Well Hung, it’s a story telling song. The last two minutes are straight fire, pretty good chorus, and it’s a surprise sequel to Stan (for first time listeners). It’s not his best song ever, but I’d take this over 3AM, Headlights, and plenty other songs. For the record, I do believe 3AM and Headlights are also good songs.
Songs like this, were Em's therapy. They are his expression of the pain he was feeling due to the shit that was going on in his life at the time. He acted out his innermost fucked up thoughts and feelings, through these songs. The shit he would never actually do, but wanted to do because of his pain, he acted out in song form. This shit helped him get out all of that anger, hatred, and pain, in a creative way.
I can understand that this song might not be on most people's playlists because of how aggressive and scary af this is, especially back in 2000. But the storytelling and just his emotion is so amazing. Kim is now one of my favourite songs on The Marshall Mathers LP, ngl :D

Also when he talks about : “You know the song by Phil Collins, "In the Air of the Night" About that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drownin' But didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a show he found him? That's kinda how this is: you coulda rescued me from drownin'” That is a myth, that’s a fake story but it just shows that Stan can’t really differentiate from reality. Eminem is just a genius.

I love how you've opened your mind through this Eminem journey, even getting behind this. I love how you've opened your mind through this Eminem journey, even getting behind this. Yes it's not a song you casually put on or something like tha, more listen to it once just so you've heard it. And to put all you preferences aside and appreciate it for what it is, what it was ment to be. He just put a scenario on record, letting all his emotions come to him and acted it out on the mic. Plain and simple.
Respect to you for seeing it like that, it's easy to think how people would shit all over it because it's raw, unpolished and fucking mental, but that wasn't the point. The point is to shock you and disgust you. You need to accept that to see the brilliance that's still behind it.

Steve speaking FACTS. These past couple years have been magical lol not to sound corny but it is magical seeing all these reactors learning about eminem. The youngers ones who have yet to learn about em, the older ones who either was a fan and fell off or the ones who slept on him, etc. And now fully understanding the GOAT that has been slaying the rap game for so long!
