In 1987? at Bathurst Australia it was WTCC which meant other countries could go in the race, there were the Texaco Sierria,s Andy Rouse and Peter Brock plus many others, the Texaco Sierra,s won the race but were later disqualified for using illegal fuel. Dick Johnson had the fastest Sierra,s he was annoyed by them cheating, he took two of his cars to the UK and raced the worlds best and beat ALL of them! The two cars were purchased there repainted and raced by a UK team. The DJR Sierra,s had in excess of 650hp they never actually said exactly how much, they were capable of producing more hp but the problem was getting the exhaust gases out quickly enough!
Those were the days of real cars, i mean you knew if you were looking at a Mercedes, a Audi, a Ford, a Alfa Romeo etc etc. They all had there own character compared to the sterile "all look the same" cars of today.....
There is a racing series among the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) in which these cars race like seen in this video. So I recommend every one who is into these classics and has the change to visit a DTM Race in Europe or Germany to do so. The sound of an Alfa 155 Q4 e.g. is amazing in person!
Great video as always but i will say this. Im super pissed off at the lack of help the marshalls gave to Smith in his EX Abt Audi A4. The car was lost sadly due to the shockingly poor attention by the marshalls.

The never raced here in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) or national DTC (one class lower) so there is no place for this cars.
Actually the R30s did but they never reach the top 10 rankings 😂
