This is freakin' great, the way Mario moves and bounces is funny and really nice to look at, while the environments go well with the Mario model in capturing the "Early N64-era render" aesthetic and are incredibly well detailed, especially Whomp's Fortress and Shifting Sand Land. Great work, a nice tribute to Mario and the Gummy Bear song.
THIS VIDEO IS SO WELL-ANIMATED! I'm so impressed with the animations being contained within the newspaper printings and the recreations of the Mario 64 stages, promo art, and MK64 circuit! So much character put into this! A lotta work was put into this and it turned out real awesome!
I just went back to watch the original gummybar video. Holy shit the attention to detail here is astonishing. Even the original animation glitches are present.
I actually prefer this to the original song. It's just something about mario having the time of his life singing that makes it so much better, even if it dosent make sense as to why he is calling himself a gummy bear.
the song terrifies me and the original video makes me uncomfortable, but seeing Mario's familiar jovial smile gives me just enough strength to get me through it all, this is so well made!!
The replication of the renders of places, objects, and characters in this are amazing! I especially love how the world, from the Mario 64 box art, looks here. Absolutely outstanding!
If some time traveler messed up and made The Gummy Bear Song viral in the 90s, I’m certain that Nintendo would have made a commercial like this by the early 2000s, 3 years after it’s popularity would have extinguished. Excellent job!
Nintendo was usually the one making iconic content, they’re not known for ripping things off 3 years after it’s relevant.. Were you maybe somehow getting Nintendo mixed up with Family Guy? If not then I don’t get it lol. I do agree that the animation is fantastic and very authentic to Mario 64-era ads though!
I absolutely love this Mario model and animations. Its very similar to the one used in Mario 64’s box art, but also super expressive. And the way you incorporated parts of the game into the song is absolutely perfect. So amazing
I like imagining this is how Mario would use his first cam recorder, not really the fact it was for the music video but just recording himself having fun in the moment
As much as I really like it, and the animation is hypnotic eye-candy with the style and SM64 asset integration, It still begs the question within the darkest reaches of my mind... Why..? And yes, I'm asking in the most yummiest, tummiest, funniest, luckiest(?) and gummiest sense. lol
After 15 years I've finally learned the lyrics of this song... and now I'm terrified at the implication that you can bite Mario _exactly three times_ .... what happens after the fourth bite?
Well, simple. The first bite, he falls off of Yoshi. The second bite, he loses his power-up. The third bite, he shrinks. And with the last bite, he dies.
