That was an amazing doc dude! As a chef myself for over 30 years I have so much respect for that lady. Honestly that was very well done and very interesting. Her dedication and work ethics are inspiring. Peace Chris

Thanks for showing the true effort and shear hard work that goes into making your 'Cheap as chips' thai street food... All who see this dont feckin forget to say thank you.........Respect Chris.
i dont want to say i feel sorry, because her work is worth being proud of, and she's capable of doing so much more than my ass sitting here. but i wish all of these people could live lives that abuse their bodies less. an infinite cycle of tiring work every waking day, with the possibility of the business failing any day for any reason, with their children being the only ray of hope in their lives. i understand that most people in the world live like this, and i understand that it is impossible for each and every human being to live with privilege and luxury as it would be unsustainable, but is this really how life should be? just thinking about it is making me mentally exhausted.
This is what happens in every village and every town in Thailand. This is what makes Thailand. They work so hard to make little money but we all enjoy what they produce. Always try to eat at the street venders, especially if they have a table, as you can see all the effort that goes into making the delicious food they produce. So much better than a restaurant when you know how its been prepared
I agree with you to a point, but not all restaurants are some greedy venture capitalists preying on the misfortune of others, but equally valid businesses, working, or have been working, hard to get to where they are. I find both have a place in any society really. And I don't speak about restaurants catering to backpackers and travellers on some beach to extreme overprices etc. (And surely not fast food joints) But genuine restaurants. One thing I love about Bangkok is the availability of lots of different cuisines from around the world. Sure, I mostly eat local food or home cooked by me or someone in the family with stuff from the fresh market, but I also love to spoil myself with some Northern Lanna food, Indian, Burmese, Nepalese, Lebanese, Turkish, Mexican, Italian, you name it, once in a while. And I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. It also stimulates the economy and creates jobs for people. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, this or that, at least that's my two baht
In thailand restaurants are not like what we envision in the west, certainly not upper-class 5-star eateries. Most doing exactly what street vendors do except on a larger scale with employees. They have a roof and some tables and chairs but basically the same shit esp the open-air touristy restaurants in Pattaya and Phuket.

Amazing and very informative short film Chris. I'll never take what a Thai street food vendor does for granted. They are some of the hardest working people and power through a really grind of a schedule to make a living.

Bravo Chris. The value of honest hard work is immense. The community created in Thailand from these hardworking people is so special. This was very special for me too! Thank you for the opportunity to be present during the typical day. Again, Bravo to the team.
This is by far one of the best videos I have seen on RUclips, hands down. I knew they were hard working but never realised HOW hard they work for a good life. The hard work, the dedication, the positive attitude - you show it all in this video. Thank you.

The absence of commentary makes your documentary so realistic and there is room for feelings of recognition and compassion with the food vendorworkers. Thank you so much. 🙏

@@RetiredWorkingForYou. I find the people of Thailand very hard working. I would love to know more about the lives of monks and the temple where to stay and worship. Ordinary people such as the rooster boat people, not only their workday but more about their homes and families. Perhaps visit Wat Po and the school of massage. We went to Siem Reap in Cambodia recently and we visited a fishing village on stilts. Our boat “captain” was a young 16 year old boy. It turned out this was an after school part time job. My wife owned her own restaurant in Chonburi for over 20 years. She was the only chef in a super popular restaurant. Every morning up at 3am and work. Go to the market, make her specialty the curry puff fresh every day. Cook for ALL the customers. Get home and fall asleep in her dinner about 8 pm. Unfortunately, with staffing issues she was burned out and had to close her place.
I don't eat street food (my name should give it away😁), but I've seen the vendors outside starting pre-dawn. I also knew a Thai 😊girl that does something similar to this woman, starts around 3am or so with shopping, makes food for the day, showers, then goes to a reg job, while her family sells the food she made. When she's done with her "9-5" she rejoins the family and sells food.. Amazing how these people live their lives and support their family ❤
@@mythai05 you're right, there's only 2 Kosher restaurants in BKK - both run by Chabad. One is not far from Khao San as the shul moved to Banglampu, about a 10 min walk from Khao San. There's only a meat restaurant there and the schnitzel is quite nice, had it a few weeks ago. I believe they'll open the dairy part soon. For a more full dairy cafe and store you'd need too come to the Khlong Toei area, off of Suhkumvit Soi 20 in the Mille Mall is JCafe. There you will find a store and cafe with salads, pizza, fish dishes, hummus, falafel, etc. I quite like the Fish Shwarma in a pita, had it last night.

As I was watching this video, I was curious to know the location of this shop. So, I googled the factory in the video. It turns out it's in Samut Prakarn, the town I grew up where my parents ran a wholesale grocery store. They also worked very hard-usually an 18-hour day, seven days a week with usually one day off on Chinese New Year when we would visit our relatives. Many of us who live comfortably sometimes take things for granted. Kudos to these hard-working Thais.

After teaching in Thailand for one year i would love to retire there when i get old. I think they are richer than England for food, public transport, housing, medical care, manners and they raise children in a traditional way. Obviously its a 2nd world power and there are issues with that however its so SAFE and friendly you can just do what thai people do and save loads of money instead of living in a secure compound like some places.
you can 100% do that.. im in my mid 20s right now, but im already saving to move to eastern europe some time, in my opinion "3rd world" countries have it bette, less social media and online bullshit you have to constantly hear.

Fascinating! I now have a new found respect for the Thai street vendors. This ladies work ethic is amazing. Great video Chris!
Chris I'm impressed you went the distance and was there at 2 AM and throughout their long, exhausting workday.
fantastic story ! Thanks ... I'll stop complaining my 9-5 telecommute work :)
These documents are valuable and going to value more in the future. Thank you for sharing this with the world ❤
Chris thank you for this excellent video! My wife loved the video as well. Not having music perfect! Felt like I was there. I wish her much success peace and happiness. Same to you!
Excellent vid Chris. Well done to whoever decided to stay out of vid and just ask Nor the questions. Much respect to her and her husband.
Respect to that lady. And to Thai people as a whole. They really know family. And hard work. Great video.
Very well done! When I walk by these food vendors I have often thought to myself, how much work it must be. This exceeded what I imagined. I got exhausted just watching her work! Her food looks delicious and her kitchen is clean. What an amazing episode.
Keep the change, you deserve more than it.
Kudos to all the hard-working men and women out there!
Definitely one of your best videos ! Respect to all Thai street vendors !
Great vlog. That is exactly what farangs need to understand. What everyday Thai people, who they take for granted, go through. Could be a series? Day in the Life of……………. taxi driver, motorcycle taxi driver, 7- Eleven employee, hotel receptionist, bar manager……. You name it.
Loved this video. I have so much respect for all the people in Thailand who work so hard in this business from morning to night.
Your creativity is amazing. Thanks for showing what millions of Thai's do every day, seven days a week and don't complain.
That was just bloddy incredible, I just did a 10 hr shift and i can never again complain. What i just seen goes to show what hard work is, This lady is very busy all the time, she also comes across very humble loving and a person you would love to hug....Plz pass on my love and happy future to her and the family..xxxxx
