I used to think the same thing. Wondering who lived in those homes in Williamsburg as a kid. My parents bought an old Stoney in New Hope 25 years ago & it's been a lot of fun. Haunted too 👻
wow, Cliff what an amazing road trip thanks for bringing me along, ready for the rest of our traveling adventure, I love The Wondering Woodsman Channel!
Morrisville is my hometown!! You missed out on the historical home Summerseat. Built in 1770 it was one of the headquarters for Washington during the war. Route 32 is an absolutely stunning road that I am lucky to live near. It's fun to drive straight up to Easton on a sunny day. So glad you enjoyed it!
When I was a kid, '60s - 70s, that tow path was a real working tow path. My mom would take me to New Hope to ride the canal boat towed by horses. Was a unique experience for a kid. Sad to see they quit all that, and turned it into a bike/hike trail. Yum - peanut butter fudge from one of the shops in New Hope! But with the equines gone - ain't no reason for me to visit anymore.
When I first moved here 25 years ago the mule barges were still running. Would take them all the way up to Center Bridge. Those 3 floods we had in 18 months did a real job on the canal. Ever since 2 non-profit groups are trying to bring in back. But like you said the Mules are gone, Doylestown College I think & the barges are probably in bad shape.
I’ve climbed Bowman’s Tower numerous times…..before the “elevator” and the bars that surrounds the observation area at the top….much nicer without the bars…. Nice video:)
My uncle actually laid on the ledge back then. We used to be able to go in the look out at the very top. My family used to cook out (barbeque) a few times a month and we'd climb the hill to the tower.
I grew up in Morrisville and my mother still lives there so I really appreciate this excursion. I frequently rode my bike on Rt 32 (River Road) from her house up to New Hope, PA- which can be seen on your video at 26:50 where the two bridges cross the Delaware. Lambertville, NJ is on the right side of the river directly across from New Hope on the left. Great video WW!
Nice ride. A lot of history in Bucks County. I filmed most of the covered bridges in Bucks. There are several around New Hope. They make Bucks County special, imo
The cool part about driving along the river on either side is all the things you missed the first time and then notice on future trips. Right across the street where you parked in Morristown was a Canal run off/ waterfall. If you can, drive along the Jersey side. Follow 29 up to Frenchtown then follow Frenchtown Rd up to Milford, go to the left, go down a couple blocks to the right and look for the white church. Follow that road(spring garden rd) up and to the right along a beautiful one lane road along the river, between the cliff face and railroad tracks. It will then dump you out to Riegelsville Rd. Go left and just before the bridge to Pa there is a back road that leads through tiny, out of the way villages. If you stay along the river rd it should put you out towards Phillipsburg, across from Easton, Pa.
Oh where to begin! I guess first of all thank you very much for that road trip! Route 32 has been my favorite drive for years now. I grew up in Doylestown and worked in the middle bucks area all my life. I know the stretch of 32 between Washington's Crossing and kintnersville like the back of my hand. It's my happy place. When I saw it was an hour I thought to myself wow he's going to upset some people because there's no way he can stop everywhere along that route. LOL. I get it though. But for future when you are in Lumberville that is right up your alley the Lumberville General Store is the oldest privately owned General Store in Pennsylvania and the black bass is a hidden Gourmet gem on the river with a walking bridge to New Jersey. I also held my breath as you drove by tnicum State Park LOL. Another awesome spot. Frisbee golf hiking camping and I even worked as a chef for some weddings in the barn there. Good Times. Keep up the great work
Hi Cliff, Hibbs house with the yellow shutters had a beautiful little garden, I can easily see why people (including yourself) would love to live there, it would be so cool to live there back in the time when there were just horses and carts. Whoa that tower had some outstanding views from the top there. I'm really looking forward to part 2, thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
Tullytown which I saw on the sign you passed on Rt 1 south is where William Penns property is. It's been restored and has a nice tour of the grounds that take place daily. The big minus for me is G.R.O.W.S Landfill which is a giant trash dump for garbage has made its eyesore right next store.
Very beautiful. Use to ride my motorcycle on R32. Never new about Bowman's tower. That place was awesome. Couple weeks ago I was wondering if you were ever to New Hope. This is great, a small beautiful town. Can't wait for part 2.
Happy July Fourth Cliff! That house at the park with the flower garden. There a green leafy plant next to the echinacea by the fence corner looks like Velvet Leaf. I wonder if that was what it is. The leaves really do feel like velvet lol. Great videos! I am learning so much about PA thanks to you and JP, n Mike etc...My mom was born in Allentown. I have never been to PA.
I've traveled that road back from the Philadelphia area a few times, it's very scenic in the fall. I never knew of Bowman's Hill Tower and will be visiting some time in the future. Actually I like the format showing the driving of the road.
thank you locations i won't get to oh i remember this las Summer! been up towers /castles in ireland Natures Beauties I Love Tree Lined roads not skyscrapers ones
These are interesting. I notice that this river, the Delaware and the Susquehanna, are full of rocks and islands and seem shallow. Are any PA rivers navigable?
As Paul said, yes the Delaware River is navigable almost to Trenton. Philly and Wilmington, DE are major ports. Above Trenton it is very shallow and very scenic. There are quaint towns on either side. Nice living up there.
I just love goin for a ride. Could you sometimes turn the camera to the L or R a little so we could see like the historic houses etc that you were passing on this trip?
This is one of my favorite drives and I make it a point to visit a few times each year. My favorite stop is the wildflower preserve. I am curious as to why you have never done a video there. Is there a permissions issue? That area was made for one of your beautiful and educational videos.
What is that monster tower thing on the right @ 2:20 in? It looks like some kind of mutated cell tower but then as you passed it, it looked like it was covered with vultures.
Archaeologists have just discovered Fort Halifax, in the PA town of the same name, c 1756. BTW, do you just play the piano music on your stereo while filming with the dash-cam?
Well if you actually move into that neat little originally restored house just know that you'll have to fetch your water from the spring, well or river; use the outhouse, run coal or whale oil for your lighting and heat your home and cook your food with wood...7 days a week.
Awesome adventure so far, thank you for taking us along. 👍🏻 It's a shame people don't know how to act that they had to put up a cage around the top of the tower.
Love all the old historic houses, always have wanted to live in one.
I used to think the same thing. Wondering who lived in those homes in Williamsburg as a kid. My parents bought an old Stoney in New Hope 25 years ago & it's been a lot of fun. Haunted too 👻

Hi Kathy hope you’re okay?
Those old houses are lovley ,they look a bit like irish cottages .
They look better than any mansion .
Drove this road everyday to work. Best way to start your day 🌼
One thing I love the most about Pennsylvania is the beautiful history ❤👍
I like your choice in background music..soft piano, classic.. or jazz for me. Anyway.. love the highway series.

I grew up In Morrisville also.
Once you get into Easton, the Weherbacher Brewing Company has the best beer in America, and amazing food. It's worth the trip alone.
I live in the southwestern part of pa love watching your videos of your side of the state! Thank you for taking us along! Be safe
Hi Barbara hope you’re okay?

I’ll say it WOW that tower is truly awesome!!

I've only just driven through there myself, never had the time to stop to see the sights, but it is a beautiful area.
Maybe next time he can park in NJ and walk across the bridge
Nice ride. A lot of history in Bucks County. I filmed most of the covered bridges in Bucks. There are several around New Hope. They make Bucks County special, imo
Your right wow that tower was great
Thank you Cliff.
Did you video the aqueduct in the town of Point Pleasant it’s right behind the post office.
Just got your channel info from Todds latest video on the Indian wars.👍🏻
Thanks for the beautiful ride in a lovely part of Pa. I enjoyed the light soft music during the ride.
Love seeing my area on here. Driven in cars and rode many bikes down that road, such and awesome route. Happy to see this back uploaded
Tower & view just Amazing!! I love the old historical houses also. Thanks so much!! I am off to watch part 2❣🥰
Interesting video, beautiful sites, must get my grandkids here. Thanks for bringing us along on this trip!

LOL...yes, you said it! You could totally live there! And wouldn't it be cool to see the reenactment of the crossing on Christmas day!
Those step in Bowman’s tower remind me of the steps in Ireland’s Castles

I visited bowman's tower about 20 or so years ago, but it wasn't opened at the time . It's a beautiful area in Washington crossing...

Grew up in Newtown, thanks for the video!
Neighbors of ours just moved there!
These are interesting. I notice that this river, the Delaware and the Susquehanna, are full of rocks and islands and seem shallow. Are any PA rivers navigable?
The tidal section of the Delaware is. Philadelphia has a major port.
As Paul said, yes the Delaware River is navigable almost to Trenton. Philly and Wilmington, DE are major ports.
Above Trenton it is very shallow and very scenic. There are quaint towns on either side. Nice living up there.
Ohio River starts in Pittsburgh. Not sure re how far up the Allegheny or the Monongahela is navigable.
I just love goin for a ride. Could you sometimes turn the camera to the L or R a little so we could see like the historic houses etc that you were passing on this trip?
wow i gotta get out there its so beautiful

Just haven't filmed there yet.
@@thewanderingwoodsman7227 That's great! I really thought may be they wouldn't allow it. I am looking forward to it.
What is that monster tower thing on the right @ 2:20 in? It looks like some kind of mutated cell tower but then as you passed it, it looked like it was covered with vultures.
We do have turkey vultures out here. Horrible warty looking things.
The tower was cool
Love these
I second that WOW!!!
Archaeologists have just discovered Fort Halifax, in the PA town of the same name, c 1756. BTW, do you just play the piano music on your stereo while filming with the dash-cam?
Thinking no. He has same music when showing drone footage.
Well if you actually move into that neat little originally restored house just know that you'll have to fetch your water from the spring, well or river; use the outhouse, run coal or whale oil for your lighting and heat your home and cook your food with wood...7 days a week.
Sounds great to me.
Awesome adventure so far, thank you for taking us along. 👍🏻 It's a shame people don't know how to act that they had to put up a cage around the top of the tower.
What inspires your choice of background music? Is it for a neutral ambiance, does it hold a sentimental value for you, etc?
Just some relaxing background music
hi Please put this on Again as it's late n battery is 8% brian
2:25 I hate when they try to disguise cell phone towers. Uglier than just the tower.
My zen cruise
Route 209 then hop on route 6 across Northern Pennsylvania
I want to sober 6, but it’s long .
1%left may get it
