I finally got into Initial D a year ago and can proudly say this is one of the greatest depictions of racing ever. While an El Camino will forever be my dream car, an FC savannah is a close second. Takumi plays the psychological game, without even realizing he's doing it. In 99% of his races, he begins by being behind his opponent. The opponent goes into a false sense of security, the 86 is slow, the race is in the bag... then the first turns come. The 86 has just gained back all the ground it had lost as soon as the turns are over. Every turn, every drift, every move the 86 does, its flawless. The opponent is seeing it all happen, he turns up the heat, he needs to step up his game or the 86 might overtake him. But no matter what he does, no matter that he is pushing his car faster than ever, the 86 is always right behind him, waiting for a mistake to overtake him. Takumi is basically Jason Vorhees of racing.
Its just fiction. Cool and all but its fiction, based on real thoughts. There was a real man that used to have inferior cars 85% of his career yet when it was raining or in turns, he was the king of the tracks. If you're Brazilian I don't think I even need to say his name because its written in the stars already. Hint: the Japanese still loves the man just like your country do.

Graphics of first was bad but the season was still the best, then 2nd stage was a little less ugly, 3rd stage was a gorgeous animated movie, then 4th was a blend between 4th stage and asseto corsa on PC, so slightly less good, then 5th they made the characters ugly but, thr cats looked great, final stage was slightly improved graphics, and when I say slightly I mean just a tiny bit, but 5th and final was still good.

This just takes me back to my childhood playing that one mountain pass boss race in Need for Speed Cargon against the Audi. It was utterly merciless and pretty much required exactly this sort of bumper to bumper blocking to have any chance to win. Good if frustrating times
