I used to watch Riley play against Wilkes barre as well as when he was with the flyers and I always hated him so it’s cool to see how awesome of a guy he is off the ice lol great episode 🤙
Enjoyed the episode fellas. Wish Biz would go back to more original chiclets vibes but guess thats what happens when they grow into the massive media machine. Keep up the good work.
Man the “for the sake of winning”. So many coaches use that excuse for their incompetence or behavior. This has nothing to do with being demanding or hard on your players, which can be necessary. Michel Therrien’s excuse? One championship in his coaching career, in junior. Coached in a league championship only twice in professional hockey from 1997-2022. Coached a team to the third round of playoffs twice in the same time frame. He was a head coach for all but the final 3 years of his professional career. Different times along with circumstances I may be unaware of but it is not an excuse. He was likely coached by similar personalities growing up. At the end of the day, I’m thankful for the evolution of coaching, even if so many of us were the test rats along the way.
weird question riles but did you coach at a hockey school in ignace ontario north western something or other i think i remember meeting you when i was 10 or so always been a huge fan but i was telling my dad about your podcast and he said oh you wouldve met him back in the day true or not true?
David Rockhill doesn’t want that hat, and you were the 2nd person to answer correctly! Could you email us nastyknucklespod@gmail.com and we’ll get you a hat of your choice sent
Excellent point. I’m sure these players feel a lot of pressure to perform night in and night out, but they also have guaranteed contracts and a union. A coach is the first to go when the players don’t perform. He doesn’t have the same financial security as his players. Most coaches are one or two losing streaks away from losing their job, livelihood and possibly their career. That’s not to excuse abusing a player. No excuse for that, but players likely don’t know the pressure and weight of living and dying by each game, along with how it will affect your family too. Even in the real world, unless you’ve been in management, you simply can’t understand that level of responsibility. As a nurse manager, I don’t get to punch out and not have to deal with work until my next shift. It comes home with me. I don’t get to call off work without very serious consequences. Etc etc. Anyways, I’m sure coaching is probably the most stressful job in hockey. I’d actually like to see them get better and more financial guarantees that are in line with their players. I think that is changing slowly.
If a team had 20 Brett Hulls? your losing 📉. If you had 20 Patrice Bergerons? You know some players just are more professional. Shane Doan Biz ? yeah hell.
Great Interview with Biz. I think Biz has given the NHL a positive boost with his presence on TNT. So much better than NHL Tonight.
Totally agree, man. He has personally and he's funny. He gets along well with the whole crew.
I agree but the problem is I still forget hockey is on TNT. In fact I forget TNT is even a channel.
@@myothercarisadelorean8957 well put a note on your fridge or something.
New to your podcast, great episode! Can we get a show dedicated to explaining the LLC thing? I think that could be extremely beneficial for all of us.
Congrats on 100 fellas here’s to 100 more!

Tribute video was fucking awesome
Biz it's not that easy. The players will get lazy. You got a boss and do as I say. Winning is sports, you got to do your job.

Dmac deathmatch jesus!!
Mike Kennan or Joel quenneville shouldn't be reason why you win. The players know when they need to ratchet it up.
