For those wondering why she roller set and then flatironed, its to keep the moisture in your hair versus drying it out using a blow dryer. Its less direct heat on the hair and the style lasts much longer. Also when you blow dry since your drying out your hair you get much more breakage and split ends then roller setting. Your hair also looks and feels healther with this method.

A roller set prior to flat ironing is alot healthier chioice than the blow dryer. The blow dryer is more of direct heat on the hair where as a hooded dryer is not so much direct. The roller set is to stretch the hair. This method delivers less heat damage and more body and shine. But it most certainly will cost more.

Omg, thank you, why after the heat from the drier, you have to apply more heat with that flat iron, you women dont know after all that heat, by the time you get older your hair is so thin and weak, Just do the roller set and wrap it or leave it at that, some of these beauticians, just go over board, women please don't forget the older you get, the older your hair gets and it changes as well, just trying to help out, take care of your mane,

NO. These stylists don't care about nice roller set styles like soft curls, nice blowout with bumped ends, beach wave styles ..etc. They have a "Straight Hair" mentality and have to use that Flat Iron and even talk clients into straightening their hair. ONLY natural hair Salons that actually Do Natural Hair and care for natural hair will do a Rollerset as what it actually is---A HAIR STYLE.

Back when I still got relaxers this was my go to style. My stylist called it the doobie wrap. She'd put my hair in all these big rollers and put me under the dryer. After I was completely dry then she'd take me out, take out the rollers and wrap my hair around with saran wrap. A lil more dryer time then my wrap would be done and so bouncy. I loved it but now I love my natural more.

I see everyone in the comments saying the SAME thing. A roller set was to help stretch and straighten the curly texture without direct heat from a blow dryer plus flat irons which can cause heat damage. The client also needed a TRIM you can't trim the ends after a roller set you need to straighten it to make the hair even. It is common sense and you don't need to be a stylist to know that.

I get my hair done like this with a light blow dry before flat iron. There is no damage. My stylist use a chi heat protective before roller setting and before applying heat. I have been getting this for about eight years. My hair is almost to my waist. It is healthier because the blow dryer is whAt damages our hair when it it wet. I love my hair now.

I have a question for everyone who is against this method. Have any of you went to school for 8 hours a day for a year to get 1500 hours, also did you stand a room with professional judges and take a stat border exam? If your answer is no STOP TALKING as a stylist myself I see the benefits of this method I like Ms. Eden went to school studied our butts off to work and develop the knowledge to retain, build, and keep our clients hair healthy. Be it natural or Chemically treated. And as a side bar to my natural hair ladies if you have color in your hair STOP SAYING YOU ARE NATURAL, at the moment you put and chemicals in your hair it's no longer natural. To be natural is free of any chemicals the only thing in your hair are your natural oils and a few more you add THAT'S IT. Again I make this post to say stay in your lane and leave it to the professionals who worked and studied for 1500 hours and paid a lot to do so. Have a great night😤😤🤗🤗😘😘😌😌😌

Yes if you apply a serum before rolling then brush and detangle thoroughly to the ends then proceed to roll. Her hair texture only requires water but with 4c or rather say ole School terminology Coarse hair requires something that will soften and condition the hair prior to roller setting. Embrace your coarse hair as long as it’s healthy you too can achieve this style.
