I have a similar issue also a permanent frozen shoulder, the biggest issue for me is using a harp rack, I can't sing because it's too close to my mouth, getting old sucks.

You are quite welcome! I'd suggest getting with a chiropractor to get coaching on the finer points of doing the exercises. I could also send you the handouts for the two exercises. Send me an email with posture exercise handouts in the subject line ( give me a couple days till I get home and to my scanner) rrsleigh@gmail.com

Maybe we should start a support group! How long does it take you to go through the process?

Richard: First of all, thank you for your informative harmonica lessons. They've helped me on my learning journey. Good luck with the posture therapy!

Yeah, I sit in front of a computer all day. It is even worse after a day of workbench. Really tough to fix without help.

That's why I'm getting help. I'm working with a good chiropractor that also gets into some other disciplines...

I,ve had two new surgeries 15 years ago and now being 66 I also have issues but with my neck only turning to the left or right is limited so I am going to do the arm on head and letting the weight pull my head down.Neck always sore but playing the harp takes me to another place. Thanks Mr sleigh need that.

You might get some good ideas from a chiropractor or some kind of coach. I did a session with a physical therapist who observed me playing rack harp and he made a number of suggestions on how I could adjust the rack hold myself differently to avoid strain and deforming my neck... thanks for checking in!

    Thank you Richard. ❤
How would you reconcille harmonica playing and posture? Mainly when using two hands for cupping? I find it hard not to move the shoulders forward, thus restraining the space inside for my lungs.

When you start exploring this you will find that you can get straighter and that alone gives your lungs more space. But you can also work at maintaining the hand positions without collapsing your shoulders. For example, if you raise your elbows up your shoulders go back... Try leaning back also - the polar opposite of the harp players crouch...

Raised my elbows and indeed my shoulders go back. Will play with posture some more. And how I hold the harp. Goal is straight and relaxed.
All the best for the new year Richard! ❤
