      @@TomtheTaxiDriver Agreed, I don't mind a walk but I'd have to be really broke for TFL not to get a fare from Holborn to Lancaster Gate on that one. Having said that although I don't live in the city I have the advantage of having been there enough to have a vague idea where the tube stations and such actually are. Turns out London's transit system is way easier to navigate practically if you don't trust any of their diagrams which will absolutely not tell you that a line you can use is probably quicker to walk to than the change of train is.

    One morning, I had some comically bad luck with the cabmen's shelters. I rode into town, over Battersea Bridge, right onto Cheyne Walk, & the shelter had scaffolding up around it. So, left into Flood Street, Sydney Street, Thurloe Place, then right out in-front of the V&A only to discover that a car had crashed into the one there. Beauchamp Place, & the Pont Street one was getting a fresh coat of paint. Then down Lyall Street, left into Eaton Square, & I finally managed to have breakfast at the one on Grosvenor Gardens. Later that day I found myself on Hanover Square & found the cabmen's shelter currently in the process of being relocated round the corner because of Crossrail.

    Hello! I work around central London and often wonder about the Taxis who are covered in adverts. Could you do that with your cab if you wanted? How is it decided what is advertised on them? Do the companies advertising have to pay for them to restore them to black or are they just permanently converted from advert to advert? So many questions! (Love the channel btw) :)

    • @TomtheTaxiDriver
      @TomtheTaxiDriver  2 года назад +26

      They vary depending on whole wrap or just the little sides. In my mind they don’t pay enough. It’s effectively a moving billboard so a prime bit of real estate.
      There’s a few companies that manage the advertising in taxis, they get the contracts from companies and then distribute out to the drivers who are enrolled in it.
      Most people keep their contract rolling but the company can request you come in at any point to have your advert changed, it’s a pretty efficient operation but a bit tedious having to drive there sporadically to get it done.
      For me, a clean plain black taxi is the best form of advertising.

      @@TomtheTaxiDriver Thank you for the link! You only have insight on UK (and that makes full sense!) What I mention is actually a general one for most of the world. Including South EU.
      The "small bonus" of starting a journey vs the complete chaos of waiting for a customer and lack of customers is just not enough compared to what they get by stretching the ride.
