Brilliant!!! I want films of "The Liar" and "The Stars Tennis Balls" too! Stephen Fry's writing style reminds me a lot of Dennis Potter. Also I'd love to see Roger Allam playing Christopher Hitchens in a biopic.
I re-watched the final series of "Between the Lines" and Roger(albeit much younger) popped up in that, as the sleazy MI5 director. He was very good in that role.
I have no idea why this occurred to me, but if there was a hypothetical film ever to be made (based on real life) where Christopher Hitchens had to show up I'd cast Roger Allam as him... I do rather like him as a character actor tbf.
If you like Roger Allum in a cantankerous role go watch Michael Gambon in "the Singing Detective" - why didn't Kermode reference that bit of brilliance? Second Dumbledore for you kids.
He was in V for Vendetta as a member of the suppressive fascist government. Speed Racer was a wash with so much colour of which all moved so fast my Brain was on the verge of siezing to function.
Love him so much. Can't help but think of him being interviewed during The Thick of It while watching him in a studio.
moviesmusicme You can imagine our fellow politicians being like this nowadays like how they are in the thick of it. Brexit still, oh fudging God! lol
Bootonanny!
Hey nanny no

In Hippopotamus, the prose and the dialogue are spectacular!
He'll always be Douglas Richardson to me
"The Lemon is in play..."
Brilliant!
I can only hear him as Peter Mannion now!

Startled by fire alarm.

Love Roger, but he will always be Fred Thursday first in my brain!
