Second year cards of Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid have had a big return over the last 2 years. Mike Trout second year cards really spiked about a year ago.
I agree that with today’s prices, never buy modern rookie cards on initial release. I will share based on experience the best returns I’ve gotten are from rookie cards. 10 years ago I was buying Kobe, Lebron and KD rookies for $1-5@ (bought multiple copies). I was also buying serial numbered game used jersey cards of them ($5-20@). The rookie cards have gone up 100-300x in value, the serial numbered game used jersey cards are up a modest 10x. I admit however that they are great for PC. Which gives me an idea maybe I should make a video on this. 😂
I am not afraid to buy RCs but I also I do not buy during the hype. RCs are so overpriced during their first and second years. Wait for years 3-4-5 and see if its still a good investment.
I think u gotta do your research on the player and how is his slugging is it consistent Homer's, obp , etc in minors .Blaze Jordan will blow up his name is even so marketable.
Totally get it and agree! You invested in cards that collectors would want. It may be a little longer of a time frame to flip ( to find the right collector) but I think this is the way to go right now. I am a Lewandowski fan and that gold was a GREAT pickup!
Heck yeah on the Duncan ! I have been scooping up a lot of the stars not named Kobe for the 2001 black Topps chrome /50 as that’s the first chrome numbered cards . Dirk , Steve nash etc
Lewandowski is lethal, but banging goals in for Bayern is expected… Dominant team in non competitive league where defending is dubious… he is one of those, “what could have been?” players… Rock that Al Ain shirt!!
Thank you! I feel like he's low because he's not as high profile or in the spotlight as other players. If he played for England and Manchester United instead of Poland and Bayern. His stuff would be crazy
So basically you don't say No to rookie cards. What you mean is the hobby goes back and forth and sometimes rare cards are actually more desirable than rookies cards. I agree on that.
Awesome time machine! Robert was robbed of the ballon. 🧐. After i got my favorite kobe rookies. Ive always been on the look out for low pop low print cards
Totally agree. I would much rather have a Kobe refractor from the 2000s than any of the modern rookies. It just won’t lose its value long term. All of the modern rookies are just hype. Sure, some will pan out, but for every Giannis, there are 200 Michael Carter Williams
Troy I have been saying modern basketball is kind of dead now and I am going to stich with my late 90's parallel and insert of Jordan and Kobe all day long=)
I have sold modern basketball lately but it's the parallels that are moving...Luka blue velocity, Trae red ice, Tatum courtside. Modern isn't dead just the base prices haven't seen massive price spikes. Just check my slabs sold listing when a guy has a good game...increaees are more performance based
pfft. come on man, Zion became the fastest player to reach 2,000 points since Michael Jordan. That's why a lot of people kept going in on him. It wasn't "for no reason". =P But I agree with everything else, especially anything Tim Duncan, one of the most underrated and underappreciated players in the history of the world. @_@
The NBA Season started on December 22nd, if you look at the graph Zion had already doubled before the first game even started. He did look good at the beginning of the season, but all I'm saying is his initial rise was not performance based at all
Second year cards of Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid have had a big return over the last 2 years. Mike Trout second year cards really spiked about a year ago.
Collect what makes u happy bro. I’d luv to see ur top 10 cards in ur collection.

Yeah that's true, I definitely have been waiting on a lot of guys and I'm not in a rush to buy year 1
But if u wait 2 to 3 yrs and then been performing their cards keep on spiking .
I think u gotta do your research on the player and how is his slugging is it consistent Homer's, obp , etc in minors .Blaze Jordan will blow up his name is even so marketable.
Amazing Duncan card, checked all the boxes AND it’s color match? Right up my ally haha
Yessir! That color match really makes it for me
@@TRIKESportsCards been slowing picking up color matches of the young guns I like 🔥😮💨 all about that pop babbyyyyy

U got me hooked by the title. Valid points
Take care & God bless🦏🦏⚾️⚾️⚾️

I think the market is also aiming for more low-key cheaper guys who are expected to play well (Poole, SGA) etc.
If you're purely looking at "flipping" I think that's one of the main places to look
yes 2nd year sga gols are cheap and worth it
Lewandowski is lethal, but banging goals in for Bayern is expected… Dominant team in non competitive league where defending is dubious… he is one of those, “what could have been?” players… Rock that Al Ain shirt!!
non competitive league? They just lost 0:5
do you think hobby exclusive inserts are a good alternative to rookie cards?
Great insight I agree rookies are the gamble. Any reason why Lewandowski is still low? His stuff isn't moving like the others. Mahalo Troy.
Thank you!
I feel like he's low because he's not as high profile or in the spotlight as other players. If he played for England and Manchester United instead of Poland and Bayern. His stuff would be crazy
Awesome content Troy! 💯👍 Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 👌
Thank you for watching and supporting!
So basically you don't say No to rookie cards. What you mean is the hobby goes back and forth and sometimes rare cards are actually more desirable than rookies cards.
I agree on that.
Good stuff, agree, I like the #’d parallel refractors of the all-time greats
Thank you! Yeah I think those will be solid long term
Always awesome stuffs on your vids! Thoughts on the second yr NBA players? Cole Anthony prizm silver cards tripled the price lately. Lol
Thank you, really appreciate that! I have a couple I like, I'll probably do a video on that soon!
Great player + Low pop + pretty cards would be the way to go
Base RCs are just too easy to get nowadays
Awesome time machine! Robert was robbed of the ballon. 🧐. After i got my favorite kobe rookies. Ive always been on the look out for low pop low print cards
2nd year cards are good if you can get in them at a good price. Now is not a good time.
I'll slightly disagree, I think there's always opportunity. But you very well could be right

That’s a valid point, the rookie hype kind of blows my mind! Some new rookie cards go for more than legend cards, that will slow down eventually!
Troy I have been saying modern basketball is kind of dead now and I am going to stich with my late 90's parallel and insert of Jordan and Kobe all day long=)
Feels pretty dead to me too honestly

Collecting only Rookie cards is boring. I'm wondering if other collegectors will start getting last year cards
The scammer he was talking about is running back AJ Dillon
AJ apparently did something similar, but it actually was someone else!

Agreed! I feel like we are in PEAK "super gold zebra holo prizm die-cut lazer numbered" parallel. Im buying G.o.a.t.s./low pop/ high grade
Yeah I think focusing on cards that actually matter is more important than ever with all the noise out there
Who is the person who was asking for free cards/nfts
Hey Troy I am moving to Spain for at least a year. Do you have a video of how you do your buying and selling from overseas?
