Particularly enjoyed this video of yours and all the other ones that you have produced including your life in Athena. We enjoyed Koufonissi, Schinoussa and Iraklia on the occasions when we were there. It is so nice to see similar things that you are doing at this time. We are as older travellers now revisiting places in Greec ethat we love and that your videos are providing the inspiration for us to revisit these places again.
Thanks for the excellent video of a tiny, seldom visited Cycladic island! Went to our local Greek restaurant the other night and had kolokithokeftedes in your honor. Wish we were there! 😎
@@agirlandherpassport ❤️ 😆 Haha oh no! It was just some planning and logistic issues. Thank you though 🙏. Enjoying my time excursion in Meteora at the moment.
Tiffany, believe it or not, I’ve docked in Donoussa on my way to Astypalia in 2011. I met someone on the ferry who got off there to go camping with a friend. If I remember correctly, wilderness camping is permitted in Donoussa.
@@agirlandherpassport its not camping, its free, in donousa there is no police, you can camp anywhere you want, i have been alot of times in 80s and 90s, was really paradise, last years its f@cked up, in the time i was there was no cars and we swiimin naked in livadi and in kedros, was only 2 small tavernas, a mini market and the bakery shop, we are around 15 tourists in september october, i talk bout late 80s and early 90s, then they start to build alot of rooms, anarchists come and drugs come with them also, was so peaceful back then, i have alot of years to go now. i swiiming in a very small beach back of hora, nobody was near me , sometimes we sleep in the beach, ther eis a path from back of hora to kaltaritissa, its 1 hour walking, then we walk from kalotarisa to hora in 3-4 hours thru mersini - mesaria, was not cars and bus in that time.
@bountytracker. There was still plenty of people naked in Kedros and Livadi. It’s why I didn’t film much there. I think late September and early October are probably more like what you remember. Only a few places were open to eat. Not many tourists. Although, more than 15. I enjoyed the quiet of this place for sure and everyone was so friendly.
There used to be a lot of free camping at Kendros beach but this is not allowed any more. There are still some showers which aren't used any more but the campers would shower there with no cover at all. Free camping is still tolerated at Livadi. In early September, the beaches were a lot busier and only about 10-20% of the people on Kendros were naked and slightly more at Livadi.
A very interesting video for me because I know Donousa very well as I've been many times over the past 20+ years but in late August or early September. I've never seen the waves go so far up the beach, although I have known the Skopelitis to be cancelled. I've never seen goats on Livadi beach, probably because there were too many people, but I've seen them on Nero beach on Kato Koufonissi. They will go into people's bags to find any food there is if the bags aren't zipped up and I've seen them eating straw mats.
Another inspiring one Tiffany. I now have flights booked, Edinburgh - Athens, for April 2025. May visit Hydra and Aegina. Any tips for Easter in Greece ?
Thank you! Most of the things happen on Friday and Saturday nights not on Sunday. And they happen late. The churches will have a schedule. It will be in Greek but Google translate can help.
I was going to go to Donoussa last June but went to Koufonsia instead. If I go to Greece again next May, I’ll definitely pair Donoussa with Sifnos, which is my new favorite island. Is it worth renting a bike(bicycle) there or just walking is fine?
donoussa before some years dont have bikes and cars, also you dont gonna find to rent, there is a path from hora to kalotaritissa 1 hour and then back to hora from different path , 3-4 hours, but now have a small bus, a taxi and a small boat, i prefer the old times when donousa dont have anything like that, so i stoip to go, but for me, im Greek and 59 years old, i beleive donoussa is still the best place in Greece, and i travel to all the islands.

Beautiful but I would be bored after a day and I am old. I prefer southeast Asian tropical destinations to visit because they are relaxing but there’s so much to see and do other than beach and taverna.
Lesser or small Cyclades (donousa, schnisousa, koufonisia) are very small literally beach islands. If you want more you should hope for the larger ones Paros, Naxos, Andros ,Milos, Ios, even Myconos or Santorini...
Cyclades are the best and best weather especially July and August. Because of the northern winds as well the beaches are very clean. But again spoiled for choices in Greece
You know when Greeks say 10 minutes, it really means A LOT More! I am missing Greece.
They didn’t account for the hill or that I stopped to look at the goats. Haha
Love those little, off-the-beaten-track Cycladic islands.
Me too!

What a beautiful vacation spot. That first beach you went to is so good. Did you mention the name of that beach? Your hotel room had a wonderful view.

I hope you get to Mytilini. I have friends who live there and they tell me to visit. Maybe someday through one of your videos I’ll visit 😊

Awesome, what dates were you recording this? I’m headed to Greece next October thanks
Thanks! I was there September 26-October 3rd.
It's always a lot windier at the south end of the beach than at the north end. I suppose that's why they built the village there.
I am sure that is probably why as well. However, in the summer I prefer the windy side!

There was a lot of wind that day. I think someone was feeding this goat so that is why she came down.
That is such a beautiful island. Why would anyone go to a busy crowded island when they could go to Donoussa instead?
