Thanks for this. I have three YN 300 Airs and really like them. The only criticism I have is that - in order to put the 'Go Pro' style mount on the light - you have to be very careful to not lose the tiny nut when screwing and unscrewing the screw that secures the light to the mount. I am really curious what the Viltrox equivalent is like in comparison.
I bought the YN300 based on your video. I think its a good little light for the money. The only thing I didn't like was the "gopro" style mount instead of 1/3-20 threaded mount like the Viltrox and others have. The light is pretty phenomenal for its size. Color balance is really good and matches my other lights pretty well. Its bright enough to use with an umbrella for really soft light. I probably will buy another one of these and a couple of the Viltrox lights as well. They do good together. Thanks for the good video.
J.R. Regenold - Did you buy the Viltrox equivalent of the Yongnuo YN300 Air? I have three YN 300 Airs - figured that I'd better get all from the same company in the (probably mistaken) assumption that the colour temperature would be more consistent. However, I am really interested in the Viltrox (which I looked at, too).
Beautifully done. Short and sweet. All necessary info. No time wasted. I know its an old video but I'm actually planning to get two of these for my youtube setup. I do gadget reviews indoors and the lights I use now have a very narrow source of light and cast a weird sort of light on the table. Do you think two of these would do the trick?
@@SeuRafinha Thanks for the reply. I actually went for the big guns. I got two YN300 iii. They look really good. I'll be making my first video with them this week. Actually the video is about them only.
Not bad at all! you could easily make that a larger light source by putting a plain piece of paper in front of it, it'll soften it even more and also disperse the light more evenly, may cut down the light by about a stop but with camera's these days shooting in upwards of 50,000 iso like the A7S+ well you know :). Or just buy a portable scrim :D Keep up the gr8 vids!
I'm using a FDR-AX53 and for my first video I used default settings with the light source being a large ceiling LED light. Needless to say, the video was dark and grainy. When you shut off all your lights your video was surprisingly clear with no grain. What camera were you using to provide such clarity in darkness??? And no lights at all? Not even an on camera light?
Absolutely. It's a small light, so it's not going to be a great single source (I wouldn't use it to light a pitch black room), but to provide a bit of additional light, it gets the job done.
I'm going to charge my Canon camera battery that I have for my DSLR and see if that works. I've had it working in the past but only plugged in, and like I asked previously, I can't recall what AC adapter I need for it to work.
Hi Jordan do you have any recommendations for now 2019 to 2020 the budgeted one the cheap but as good as the lighting you are using though? Pls. help. much appreciated.
Maybe I missed it, but what AC voltage adapter should I use with this? I have a "Powerextra" battery with it that I bought separately, I don't think it's a Sony battery.
Hello Jordan. I take very often indoors photos of small objects for my shop but my photos are always too dark, no matter how much I change the setting on my camera. Is this lamp what I need to make my photos brighter? Thank you.
Would you recommend these for green screen/standing talking stuff? Or would I need something a bit stronger? They're adjustable so I'd assume one at max for key, the other at 50-70% for fill. My needs are rather limited so if I can get away with a couple of these a 3-5 feet away, that'd rock. Not sure a hair light would be necessary for youtube/ecommerce needs. That said, if a yes, would it be worth my time to go ahead and snag the soft boxes as well?
Thanks very much for the excellent information. I purchased this light after watching this video. Then I came back to your video to learn how to turn it on! =D You are powering through admirably at midnight. Where did you get that desk clock? I would love to use it to keep track of my time at speaking engagements.
Thanks for this. Just got one of these and am excited to use it (when I get a battery and/or AC connector). Have you had any further experience with the YN 300 Air Pro LED that you would add?
Loved this review. Basically what I needed to see. I need lights I can take as carry on luggage. Using ikan micro floods and spots right now but need one fairly brighter portable light as key for my interviews. Before the ikans I was using the wonderful Lowell ViP Pro-light as a key.
Take a look at the other Yongnuo videos on my channel if you're looking for something bright. The YN300 Air is ultra light and easily portable, but the YN300 III lights are MUCH brighter, especially if you do the single color.
Hi Jordan ! Do you think I can use it instead of my YN flash for wedding photographies in churches ? Here in Belgium we can't use flashes in churches... so I thought at this lamp and here is my question: can the yn300 air replace a flash ? (I mean the powerfull). Thanks so much!
yes this great thanks for the video I am going to buy 2 in aliexpress 300 slim with 600 leds slim too do you have the 600 slim if you have show the video
Well I can safely say your softboxes are far far nicer looking. What are you using? Obviously they are much more money than the 45 bucks for the small LED panel
These are the softboxes: amzn.to/29oVSXW And yeah, they're great. I was just looking for something smaller and more portable, to take up much less space in my office and give me options for when I travel.
Well those are pretty economical soft boxes. They look great. For a static setup I am guessing they will work fine but I am leery about those CFL bulbs moving them around. Not sure how good the stands are but you certainly cannot beat that price. I do own a couple Yongnuo products and they are decently built and as you discovered the bi color ones do sacrifice the flexibility of multiple colors for output. Most people I know of are buying the full daylight LED (any brand) and then just using CTO . The YN600 and 300 non air can be easily softened by using ....a white plastic bag... I've tried it ... works quite well. Now I did order a couple of these Air versions only to find later that the belief they output the same light ,or close ,as the YN300 does is not accurate. But for table top stuff or even a quicky interview you can pop these on a table near the subject and you are golden. The big issue with the Yongnuo stuff is the CRI rating. Frankly I've had no issue but they are rated in the 80's vs the much more expensive Came tv lights. The new ones are basically the same size as the YN600 but you can get barndoors and softboxes to make them more practical vs the YN which really can only be diffused with spun of some kind. I like Parchment paper. Also the YN 600 has a fan that some claim is noisy. For me it's fine. Good videos.
Hey, can I use a single YN300 air light for my product Unboxing and reviewing videos on a table with white sheet set up with my frame being 60 sq cms on an average?
Jordan Keyes 60 cm x 60 cm (sorry about that 60 sq cms, was a typo) , Unboxing action cameras, dash cameras and mobile phones. I shoot with a mobile phone, Oneplus Two, 13 MP, f 2.0. No budget for a good setup yet, started with whatever i already have
Jordan Keyes I am planning to add lighting stuff now, then if possible i will buy a DSLR sometimes later (i am saving for a Canon 200D). I plan to get one YN300 Air and will use it with a foam reflector on one side with a white paper on top of my shooting table. Your help will be highly appreciated.
Ah, I understand! Looking at some of your videos, I think the YN300 Air would definitely help quite a bit with the lighting. It's not the brightest light out there, but it's small, lightweight, and puts out a decent amount of light, and if you paired it up with a reflector, that would definitely help. If you can afford the price difference, the YN300 III 5500k might be a better option. The YN300 Air is bi-color, meaning it can go 3200k to 5500k, so if you set it to 5500k only at 100%, you're only using 48 LEDs. With the YN300 III you can get one that's 100% 5500k color temperature, and all 300 LEDs in it are the same color, so it's a LOT brighter.
Biggest bummer about these lights is that you need to constantly access the back of them to turn on/off. If you want to use them for video conferencing, potentially means jumping in and out of chair every time you take a call.
I’m still confused as to how you put this on a tripod. I just got this and I can’t seem to figure out how to put it on my tripod. Please tell me how to do that.

The good side of the gopro style mount is for getting the light at an angle if your tripod does not support angling things.

Where can i buy it??
Just got mine, late 2019.
What's the main light you're using? It looks like natural sunlight.

How far away is the light from your face? Did you say?
Hi Jordan, Can you tell me please, what is your new camera and your main light? Thanks in advance.
How can you get rid of the light reflection on your glasses lens? You have a reflection using YONGNUO but not with your other source

the diferences between 300 air and 300 III what is
is there any fan noise when it get's heat?
I've used them for over an hour at a time with no fan noise that I've noticed.

Yes, it has a hot-shoe mount fitting.

Great review, thanks!
You can find this light on eBay for $26.99 and battery for $7.99 for anyone wanting to save through I’m sure not as quick as amazon delivery.
What's type of battery for this led
Can i get link to buy?
Hi how are u?
Nice I'm in need of lightning. That is my next purchase.
Viltrox is better, especially that as well as the same type of battery you can also power them with a 12v adapter.
LED on a Stick... bought some lemonade there once. 5/7
Great video!
the vid cut off when you where talking about Snapchat.
muito bom , que pena que no brasil não vende ! :/

i don't know you see it but i think i see this real cri 95 in yn300 :)
Good
you CANT fit any barn door into this.
That really limit the use ....
$ 32.00 at B&H free shipping :)

Xentius xen better construction than other brands like the neewer, but I would stick them in a padded bag, you don't want to be bouncing them around.
