i want to see madeline miller do a book about Medusa SO bad
Yes it would be so greattt
I'm currently reading Mistborn and was listening to your answers as I was washing the dishes... A feeling of panic took over when you said "Mistborn" and "spoilers" and I couldn't touch my phone with wet hands. 😂 I miraculously managed to avoid the spoiler though haha.
You spoke into the universe and the author is now releasing new stuff haha
Yes, Madeline Miller needs to release more books, they're amazing!
I think the Lunar Chronicles would be great as a movie franchise.
a character who should have needed up with someone else: Harry Potter dude
I kind of disagree with the multiple point of views thing, i though Priory had the right amount of POVs because it told you what was going on everywhere so i liked it lol
I don't think Harry should have ended up with Ginny...
I can't really think of a book that should have ended differently at the moment...
I actually really liked La Belle Sauvage, but I am definitely hyped for the secret commonwealth which will take place after the his dark materials series!!! maybe I just liked Malcome xD
Hope your healing is going well! 💕
We have been waiting TOO LONG for the sequel to Elantris 😂
POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR MISTBORN BELOW
...
I totally shipped Vin and Zane!!
I agree I'd love to see more books by Madeline Miller
Unrelated to the topic, I just wanted to thank you for recommending Red Sister. I have read The Prince of Thorns from that author and did not like it and did not continue the series but your explanation why you liked this one made sense and I just finished Grey Sister and thank you :)
I agree with Elantris and Warbreaker as great novels for starting fantasy. The first novel I have read from Brandon Sanderson is Elantris and it is a very good representation of his other novels.
Yay I'm so glad you enjoyed The Ancestor series too! I haven't read his older books yet and I'm nervous lol
@@BookswithEmilyFox
I Dnf the Prince of Thornes after reading half of it
Mark Lawrence is a terrific writer
And i love morally dark characters (Joe Abercrombie fan here)
But unlike other Grimdark books that i've read i just found that i had a hard time digesting the escapades of a protagonist with no redeeming qualities. There's some really dark humor in there which i get. But i just couldn't get behind a character (Jorg) that, for example brags about raping young farm girls.
Im told that the other books in the Broken Empire series get better and make you understand Jorg a bit more.
But im just not sure if i want to at this point.
Glad to hear Emily St John Mandel brought up again! She has three other books, Last Night in Montreal (her debut), The Singer's Gun and The Lola Quartet. Unlike Station Eleven they're all contemporary crime stories basically so whether you will like them or not is probably going to be a genre thing. I think she also has a new book coming out later this year or next year
It's so refreshing to watch a Book Tuber who does typically read all of the common books we see on BookTube ☺ Big thumbs up for the original content 👍🏻
Doesn't*
Why did I JUST realize just now that you have both a beauty and book channel and I'm so shook. Like I've watched both at separate times (w seperate RUclips accounts for books or beauty) and always thought you looked familiar lmao. But ya wow you are bosssss idk how you do both!! Rock on girl and thanks for doing the best of both worlds!! That's so cool like those are both my passions and it's rare to find someone else with those two together as well. ❤️
Oooh! I would LOVE to see animation of Mistborn. Never considered it and now I need it.
I love the US cover for Skyward (I feel like I'm probably in the minority with that opinion), and I think that the US cover for the sequel is even prettier! I like the UK covers too, just not as much
I prefer the US covers for both books as well.
So happy you uploaded ❤️
Btw, can’t wait for your thoughts on “ A little life” that you mentioned in one of your videos a while back
I'll do a bunch of wrap ups when I'm back!
OMG YES! Kiss of Deception couple, totally agreed. I was so disappointed with who she ended up with. It seemed so...boring? I still love the series...but I wish it that portion was different.
Totally of the same opinion, I think the one she ended up with wasn't as fleshed out as the other one, so I didn't really feel attached to him "^^
Omg yes I totally agree! And you’re so right @Liliana F! We spend so much more time with the one she doesn’t end up with! So the other one seems so much more just...I dunno. Boring,? Undeserving? Superficial? I even had a little crush on The Komizar at one point! (But of course only before he did the thing.) I was hoping the whole time tho that he (the one she didn’t end up with) would get a consolation prize in some way, I was praying he’d end up falling for the girl he DID end up with because at least I could feel better about his situation and not feel so bad for him. I felt like it happened a liiiittle fast, to go from being so crazy in love with Lea to falling for somebody else. But regardless, I preferred it to having had him wound up alone. It was believable, also because of who/how she was.
(I tried really hard to not spoil anything! Hope I was successful.)
@@Jenbebookish Very successful! Only thing I regret is there aren't any fanfics xD
Ooh, I just bought the Jon Ronson book! So excited to hear that you liked it :D
I also agree with you about kiss of deception. I didn't like who she ended up with either! Lol my sister is reading it right now and I think she has the opposite opinion.
I agree about Madeline Miller books, looking forward to more.
Ooo yes I loved the winner’s curse!
I read Six Wakes and totally agree! It would be interesting to see more in that world.
Totally agree about Six Wakes! I loved it so much and there is nothing else like it!
aah i really do want more madeline miller books, her writing is so stunning. i feel like she's one of those writers that could get me into reading anything as long as they are the author to it. also i'd love to see a mistborn animated tv show, sounds awesome.
Madeline Miller is so amazinggg! 😍😍😍 Loved both those books but I love The Song of Achilles more 😍
I'm not totally sold on Jon Ronson's writing, but I think his topics are super interesting! I just finished The Psychopath Test and want to try more from him.
I would try his audiobooks (if his the one narrating them) it made me like him way more!
Oh yay I really love book tags!
I agree with you completely about the Themis Files series. The third book went in a direction that did not see coming and didn't enjoy at all. Another series I feel should have ended differently is Queen of the Tearling. I 100% hated the last book. In fact I basically try to pretend that it doesn't even exist.
You’re totally right about Priory of the Orange Tree. There was way too much going on and I couldn’t follow it at all. I barely even remember what happened
The one book series that I 100% want to go on is the Book of the Ancestor series. I seriously need more content for that romance, even after reading Bound. And this trilogy has consumed me.
100% this video was prefilmed but if I answered now I would say that for sure!
Yes to Jon Ronson! My favourite is The Psychopath Test. I devour all of his books 😍
Six Wakes was fantastic! I agree that it doesn't really need a sequel and would also love to see more in that world. I would love to see a movie of Skyward. Did you see that Brandon Sanderson is making an urban fantasy tv show? I think it's something about a guy in our world who's fated to be the evil guy in a different world and people from the other world are trying to assassinate him. Should be interesting!
Emily pls do a reading vlog for Dance of Thieves. 😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏
Try listening to Michael Sheen's narration of La Belle Sauvage, it is wonderful!
Always find your videos so helpful
Omg the Mistborn spoiler ship that you mentioned... yes!! I’ve never heard anyone else say that before but that’s how I feel!
Mistborne Anime is the BEST idea ever!! - I wanted The Night Circus to become a movie ❤
I like it you made the effort to give new answers and introduce us to New books ^^ I just bought The Winners Course, I was not sure if it the right book for me but your Video made me curious ^^ Thx
I read the Night Circus and I didn't like it but I would love to see it become a movie. It would be interesting to see that concept in a movie format.
@@sareg4122i found the magic more interesting than the ppl in the book, apart from the twins! They were awesome! - The reason y I wanna c the book turned into a movie is, that I want to see all the magic come to life (the coat that turns into birds, the ice garden, the dress that has the colours of the dress next to it, the merry-go-round, ect.) And the whole Circus itself. It must be marvelous. I picture something like The Nutcracker and Greatest Showman combined ... In Black and White ^^
@@kiraironskin Yes! It would be a really magical movie! My problem with the book was the ending. It build up like something big will happen at the end but it was just.... simple imo.
So you've been publicly shamed is my favorite book of the year so far, jon Ronson is so talented and has a very interesting tone for nonfiction
I feel like I'm the only one that love both of the book covers for "Skyward"
I was so excited for Only Human, having loved books one and two. It took me a month to read it and it put me in such an awful reading slump that it almost sullied the good memories I have of the first ones :'(
i agree so much about the kiss of deception I was so angry we could have had it all but then the last half of the book just went in the wrong direction
Hope you're doing/feeling well!
Agree entirely with La Belle Sauvage, the original series is a childhood favourite but I'm not a huge fan of magical realism and that's what it felt this turned into at the midway point
I love your channel!! Thank you for introducing me to Brandon sanderson.... you literally changed my bookish life lmaoo
J'adore toujours tes vidéos Emily! :) j'espère que tu vas bien avec ta chirurgie ! prompt rétablissement
I want a Warbreaker sequel now thoughhhh. :P I feel like everyone thought The Book of Dust was pointless; really glad I never picked it up. :/
The Winner's Curse is the first book in a trilogy, or did you mean the series itself when you talked about it? 🤔😅
yeeeees a Mistborn tv show!!
Six wakes reminds me of the tv series called Dark Matter. You should watch it!
Nah, you should watch Dark.
@@Archonsx I've never heard of it!
The illustration on the north american edition of Skyward is by one of my favourite artist so I have to disagree with you. I LOVE that cover! (The UK edition is still really nice)
How are you feeling? You can eat solid food correct?
Slowly but surely getting better!
I ate pizza friday... without cutting it first. It didn't look pretty but it happened lol
Baby carrots are still not in my future for a long time but... pizza!!
I tried reading sleeping giants i just couldn't get into it :(
Omg I thought I was the only one who thought that about "the kiss of deception" I totally agree, I was so unhappy with who she ended up with XD It was kinda cliché-ish
Emily St. John Mandel has like a handful of books out there
"it's a chunky boi" I lol'd
Emily I dont know If you know but The Remnant Chronicles have a spin off series called Dance of Thieves
Elantris vs Warbreaker- which is the better one to start with? I thought I remember you saying in another video, but I could not find it 😞
ayako0chan I think she said Warbreaker but I started with Elantris and it didn't really matter so I guess you can choose))
How can I get in touch with you about reviewing an AWESOME new book?
Needed to end up with someone else: Alina from Shadow and Bone!!
Check out the fantasy Series by John Marco, They Eyes of God (one of the best fantasy novels I have read), The Devils Armour, and the Sword of Angels. Also check out his other series: The Jackal of Nar (also one of the best novels I have read), The Grand Design, and the Saints of the Sword.
Hermione should not have ended up with Ron.. just saying
i want more madeline miller! i want more circe stuff!
Would love to see Mistborn adapted. I thought it was going to be at one point because he did sell the rights but so far nothing. I just hope if they do they make it into a T.V series and not try to make it into a movie or else it will probably just come out like the Golden Compass movie, too much crammed in. Mini series are the best way to go.
His Dark Materials is getting a second shot so we can hope lol
I feel like The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer wasn't satisfying enough. For some reason I wanted the main character to end up with that brother (I really forgot the names) and the ending was... too positive? I don't know how to explain it but I'd rather like it if it ended the other way for some reason. I just didn't ship the couple. And other book is Me Before You, it would be perfectly fine without the second book, in my opinion. Me After You disappointed me actually.
Uff, I am angry about Kiss of Deception. I have just finished the first book in the series, and I loved it and even though she strongly preferred one of the guys I kinda though that during the remaining two books she will change her opinion, but b/c I don't like surprises I went ahead and googled who will be the endgame and I am so pissed. Uff, she definitely had more chemistry with the other one. Now, I don't know whether to keep on reading.. but I think I will and let's hope the story is good.
Patiently waiting for Harry Potter the TV series. Been saying that for years!
I like being a little bit dramatic 😂 yeeeas
It’s more entertaining 😂
Emily St.John Mandel has written other books.
I managed to get the book of dust at a charity store. Cheap and goes towards a good cause.
I read sleeping giants and i hate with a passion the Vincent dude and the pilot woman, im currenly listening to the second one and i don't know if a want to continue
That audiobook is one of the worst one I've ever heard lol
alina starkov like there was a love square there and tbh...none of them deserved her ...siege and storm mal can catch these hands
Kiss of deception, Yas!!!! I totally agree, I hated the ending pair.
Also all things Brandon Sanderson I totally agree as well, my newest obsession
I wanted a sequel to 'The Host'. I was not happy that the aliens just stayed on our planet. Like, they're nicer/better than humans? But like, its OUR planet and they steal OUR bodies???? Like, go infect a different planet??? IDK.
we all know who alina from shadow and bone should have ended up with...that's all I'm going to say
OMG HOW DID I FORGET.... totally agree XD
I was looking for this comment, 100% agree!
With The Remnant Chronicles, I feel like the love story in the first book is sooo basic and one dimensional, and I think that's the point. Everyone in book one is pretending to be someone else so the love story is very skin deep. That being said, I think by the end I like who everyone ended up with. The other love interest guy, I hated as a love interest because he was so possessive that I was hoping he would die in book two.
The POV question- Broken Earth Trilogy hands down. I HATED Nassun and had to suffer through her whiny garbage chapters for two books. I love that series but I despise her.
Vin totally should have ended up with Zane I was all for that...then I read the hero of ages and now I cant imagine her with anyone else
Jo may be good at writing a lot of things, but romance is not one of them. Harry and Ginny is the biggest blunder for me, but almost all the pairings were silly.
Was waiting to see a comment about team Jacob 😅😅
Oh I was 100% team jacob but I'm sure if I reread the series as an adult I would find him creepy too lol
totally need more jandy nelson
Less perspectives: nine perfect strangers. Sheesh.
Oohh I was totally into Vin and Zane!! That ship was real!!!
I agree with remnant chronicles, I did not like who she ended up with. I couldn't stand him.
Opal Cowan from the Glass Trilogy by Maria V Snyder. No way in Hell should she have ended up with who she did. I'm still raging about it now
I think Hermione and Ron should not have ended up together! Id have rather had Hermione and Harry tbh. Dunno if I’m the only one so no hate plz lol
Laura Jean should have ended up with John Ambrose McClaren. PERIOD
I wanted to see Vin with ANYONE but the doofas she ened up with. Also, I second the Madeline Miller comment..
Agree about Kiss of Deception. The other guy was just so much rugged and sexy. 😅
I also thought he had more character too
Argh Circe was so boring for me :(
Oh no. I'm so sad to hear The Book of Dust sucked.
**caraval spoiler**
I think Tella should have ended up with Jacks not Legend
Should’ve ended up with some else?
ALINA StarKOV from the Grisha Trilogy. I’m a firm believer that Mal is absolute garbage!!! Ugh! What a waste
Skyward (us edition) cover looks like a scholastic children's book cover.
I also low key shipped Vin with Zane. 😂
