The Magic of Fursuiting

- This video is a celebration of the wonderful "magic" that happens when ordinary people put on animal costumes and bring happiness and joy to others, particularly children. Unlike (most) adults, kids still have the capacity to imagine that the fursuiter is not a hot, sweaty performer baking in a suit - but a cartoon character, or maybe their favorite stuffed animal, come to life.
All the quotes used in this video were obtained directly from the fursuiters themselves from our local group up here in the greater Seattle area.

I always see hate comments againts furries and I always hear trolls tell furries that no matter what furries do that trolls will never stop hating them. But then I think, furries aren't gonna stop being themselves no matter what trolls do :)

Now I might not be a furry (or at least not identify as one), but I dressed up as both a lion and a cow for work a few times. Lemme tell ya; it's loads of fun. You get to run around and act silly among the customers, and you get to make kids and adults laugh and smile.
Honestly, if this is the best furries can offer us, I say they do us a lot of good.

Finally some non-fur accepts us... I feel that everyone should accept each other for who they are... and what they love. It breaks my heart that people will not let others be who they are because the person who is hating on them doesn’t like it... SO WHAT!? It’s what they love!! Not what you love XD honestly I love people like you! But not the rude people. See, I don’t like bronies, or weabo’s but I accept them for who they are. And I support them 100% because they did us nothing wrong, and if they can put smiles on peoples faces.. And if they are not hurting anybody than they should not be tortured by all this hate!

I have friends that are anti furries and I'm one but they all like me the way a am and I'm glad there's people like my friends in the world also my mom fully accepts me she doesn't really care what I like she loves me the way I am and I'm not giving up what I like >:(

+venomousbook Some people just go with the flow, some are just mean spirited, others look for the bad in everything, while most are just uninformed. And being uninformed, they hear about them being bad and crazy people, and there are some crazies here, just like every group, and assume that is the normal.
This is why i'm looking into furries so i can be informed and what i see is fun friends and good times yes i've heard of the crazy people and seen some explisit art but when i shove that out of the way all i see are people who like to create great things and have fun and with me wanting to be a game dev i already have a small connection to you i also have a silly and playful personality
Glad to hear it! Those crazy people are referred to as yiffers. They can be mistaken as furries because they have some of the basic interests, like fursuits, but almost all furries are disgusted by them and their _other_ interests.
Something that furries with fursuits love to do is bring joy to people. Hence this video, and others like it. While I don't have a fursuit, I can't wait until the day I do.
Great you keep working towards that as if you want to bring joy to the hearts of many then i can support you there and maybe i'll join too but i have a long way to go and people around me that still have bad relations with furries

I am crying... yet smiling... It's even more profound when you actually go to the cons and see them all in person and how welcoming they are to pretty much everyone. I remember going to a con feeling scared; I wanted to go to overcome my fears, but I was so afraid that I almost thought of running out of there... until a few of them greeted me. Afterwards: pure exhilaration and joy. Thank you, furry fandom, for bringing me out of my shell and helping me to experience the time of my life.
It just makes my heart warm to see fursuiters and children playing. :)

I envy all fursuiters, and i probably will until i make Kaida (my fursona) come to life as my own Fursuit. I envy the ability to bring a smile onto a child's face so easily through dressing in a fursuit. One day, I will walk around my town, as Kaida, and bring the locals that same bliss...
Ya' know what, someone should make a documentary on the furry fandom. Go intot the lives of a couple of furs, all ranging in age,different genders, and places in the fandom (ex: Artist, Fursuiter, Random person). It should address how furries normally live, how we actually do lead a normal life. But also how we embrace or "fluffiness"(had to). It needs to be created by real furries. Not media, or the news. It should be aired on TV to!

I've been a furry all my life, I figured it it last year. I was looking at all the things I drew, anthro promorphic animals! And I love cats and caring for animals, when I turned 11 I wanted a fursuit, I'm 12 now and I'm a young furry. I'm working on a fursuit! :3

@tabbystorm Hi there, it is recommended that you join furlife and RSVP through there so organizers can see how many attendees will show for a meet, but feel free to just show up if you want. And you don't have to have a suit to show up to events, actually a vast majority of attendees don't have suits.

Society these days have taught people that you can't go up to someone and talk to them, we avoid socialization outside the people we know and often more than not people judge other people they see on the streets. I don't have a fursuit, but I have a faun costume with stilts and even that is enough to make people smile and stop me in the street to talk to me and awe at the suit. To me, fursuiting means to bring people out of the shell they hide behind. Fursuiting brings pure joy to everyone.
Its funny how Furry-haters bash on us and say horrible things that aren't even true. But never even take the time out of their day to maybe think; " These people are human too. Maybe my idea of them is wrong. Maybe I should actually spend a day in their shoes,er..paws i guess, and see what life is like for them." But will take about a whole DANG FLABBIN' hour out of their day to rant, and rage, and make up stupid misconceptions about us.
To be honest that says more about them then us.
And just think of our haters in this way: They ACTUALLY take time out of their day to talk about us,even though its negative, that just shows we're that important in their daily life! ~AriumTheAardwolf (just a random fur)

i am a 53 year old guy, why does this vid make me cry? super fursuiters.
I will have my Yena suit in a week or two and this sort of thing is the very reason why I became a fur in the first place.
I have two furiends who do this a lot and I admire and love them dearly for what they do.
I can not wait to hang with the crowd and make people smile! I might be a hyena, but i'm a nice one, lol.

What a beautiful video, one that more people should watch! This is what being a fur is truly about, stepping outside yourself for awhile and showering the world around with smiles and laughter. Thank you so much for sharing this video and the stories in the comments as well!
I'll always remember the very first time I was in my fursuit and a child came up to me and hugged me. It was such an awesome feeling, right out in front of the David Lawrence Convention Center during Anthocon 2011. FurFright 2010 was my very first time fursuitting and the amount of pictures that people wanted to take with me was unbelievable. I had never felt so liked before in my entire life. Fursuitting has helped me overcome many personal boundaries, I look forward to more in the future.

This video made me tear up and seeing how happy everyone gets when they see all the suits. It's your videos like this that make me want to get a full suit and finish my partial. To be able to go out there and do this with friends to cheer up someone day no matter how little it changes. As long as it's for the better :")
There is something so powerful about bringing joy to others, there just isn't a feeling like it in the world. Knowing that I, tiny and insignificant as I am, can be a part of that, the CAUSE of that sometimes...brings tears to my eyes. My suit is an extension of my joy that I can share freely, without any regrets, and it is a blessing to do so.
Seeing these videos make me cry so very much at what I can do with my fursuits. I just wish the public could see our smiles and tears of joy while we are in fursuit.
I think I'm just one of many who cried whilst watching this. Even the music brings back such vivid emotions I'm on the verge of tears again. I'm going to keep this video and every time I change my mind away from buying a fursuit I'm going to watch it again and remind myself why I'm buying it.

im not even a fursuiter yet but i love to make people smile i have made people stop crying and smile and i wasnt even there when i hear something like that it makes me wanna cry of joy its like you go into this world where everything is peace only is everyday was like that
This is exactly why I suit, the feelings and emotions a person in a big animal suit can bring young and old alike. Theres no feeling like when you see your first Senior Citizen giggle like a small child and shuffle over as quickly as they can to capture just a moment of their childhood again.If only for a few seconds. Its priceless. X3 Makes me all warm inside!
This is such a good video, makes me chuckle every time its a cute picture. I have only seen people dressed like this at the mall once, its nice to know you can put a smile on anyone because you wear it and give them a hug or high five.
If Disney World allows it, when I get a fursuit I'd love to hang out over there. That'd be so fun, you all must enjoy having so many excited kids around! So many happy faces, you all are amazing people.

This made me cry a little. I love children, in fact I have a special needs child of my own and just beginning as a fursuiter. This really touched me and I want to give children smiles as well.

That was the most adorable thing I've probably seen in a fursuiting video at 3:55 when Kijani was offering a high five but the girl just brushed past it to give something better, a hug. Personally I love being a furry because I love the magic of characters of the non-human variety. And to make people smile so they too can relive that inner childhood of happiness is why I feel that the furry community is one of the better fandoms in existence today.

thats why I want a fursuit!!! thats was my principal reason, not because for going to convention or anything like that ... just for that!! Going in a public place where children could be and make them smiles!!! lil' children loves to see this, they have sparkles in their eyes when that happen ... and this, my friend .... is a wonderful moment!!

yesterday 25th nov 2012 is my first time public fursuiting in my 1st fursuit Io Purplemouth.. at my apartment mall I'm so happy with the people reaction and acception for fursuit.. tho is their 1st time seeing one.. in my country.. Indonesia (is there any other furries from Indonesia ?).. Tho there are 2 crying child but still in curiosity mode and sweet hug from his brother.. and view other hugs from restaurants staff and customers..

i'm learning to make a mask for under 50 bucks..the trick is to use plastic canvas as a base, then layer with foam and fur. :)

I wish I could be a furry, to make people smile, to see the happiness in children's eyes. To forget my worries, and enjoy life to the fullest while I make people laugh, and help them to enjoy their life too. I love seeing children smile, it makes me feel at home, and that I can relax for a while.

I'd guess you had the view the media wanted you to have, my friend. They want to make people think that way about us. But I'm glad you've seen what we are really about. We just love being silly and make others happy. Despite what others may think of us I'm proud to be a furry. We are kind, accepting, open minded and very welcoming. Not seriously obsessed with sex as if there was nothing else in life.
my friend u can always serch for it and yeh ik how you feel i got the same problem but in the end i just give them a little taste of my claws if you know what i meane >:) and thats why they dont mess with me and the furry community

It's great when people can suspend their disbelief once in a while and open themselves up to new ideas. If you can put aside disbelief for sci-fi, fantasy and comic books, you can be open for furries as well.

Too bad there is such a negative view of furries because some want to be juvenile.
Not only is it happy for people but I heard of people changing personalities when they suit. Like some become more open and confident. A large part of the reason I want to go fursuiting. I'm not very confident at all and very little self esteem :I But hopefully suitting as my exotic (not like sexually exotic) tigress will allow me to be confident, pretty and admired for once.
