Who is Brian Friedman?
During the first 15 years of his career, Brian Friedman was nominated 4 times at the MTV Video Music Awards, 2 times at the Music Video Production Awards, and 5 times at the American Choreography Awards for outstanding achievements in choreography. He has received a World of Dance Award in 2016 for Male Choreographer of the Year, an Industry Voice Awards in 2011 for Best Choreography in a Music Video for Britney Spears "Till the World Ends", the Choreographers Carnival London Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, an MTV Video Music Awards for Best Choreography in a Music Video for Fatboy Slim "Weapon of Choice" (Assistant Choreographer to Michael Rooney), and in earlier years, a Recognition Awards for Dancers for Best Auditioner.
Having worked on some of the most sought after jobs in the business, his film credits include “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”, “You Got Served”, “She’s All That”, “Austin Powers Gold Member” and “Uptown Girls”. Brian has been associated with top music artists such as Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Prince, Mariah Carey, Usher, P!nK, Nicole Scherzinger, Christina Aguilera, One Direction, Cher and more. Brian was chosen to work with Simon Cowell on several of his highest ranking projects, including judging, choreographing, creative directing, and producing. These shows include “The X Factor” (US and UK), America's Got Talent & Britain's Got Talent.
Brian can be described as a pioneer entrepreneur, having opened his first dance studio at the age of 16. He got his first big break when he starred in the 1992 film “Newsies”. Soon thereafter, he was one of the breakout stars on the hit show “Kids Incorporated”, alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt and the late Brittany Murphy. He has since worked on “Dancing with The Stars”, “So You Think You Can Dance”, “Will & Grace”, “That 70’s Show”, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, David Letterman, The Ellen Show, Oprah, MTV VMA’s, VH1 Divas Live, and the Billboard Music Awards to name a few.
In addition to spending his time as a Producer, Director, Creative Director, and Choreographer, Brian enjoys giving back to the community. He has toured the world teaching and mentoring thousands of dancers by working alongside The Pulse On Tour, for which he is the Creative Director. Brian also created an interactive instructional dance DVD called “Freestyle”, teaching audiences around the world original choreography from his most renowned works.
Brian has never stopped learning, growing and venturing into new fields. He took on the fashion industry as a designer when he partnered with the international company Capezio to create his own Shoe Line called “B-Free”. This was done before he turned 25 years old. That same love for fashion led him to eventually create a full apparel & shoe line called Brian Says B Free aka BSBF. In addition, Brian currently has a costume collection titled Brian Friedman Performance & a dance wear line called Brian Friedman Dance Wear with Discount Dance Supply. Eventually he started his own online mentorship program called The Talent Collective. The program helps guide the lives of future artists and entertainers, creating and developing original projects and catapulting careers in the entertainment industry.

One thing I noticed in Sean's duets is that he does much less (if any) of his distinct little tweaks and manipulations of the choreo and the general rhythm and flow which he always does. He focuses more on being in sync with the partner and being harmonious. I just wanted to point that out since that's very thoughtful and professional. Also, always stepping back in freestyling (except when the main goal is storytelling between two characters)

Kinda sad watching Kaycee slay so hard knowing this will probably be her last class for a while depending on how long her ankle takes to heal but she and Sean were fire. I mean, they're always fire together but I love them in Brian's classes so much. Get well soon, Queen. 💝

@@lavonnealexander6936 no it has nothing to do with her being faster. He's fast too. Its just that he always makes an effort to make it look like an actual duet instead of just 2 people. They look in sync because sean tries to connect with her by being in sync and trying to freestyle with her.

Well yea cos sean never dances his best when with her. He tries to blend with her movements, let her freestyle, act like a shadow of her or something and lastly gives her the floor instead of doing his best, which is why my eyes were on kaycee too, and in most of their duets too. U kinda contradicted yourself between both paragraphs Their is nothing wrong with using words like manly in this situation at all cos there is such thing as a masculine "tint" to dance and it isnt a bad thing at all. Even tricia promotes the difference between male and female in so many of her classes, and its your choice if u wanna adjust to them or no. Amari chooses to be more fluid in his choices for example.

When I said that he performed this as feminine as everyone else I just used that persons logic. (using the phrases ”feminine/manly”)
Or you could just say that I forgot to use the word ”stereotypically” in combination with the word ”feminine”. I don’t really remember which one of those two it was.
Anyhow I am in fact against using those phrases without mentioning they’re stereotypical. I would never ever use those myself when commenting a dancer. And I definitely wouldn’t use them as compliments.
What I also wanted to point out with my comment was the way people use ”masculine” as a compliment specifically to the more ”masculine-straight-ish” males. Like, everytime Sean performs a ”feminine” choreo all the top comment says ”omg he makes this look so masculine😍”. (as if it’d be a bad thing if it wouldn’t look masculine from his side!?)
Lets say Amari would perform this in the exact same way Sean did, I’m pretty sure no one would comment that he makes it look manly. The only reason to why is because they know he has a more stereotypically ”feminine-like”-personality. It doesn’t seem like they base their comments on their dancing - it seems more like they’d rather try to match it with the picture they have of the person generally. But maybe that’s just me being delusional, who knows?
I was planning on talking about how there is no ”femininity” or ”masculinity” but I didn’t want to write an entire essay - therefore I decided to leave that part out and only focus on the points that I explained more clearly to you above.

Obviously, these are all good dancers, but two stood out for me. Beyond just having the choreo down and having the athleticism to perform it, as these dancers all did, the movements, the beauty and the style in those movements, of Kaycee and the dancer in the yellow at 4:51, stood out.
