As we make our way from Rock Krawler in New York to Texas, we decide to go over a few things on our Jeep Wrangler JLU Rubicon! How much it weighs, how the long arm and 3 link ride, a new modification, and how we finally fixed our crappy Jeep windshield!

I've had probably a dozen Jeeps, including 4 Wranglers and 1 Gladiator. I run large tires that stick outside the fenders. I live 1.8 miles from a rock quarry and there are dump trucks on the roads all the time. I have not one single time in 25 years had to replace a windshield for a crack or rock chip, save for ONE on an old Liberty CRD that cracked on a bitterly cold morning with the defrost on high. I have no idea how so many people are going through Wrangler windshields like candy.

I would say this is the one of the best “Reverse Clickbait” vids I’ve ever seen! You think you’re about to watch a somewhat boring windshield infomercial and then...BAM you’re on a plane ride! Only your best followers would ever get here. Very Cool.

How does this only have 3.2k thumbs up and not the most watched video. Kevin you are a stud. Britt you are smart beautiful and amazing. Everyone else who subscribes watch the last minute of the video. Seriously not sure how this is not the most watched video on the whole channel. Trust me!!!!!

Wow! Those moves! And those sinuous lines! And that long slender torso! My Gosh Jelly is the cutest thing ever!
....but seriously, what a great video! The two of you are so comfortable on-camera, and together, you’re just so fun to watch, and we all learn in the process.
And yes, Jeep windshields suck - even my lowly WK has a big crack from a tiny chip!
I thought you two, especially Brit, would be grinning and laughing in a small plane! Try a glider and aerobatics - you’ll love it! Warner Springs near San Diego has a glider port.
Interesting to see the weight StepChild has put on - all for a good purpose of course; but that engine is still the best sound of all !
    Great video! Love that LiteBriteNation!

I have to second what one of the other guys said; I will never, ever not watch one of your videos all the way to the very end again!! We drive the same 2018 JL Rubicon as well (except my wife had to have the fancy one touch retractable roof) and we havent had any cracks yet but she is kind of a pavement princess as my '05 LJ takes on the dirty stuff. Love the videos and if you guys are ever down in Tampa (you guys done Busch Gardens yet??) we've got a very nice guestroom that hardly ever gets used and my wife Carmen will cook the best Cuban food youve ever eaten!!

Jelly is sooo adorable. Thanks for the footage, be safe and have fun hope to see you guys back in upstate Ny .

Suggest you file online with the NHTSA.GOV about the windshields cracking. That sounds like a manufacturing defect and safety hazard. If enough people file, there may be a recall & you'd be reimbursed for the rest. NHTSA can and will spank 'em. Chassis flex, bad glass, whatever. That's their problem

So I have a 2015 Wrangler with a stock windshield. When I got my first rock chip I stopped at the nearest auto part store and bought a tube of this fix/repair glue stuff. It filled the chip and now I can't even find it. I feel like if you do that soon after a chip happens, it won't split. I've not seen -12 degrees but I do live in the high desert where it gets down into the teens. I think that first chip happened coming back from Moab now that I think about it.

Any vehicle with a flat windshield is going to catch hell. All my old Scouts and CJ Jeeps went through several but, I never had a problem with them cracking, just pitted, chipped and sand blasted. I used Safe Lite for replacements back then and don't know about their quality now days. Brittany and Spandex are an excellent fit. Jelly and Crazy..... an excellent fit.

Of course I gotta rock chip right after watching this....lol... I have about 5-6 small ones and haven’t had any of them get cracks yet. I’ve heard so many things about Jeep windshields being crap but I guess I’m just been lucky with mine. Mine is a 2012 so maybe they just made them better then. I’ve had the iDrive for about 9 months and I personally love it. I use it on U9 on the freeway and I have a 6 speed manual and 4.88 gears and it just makes it easier and don’t have to shift as much. In town I’m U2-4 . It’s funny cause after I got it I kept hearing that it’s a waist and don’t buy it. Well I really like it glad to hear your response about it. We all need our Offroad video fix and long arm test results.

Nice video, the Beech Bonanza was a surprise. It is a bit smaller than the helicopter I am working on now. Just replaced my windshield on my JLUR Pumpkin Pi before Christmas went OEM as I didn't have this information available on this aftermarket windshield. I did save the windshield to use as the glass in a picture frame with all the stickers trail maps and cracks to hang in the shop. I guess I need to look into the I drive and see if this is something I would want.

That NYC view was very pimp, and i've heard that flying on propellers planes it's more comfortable than on jet engines, but i don't know, i've never been on a plane; that view was great, that's for sure. And the ashers... for me, that i smoke... are a must have on any vehicle with a hard top. That new "trigger" mechanism for the gas pedal, after the whole explanation... look really good to me; i wish more vehicles had something like that as default, instead a gas pedal "as crisp" as a CETME C trigger, and btw, doesn't hurt to recognize that you were mistaken before, learn from mistakes and recognize that sometimes you make mistakes or that you were wrong.. i think that makes you better, accept the reality for be in possition to change it. I was hopping to see Brittany's mom now that you're safely back in TX, i think she's funny and i like her; and all those clothes look good to me, I think you're very favored with them. And... last but not least, all what your hoodies need... it's a front zipper; zipper up? = winter, zipper down? = summer. Put a front zipper on 'em and you'll have a customer here. Stay well, rest a bit, have fun in this 1st days of the year and take care.

The first mods I did to my jku was a K and N intake, performance exhaust and a Hikeit throttle controller. On stock tires and suspension it is the quickest jk around. The throttle controller is amazing. Makes a huge difference.

    • @1badawg66
      @1badawg66 4 года назад

CHEAP JEEPER mine 2012. I intentionally stayed away from the 3.8 but what I know is there is a delay programmed into the pedal response of the gas pedal. The Hikeit or pedal commander or whichever brand you choose can remove it. An air intake and less restrictive exhaust is a positive for any gas engine. Combined these mods made a big difference for me in an otherwise stock JKU.

You flew in Fork Tailed Dr killer.
The Bonanza was a “Hot Rod” of Aircraft ✈️ . Expensive and only Dr’s could afford them.
The forked tail is called a Ruddervator. On the newer ones beech changed to a conventional tail with Rudder and Elevators
The pilots would loose control due to the unconventional tail and high power of the engine. That’s why it got the Dr killer name.
I work on jeeps for fun, worked on aircraft for years. I’ve worked on a Bonanza too. Cool airplane, if I remember correctly the yoke could disconnect and pivot from Pilots side to FO side. I know it’s an old video but depending on how well you remember this you may appreciate the info about the plane… you already know about jeeps so no need to comment there 😂

4:16 So cool to see you guys in flying around in my place of work. Come to Boston and we’ll fly over the city haha. Btw even the brand new Jet I flew last week had an ashtray. Good place to store cheeky notes for the next guy.

How is the windshield holding up? And if you’ve replaced it, how long did they last?

You need to come back to Michigan to wheel both the jeep and the razor at the Silver Lake Sand dunes. Also there is Jeepfest in Toledo Ohio next year as well where your JL was born.

Over the weekend I happened to take my JL Unlimited over the truck scales at a Utah state weigh station and it showed 4620 lbs... With me and a good amount of my gear in it.
The timing of this windshield video is good since I just joined the broken windshield club this weekend.

Omg. No more six-pack shocks. You need to change your logo design. You should wait until the coil overs get installed. 😃
Look forward to seeing the RV.

A quick fix for small chips in your windshield. I have a small crack in my original windshield on my old 93 yj. Its 1 part alcohol, 1 part bug juice and 1 part rock salt. Mix all 3 together in a glass container, then brush it over the chips and small cracks. I do this once a year and the crack becomes almost invisible. It's been 6 years and the crack has not grown.

I think maybe there are more than one manufacture of windshields, and maybe some are better made than others. I've had my JL for almost two years, no issues.

I use the iDrive. The only downside to the iDrive is the number of people, who have NEVER used one, telling you it doesn't work. On my old 2010 3.8L JK Wrangler, the iDrive was absolutely the best performance upgrade you'll ever make this side of a supercharger. It literally transforms the early JK's

Great Tip. Bought a 2020 JL Rubi on Halloween. Wind shield cracked 1 week after I picked up the Jeep. Been looking for a solid option and was considering the Gorilla glass but after seeing this recommendation I'm going to be looking for the same. Keep up the great content!

I’ve went through 2 OEM windshields and both have cracked, went and bought an aftermarket windshield from our local auto salvage and had them install it for $185, no leaks and no cracks so far.

Awesome info. but a question I seem to recall you said you killed a previous Jeep? and How did you come up with the step Child name? I assume Red Head stepchild??? Not sure if you ever made up a video about this? Happy New Year
