My experience of working with Ukrainian refugees for two years straight showed that a lot of them (NOT all) don't speak Ukrainian on the first place, are ethnic russians who happened to permanently reside in Ukraine when the Soviet Union collapsed and automatically received Ukrainian passports but retained imperialistic russian mindset. They will never go back to fight for Ukraine because they secretly support Russia. True patriots of Ukraine have remained and are fighting.
Not everybody is like you. I met many Ukrainians. I also know many fled the war and paid to get out. some were and are russian sympathisers, yet the majority aren't. Many were and still are too young. Many are studying and will soon become much more useful than an infantry sildier could be! Some study to create defense weapons, some medecine... But some are just scared and have no training. Some are last survivors of their family. Some have major PTSD and other issues. But some are going to go back, eventually, maybe. Money is also often an issue for expats are now in countries not receptive to the workforce they represent, even if they are established dortors or have more than one master degrees. Plus there is hybrid warfare immigrations in these countries as well, compounding all this into a situation most people in the west aren't welling to wrap their heads around and understand effectively. Empathy is important here. Be careful when you feel like voicing such an opinion, it usually does more damage than it helps. It's more important to help expat Ukrainians to get back on their feet than it is to criticise them.
Many of the displaced Ukrainians living in Europe are contributing to Ukraine's victory from abroad. They are politically active, raising awareness, teaching us about their history, culture, and much more. Many of them raise funds here and directly support Ukrainian defenders. Remittances are a huge contribution. Of course, you will also find others, as in every society. 🇺🇦 Перемоги та миру всім українцям! 🇺🇦
A few points that I think can do with clarification: The Bulk Cargo Vessel “Ruby” is not “drifting around.” She was at anchor outside the 12 mile limit, in international waters, with a tow vessel on station should it be required to assist in light of the Ruby’s propeller and rudder damage. About 3 days ago, with more severe weather and sea conditions forecast, the Ruby was moved to a position roughly 2 - 3 miles off Margate shore to take advantage of the more sheltered waters, where she was securely re-anchored on good holding ground. The tow vessel remains on station. This was a thoroughly wise and seamanlike decision with consideration to the deteriorating conditions. The stories about the potential of explosion and the purported blast radius, along with dire predictions of a tsunami that would obliterate half of London, are fundamentally inaccurate and I believe are being exaggerated quite deliberately to destabilise the British people through an injection of fear. Just another piece of opportunistic hybrid war on Russia’s part, imho. The cargo is bagged and divided between 6 sections of the vessel, it is not in a single loose bulk hold. The divisions are structurally integral to the hull, they are 3 double skinned vertical bulkheads and a mid-level deck in each hold, so the cargo is in 3 discrete sections fore and aft, each section being further divided into a discrete lower and an upper section by the mid-deck. To make the product explode would require a fire to burn for a period of time beforehand. The vessel sustained rudder and prop damage through a partial grounding incident whilst underway, there is nothing to indicate that it has sustained any damage to any of its electrical systems or to it’s main engine, so the risk of fire is not any greater than at any other point in a normal cargo vessel’s lifespan. Using standard maritime industry projection tools for assessing hazardous cargo risks, due to the division of the cargo the actual projected radius of any damaging blast, in the event that the worst happened, is at most circa 1.6 kilometres. Another story that has been spread is the risk that Ruby presents to the wreck of the Richard Montgomery, which is a wartime vessel that sunk at the entrance to the Thames Estuary, with the majority of it’s 8,000 ton cargo of munitions intact. The Ruby is located over 35 miles from the Montgomery and presents no risk whatsoever to the wreck. On the subject of the throwaway statement by one of the guests, who said that Ukraine simply hasn’t got enough troops at the front and wasn’t acting like a nation facing existential threat, I’d like to point out that Ukraine has 4 Brigades of freshly trained and ready troops that have no equipment due to the delays in supplies, largely overdue from the USA. I’m afraid that that particular grumpy old man, who was very comfortable in knocking and on occasion downright misrepresenting the facts of various parts of the situation in Ukraine and Europe, did an excellent job of subtly sowing a vein of defeatism throughout the conversation. I have no clue who he is, or what he thinks he is, but I will not miss his falsely opinionated, patronising, dismissive attitude, should I have the great good fortune to overlook another interview with him. He’s probably a grumpy old man because he was told to cease his bs and shut-up a lot as a child, perhaps with good reason.
It seems like one of those guests just stopped here on a way to his real job at RTVI.. Every point he made was a “glass half empty”kind of thing.. Depressing the public in the middle of the war, in my opinion, is one of the most counterproductive things you can do.
Maybe it's because I'm a gloomy Finn -- always prepared for the worst possible outcome -- but I think it's important to get a realistic picture of what's going on and not default into complacency or false optimism. The problem in the West, in my view, is lack of urgency. You cannot snap out of it by sticking your head in the sand and hoping that the adults will take care of it. I live in a democratic country. The irony is that both guests are affected by the same contagious defeatism. Ukraine has no manpower shortage, otherwise it would mobilize women and men under the age of 27 already. As for an inevitable collapse of Muscovy that they do not see, there is a RUclips channel named Free Nations League where Jonathan could find plenty of fantastic native speakers standing for independent Tatarstan, Yakutia, Tuva, Buryatia and more.
I get your point -- it's a fine line -- but don't agree. As the panel said, the war is winnable but we aren't arming Ukraine to win. That's just the reality of the situation we're in. I also think that talking about Russia's imminent collapse might work against us because it's the last thing that American and German leaders want. They're so afraid of it, in fact, that they won't even allow Ukraine to strike back properly. The Russian empire has been collapsing for a long time and could continue to do so.
And again, comments disappear. No, they said that the war is winnable. We simply aren't arming Ukraine to win because major Western powers like the USA or Germany don't want Russia to lose. How to change that is the question.
Tuva, Pootler built a single train track section, with media and fanfare inauguration... "with his own hands" he did. Pointless, like the rest of his reign.

The Ukrainian war is in Europe! It is the Europeans who must support and fund the Ukrainians, not the US. If anything, the EU countries must increase their own budgetary allocations to defence, increase considerably arms manufacturing and stockpiles, increase the size of their armed forces and fund Ukraine to the necessary scale and purchase US made weapons to do so. Russia is not invading Alaska or Texas!

It is never too late. Watch Colonel Glenn Grant's answers in the UATV video "Why Is Western Aid to Ukraine ALWAYS Late?".
@@PandemoniumMeltDown The Ukrainian people should also watch that video but I doubt it has any significant reach in Ukraine.
@@vladimirnovakovic3495 I trust Ukraine is closer than people think to realize what they started at Euromaidan. We have to stop Muscovia from interrupting the process. Lots of issues, but then, look towards our countries, be honest... lots to do there as well. I often see Ukraine in front of issues we lag behind. Lots of honesty will be required, from us!
@@PandemoniumMeltDown no, the problem began with too early promises to Ukraine.
For people who love books, there is nice one from Brzezinski and in his book Ukraine is pivot country. Published in 1997, that is in Yeltsin's era, before NATO showed it is offensive international law breaking alliance.

Jonathan, these 2 guys are breaking my heart. If I were Europe, I wouldn’t want the fled Ukrainians. I would understand they’re young,&because they were raised with Russian overlords they don’t feel inclined to die for Ukraine. But I feel really sour offering them benefits for abandoning Ukraine.

You would like your government to curtail down freedom of speech? Stalin would be proud of you.
The Ukrainian diaspora need to get over their fear and return home to help in the fight for the future of their country and culture
Not going home could lead to no more Ukraine
If England invaded Ireland and I lived abroad I'd go straight home
Some lived where there is nothing left to return to.... a great many of them. Many already returned and are at the front...
Some questionable points made by the guests in this one imo.
Agreed. The idea of freezing the current line of contact is idiotic.
That's what happened after Putin's first invasion in 2014.
Who are these two? They really are defeatists. Well their democracy will go south if Ukraine loses...also.
Why would Russia agree to a freeze if they have the momentum? Do you think you can just pause a war if one side doesn't want to? Lol.
A few points that I think can do with clarification:
The Bulk Cargo Vessel “Ruby” is not “drifting around.” She was at anchor outside the 12 mile limit, in international waters, with a tow vessel on station should it be required to assist in light of the Ruby’s propeller and rudder damage.
My country needs me to be better informed and more engaged, active, and prepared than that.
@@henriikkak2091 Urgency is key, of course, but democracies are slow, there are internal struggles that are a war on it's own. The front is everywhere and one must consider all aspaect in real time. HOW I AGREE....who are they these interviewees????
True. Ukraine has a shortage of arms, equipment, logistics & ammunition needed to supply the available manpower.
Tuva, Pootler built a single train track section, with media and fanfare inauguration... "with his own hands" he did.
Pointless, like the rest of his reign.
Yes, you will find such speakers. Just like you can find speakers in US who are for peace deal with Russia.
In democracy, 0.1% of NGO can't represent whole population, even if you like political stance of that 0.1%. As simple as that.
Jonathan, this is disgusting. They’re experts, right?!
What are you talking about?
Enjoy your winter. And we'll enjoy ours.
Budapest memorandum look it up. It was a guaranty of US protection that they are failing to met, and are not properly punishing Russia that broke that deal with the US. It is self interest for the US to help Ukraine for their contract to have any more value that the paper they are made up.
Putin already said he wants Alaska back... And he's fighting America through it's 'puppet states' But sure... It's all just in Europe...
@@vincentperron6594 A memorandum is not a treaty. It doesn't have any legal force. And it was a two-way guarantee - promising that neither Russia nor the US would interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, Ukraine, or Kazakhstan. @@1llus1ve Of course it do not have legal force, it is a deal with different contry, who would enforce it? god? It need the signatory to enforce it temselve by punishing breach, it is the point.
