    This gives me an inexplainable vibe, magical, mysterious, mystical and it feels like it’s totally from another dimension, like we’re not supposed to hear it. It makes me feel like im isolated in a forest with no humans but only me and the souls of the flowers and trees and insects, surrounded by golden butterflies that glimmer in the dark reflecting the waters with the shooting stars, honestly, I don’t mind staying in that place my mind created forever.

      George Washington Carver rose at 4 am every day to walk in his GA woods. He created >500 shades of dyes from plants working round the clock for something like a week during WWI when it had become scarce. Book 'Secret Life of Plants' Thompkins & Bird gives a whole chapter to him. It was said he communed with faeries.

    I a going to play this to my lavender plants and see how they grow. I will make medicine and tea out of those flowers and play the music while making the medicine. I believe that we are receiving knowledge from the plants on a physical level not jus the intuitive. This is adding a new dimension to healing . My culture teaches to always ask the plant permission. I have not had a plant say no when I use My Bamboo M. So far the birds listen to the music and sing along. The horses just stand by the fence while the music is playing and listen. It is truly amazing. The Lavender music is more laid back than Parsley. Lavender puts my husband to sleep. I start my day with Parsley. Thank you Shane waiting for an album.

      Dear Susan, Thank you for sharing your experiences and creating your medicine with the music.I’m honoured! I definitely believe in the idea and concept of reciprocity, I too will check in with the plant before I venture to collaborate with it. It’s most important to extend compassion and care to all forms,living and non living.After all, I see the magnitude of creation is embodied in all forms, connected through the music and rhythm from waves and particles. :) More music coming soon!

    This is one of the most beautiful and haunting tracks I’ve ever heard. I TRULY love and adore it. It is VERY well done! It is extremely unique not only in sound but it’s creation as well! I easily imagine an animation of a girl wandering through an abandoned down, or factory or mine….finding news papers of old town tragedies and mysteries, bones, ripped up clothes, barricaded houses and bent weapons even as she searches more. For the pretty piano parts…there are glistening spider webs, pools of dripping water, sun streaming down through cracks and holes in the ceiling and even reflecting off crystals in mines, or off metal as well.

    Beautiful Shane (and plant orchestra)! I wonder, it looks like there are plants observing/listening while lavender plays, we do know that plants are always in communication chemically (airborne) if not by roots; so does the herb garden listen to each others’ compositions, and can the lavender hear itself while playing ?

      There is not enough data to confirm that yet , but i'd like to think that they do react to their environments and get informed by the bioelectric fields of other plants so therefore to the music that they create.

      Hi Muppets! The Biofeedback sensor is picking up fluctuations in the bio electricity of the plant. These fluctuations are then converted to control voltage that is used to modulate and create musical variation, pitch and rhythms that are applied creatively to generate music.

    i wonder what would happen if the lavendar was isolated from it's own music. Would there be less change? can the plant somehow respond to the physical vibrations and choose what it likes to feel? it would be interesting to record repeat performaces with and without sound isolation

  • @maureenruggeri5026

    Is most of what we hear the actual plants or are there added sounds?

    • @shanemendonsa
      @shanemendonsa  2 года назад +1

      Hi Maureen! The plant is triggering different aspects of the synths to create the evolving music some of which are pre added sound sources loaded into a sampler or sometimes a simple synth oscillator . This is done by extracting musical data from the bio electrical patterns emitted from the plants via a biofeedback sensor. This data is used to generate pitch, rhythm and modulation that is assigned to the system to allow the plant to perform and modulate the sources that helps create the music. Cheers.

      Thanks Morel! There is only the Scion for Eurorack that I know off but I’m sure you might discover other types on the net. Cheers!

    Curious about the sensor. I'm a synth builder and player and i did experiments in biofeedback decades ago. Is it galvanic skin response? oh, i see, it's the instruo scion. Just searching scion wasn't much help.

      Anybody know if this module uses GSR? I sent them a request, crickets so far.

      Hi Cristol, Yes it’s based on the same or similar technology I believe.
