At the end of 2009, Plug Research and ArtDontSleep produced a Concert at CMJ, with the generous support of VTech, that Mochilla captured quite nicely. Luke The Editor always does a nice job as well.
The show featured a cast of our favorite folks.
Bilal, Shafiq Husayn, Thundercat, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Pahorah Monch, J.Rocc, Large Pro, Dj Spinna, Exile and Blu, Blu Jemz and more.
A special time for Plug Research! From this event on, the movement has just kept growing!
BIG SHOUT to The Crash Mansion! This event probably couldn't have happened anywhere else!

Because I've heard many versions of this song which were all equally as good, this has got to be one of my favs of all time!

I can't get enough of listening to him, especially the live recordings. His skill and talent are so phenomenally dynamic... I don't know how anyone can hear this man's work and not be awe struck.

The best live performance in music history. He is is a slave for the art, the specific song and to the moment. You can’t ask more. And he is the best male vocalist. Just listen to how fluently he morph different styles of tones into others. He is insanely natural(even though he probably has planned the performance ahead). The intimacy he shows in some of his thoughts and performance is further enhancing his greatness.
I would say that Marvin Gaye and Bilal are the two best singers ever. B. Slade holds third place. Them three are the most insane singers of all time and therefor dares to attempt new thinks all the time. Eventually they got great at applying 100 different approaches on the tones per song. If you listen to Luther Vandross you’ll hear perhaps 15 different approaches, Stevie Wonder might have 25 different. In my humble opinion. My heroes are Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart.
They would end up highest in my list for most charismatic and most likable artists together with Whitney Houston, MJ and Prince. Rod is the artist that always has the whole audience sing along on all his songs. He challenges Stevie and MJ. Whitney and Prince are close.
But Bilal is the best total package ever together with Amy Winehouse. They have all the talent, all the vocal skills, all the feeling, the depth, always 100% into the motion in the ocean.. Insane!
