A long time fan of Tim Matheson. Now I am an enthusiastic fan of audiobook narrator Tim Matheson. He is fantastic. So expressive! So many facets to his character and talent.
"Otter" definitely took charge of that fraternity in Animal House. He was the instigator, the procurer and the influencer of all the shenanigans that went on. Great script and great acting. Kudos to the casting director, I can't imagine anyone in that production using somebody different.
Eric Stratton, rush chairman, damn glad to meet you!

Hilarious in the movie was the running gag of Otter's doctor's bag, the reveal of it's contents & how he pointed to said bag upon entering Dean Wormer's inquest. 😂
I listen to K104.3 This is the first time I’ve seen Jim Kerr. Nice to see the face of that iconic voice. Tim Matheson will always be Otter. And he was terrific on The West Wing.
My first car, 4 door, ‘58 Chevy bisquane, box 6, with 3 on the column. $325 in 1968. Worked farms and cornfields in Iowa for a summer. Dad paid insurance, gas was 35 cents a gallon, and STP was $1.25 a quart. 6 years later I was a 2LT in the USAF.
Otter is a Marine. I had no idea. Virgin River is nice and the scenes between he and Annette are nice. It's like watching two old friends from my youth. He's right about the brotherhood. They tell you at graduation from Recruit Training - that from now on - every Marine is your brother. And it's true. USMC 1970-1972 Ooorah! Get Some!! Kill!!! Kill!!!! *_KILL!!!!!_* .
He was a Marine Reservist. Matheson didn't turn 18 until December 1965. The actual build up didn't begin until some time in 1966, so enlisting as a volunteer reservist out of high school is what kept him from being sent over. There was extreme resistance to the call up of reserves, it would have been a career ender for any politician at the time.
It was the legal way to avoid going to the Nam. The irony of Reservist George Bush activating 1000’s of Reservists and Guardsmen for multiple active duty tours in Iraq and Afghanistan seems lost on the general public.
USMC was began on July 11th 1798 by action of USA Congress inDC, giving our Navy an additional Corps . Had nothing to do with 1775, Philadelphia, November 10th, a Bar, or etc . One single Battalion of Continental Marines was assembled, having nothing to do with the uSA that didn't yet exist. The Connestogga Waggon (sic) was the original place, not Tun Tavern . The USMC has existed for 226 years, not 249. The Continental Marine Battalion lasted only a few years, & was then defunded & disbanded forever . USMC is 98% propaganda, generating the best recruitment rate & the worst retention rate of the Branches, due to the illusion created by propaganda, & the disillusionment of reality . That 'look them in the eye' bit traces back directly to James Cagney's advice to Jack Lemmon during filming of 'Mr. Roberts'.
Happy Birthday Devil Dog!!
Captain Loomis Burkhead from "1941". Awesome role and funny as hell.
Thanks, I might have to read that one.
That Jonny Quest was a fantastic actor.
Animal House was released in 1978 (my junior year in college)-lol.
Are you retired now?
I liked The Quest with Kurt Russell & Wolf Lake. Two series that only ran one season 😢
Never knew he was a fellow Marine.
