I have all of them too but some things on the second wave disappointed me quite a lot, the quality was not so good, I got some beoken things that I needed to fix myself, and I've not been the only one, so that's why at the beginning I didn't want to buy the third wave and if I didn't find them on sale all together probably I wouldn't have bought them. Another thing that disappointed me a bit is that with white barbies they did two blondes, a redhead but not a brunette one! ☹ Why two blondes? Btw the kira doll is inspired buy Cool Times Teresa from 1988, the pop singer by Kayla Dance Club from 1989, the Prom Queen by a birthday barbie from 1988 (sorry I dun remeber the exact name now) the buisness lady ofc by Day to Night barbie, the school girl by Schooling Around barbie from 1990 and the work out girl by All Stars barbie from 1989. Then for Sophisticated girl the only thing I found it's an outfit from the 1988/1989 Paris Pretty line, now I'm trying to search something about the pyjama girl. Btw this line has ended.
I fully understand and agree on what you say I think the first 3 were amazing then the next 2 were ok and the quality decreased for the last ones... I ended up getting rid of a few and using actual 90s dolls to display the outfits although I tried to keep at least 4 ethnic backgrounds. and im sad that due to this decrease it appears that the line died.... They are all really amazing and I cant wait to see what mattel has thought for us moving on to the 90s which is my childhood! XD
I believe all of these are loosely based on previous 80s dolls. There was a Cool Times Midge 1988, that looks like the movie kira.
