Also love the idea of people asking me where I learned such things! Those less desired projects that you don’t see but that you feel and help overall. @1834 RestorationHouse. Good thing you have the cooler weather to work on this. Then I would say it's been the right time to do this. In Tampa, we have had extremely hot weather and no rain ( I said we were already into summer over two weeks ago. The feel like temps this past week already over 100). BTW, the "lost" drill bit hopefully won't rattle due to vibration. 🤔 Then again, if it does, maybe no one will hear it under the house.😄

I cringe every time Mike that you bend the sheet metal. When I was younger our bedroom floor had a heat vent that you could see the floor below. It allowed heat from downstairs to come upstairs in older home, as I know you know that. Well, one day I had to help the landlord with something on the vent and he had me reach my hand through the vent and when I brought my hard out it sliced my finger right down to the bare knuckle. It had that small bend where the edge was sharp & jagged. Because we couldn't afford to go to the doctor or hospital, I just bandaged it and put a Popsicle stick to hold my finger from bending until it healed. Still have a scar. Please wear gloves. Did you have a pattern for that end cap or was that your own super intelligence that figured that out? Way cool Mike.
Ouch!! That sheet metal can really do some harm. I just measured and drew the pattern. Thankfully sheet metal has a little bit of flex to help things fit.

Jan, it's very sharp and I've tangled with it already. It's hard to work with gloves on though so I'll be real careful.
