Willy, NATO bombed Serbia to help Kosovo to "self determination".
Willy, US, NATO, Australian soldiers, all committed horrendous war crimes during these last 20 years in multiple wars, often on film. NOBODY was punished.
The ONLY journalist who exposed them, your own countryman Julian Assange, was hunted for over 10 years and prisoned in solitary cell for many years.

Ukraine did not and does not have the necessary manpower to hold on to Kursk for long and Russia knew it from the start, they are okay with just containing the Ukrainians there while taking strategic towns like vulhedar in the meantime, and when they are done with those towns, they will come back for Kursk with a bloody ugly pincer to finish off all those elite forces Zelensky sent there!!! @@nerdynautilus5373 Yes that's true, but covering up war crimes means they will be committed again. It's not a new issue; Americans committed horrific war crimes in Vietnam too, and covered them up. Colin Powell helped cover up the My Lai massacre, and was duly rewarded by promotion and eventually raised to Secretary of State. While Cpt Hugh Thompson, who actually stopped the massacre, narrowly escaped a dishonourable discharge and was hounded by death threats for the rest of his life.
Only a tiny fraction of Western atrocities in Iraq have ever been investigated. And the problem here is that it creates an illusion in which the West regards itself as having a superior morality, while the rest of the world regards it as murderous and depraved.

The Greek of old would never do that - the Olympic games were holy, even sworn enemies were given free access to them, the athletes and spectators guaranteed no harm to and from the games. Our moral standards are failing, we are falling back into a more tribal attitude.
I think that we are seeing - not overnight but slow - the decline of human civilization and that ultimately will lead to the downfall of democracies as a form of government. There is a longer-term way out - over some decades, maybe half a century - but I think it will take a deep fall until some cells of humanity will accept that. But for now, we are stuck with atrocities being cheered on as long as the right side does them. If we are even lucky enough to go the right steps - or some of us are to do that against resistance.

I hoped, that this year IOC and other world sport organisations would stop this nonsense of mixing sport with politics.
Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. One cannot choose the country of one's birth.
Wars are run by politicians not sportsmen/sportswomen.
Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Pakistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag?
USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq.
Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them.
Interestingly enough Israeli sportsmen and sportswomen are allowed to play under the national flag in international competitions despite the policy of their government towards Palestinians in Gaza.

I think the time for democracy as we see it is coming to an end. I had this discussion yesterday with some group and the topic was really "would it be so bad if AI takes over governments" and the consensus was that with basic alignment and possibly a feudal system - build hierarchically with humans on the lowest level depending where they live - it would be vastly superior. We would be heard and represented to the level we make sense (not that this is less and less the case - making sense, that is).
Without that - between ideocracy and a tribal "my enemy is absolute evil" thinking... I think we humans face some really dark times. This will not stop - and we DO get AI now into the military - so wars will turn more into industrial output comparisons. We had our peak time between WW1 and WW2 - but since the 50s we are failing.

Back in 2014 when clashes between local Donbas and Luhansk insurgencies against Ukrainian regular army where happening they knew each other and where conducting ceasefires to let one sede recover killed and wounded or exchange captured soldiers. Unfortunately Ukraine integrated different Neo nationalist groups such as AZOV (even US government counted them as illegals at that time) into regular army. As a result there were more and more incidents when such agreements like collecting wounded or killed was misused by Ukrainian side. Then drones appeared and with the help of the West they started to be widely used by Ukrainians. Dropping grenades on injured soldiers was a common side in Ukrainian publics, those videos where widely spread and ignored by the western media, as well as all the other videos recovered by Russian army.
So if you are asking why no one is conducting any investigations, maybe this is the reason. Army is too busy fighting, media is too busy with pushing it's agenda, the West will not raise this issue either as too many questions will be asked about Ukraine's actions as a result and this is something no one needs from Western politics. The investigation will be conducted after the war and the side that lost will be blamed for everything, as always.

Once again I urge people to actually read what article 5 says. Even in the event of a member being attacked there is no obligation on any other member to act in a particular way. They are still free to support in the way that they see fit. Ukraine is already being treated as if it is a Nato member. Article 5 would not demand greater input by anyone.

    • @ZugZugMahogny
      @ZugZugMahogny Месяц назад

The key difference is that collective defense becomes a binding commitment-countries must act, though the nature of that action (e.g., military, logistical, economic) can vary. So, while a member could technically limit its support to non-military aid, the political and military expectations would be much higher than what Ukraine is receiving now, especially since NATO is designed for collective military defense.
So, the comment is partially correct, but it downplays the significance of the binding nature of Article 5.

@@RiseOfTheMachines-s7u Yes, theoretically, a country could fulfill its obligation under Article 5 by providing minimal support, like sending equipment such as radios, if it deemed that sufficient. Article 5 does not specify the nature or scale of the response, leaving it to each member's discretion.
However, in practice, NATO members generally recognize that a meaningful response is expected in the event of an armed attack on a member state. The political and military pressure from other NATO allies and the principle of collective defense would likely compel most members to provide more substantial support than just minimal assistance. Ultimately, while the letter of Article 5 allows for flexibility, the spirit of the alliance encourages a more robust response to uphold collective security.

Ugledar was not important for what is behind it but what is in front of it. The railway that can feed Russian troops in zaporihzia and the rest f donbas.
AS for isael Iran notified the USA before the strike, hence most of israels's f35 etc were up in the air when the missiles truck he airfields. Of course it is doubtful whether Israel will respect this act of civility nd not inform Iran when they reply. Ugledar will nor be declared fully under control for about a month as Russia clears mines and stranded soldiers in clellars. If you bothered reading Russian papers you would have seen several instances of Russian soldiers being prosecuted for crimes committed in the war.
before you can claim anything a war crime you need to know what happened before.
when it comes to loss of equipment History Legends made an interesting point, Russi has skilled mechanics and workshops near the front line. They can fix a damaged tank and return it to action in less than 10 hours on average, Arnoured vehicles take a shorter time. Many of these tanks have been hit and repaired many times. this is partly true for ukraine as well, though they have to canninalise more parts from other machines.

Sadly, the parties won't be ready for that for some time after this conflict is over. Perhaps, with the writing so plainly on the wall, something can be done to reach a lasting peace soon, before too many more die.
