I remember trying to explain to people... "It's just like ice skating but on roller skates" 😂😂

The only similarities are artistic... one is performed on ice, and the other is performed on different composite floors and hardwoods with roll-on. One is performed on a thin ice blade, and the other is performed on quads or inline roller skates. Your same does not equate.. My father held several titles from being teacher of the year. Ran the Southwest Pacific Regional championships,President of FIRS, and RSOA/RC, a rink operator for over 40 years in California. Everything else is political in fiscal spending to Olympic countries wanting financial gain. We need to get back to just enjoying our amazing talented athletes.

Great skating! I'm surprised at all the ice figure skating moves these women can do. Did many of them start skating on ice?

Tara Lipinski (1998 Olympic champ) is probably the best known convert from roller. Also Marina Kielmann from Germany who went to the 1988 and 1992 Olympics after allegedly being 2nd in the world in roller in 1986. Her signature moves on the ice were the layover camel and the axel + single and double loops. More recently Mateo Guarise of Italy switched from pairs on the floor to on the ice.

@@timothyhh Yes but the question was did they START on ice, not did they go onto ice. It's a shame this sport is treated as inferior and just seen as a stepping stone to ice skating. I'd rather watch more of this tbh.
