Keep it going! I am at 2.25 mil. Biggest positions VOO, VTI, SCHD, VYM, and now looking to build up DRGO. I got $48,800 divs last year in taxable divs. Q2 taxable divs this year was $17,388 this year. I still have 5 years or so until retirement and I sleep well at night.
I like my money, like diabetes slow and steady! I am already retired and lucky for me, my F.A believes in investing for income. So I do have a check coming every month, my draw on my dividends.
Hi, I am trying to get an advisor for guidance but it's harder than you think. I am a doctor and the field of finance is not that close to me so far, but I am eager to bridge that gap. Starting with ETFs is my goal but with so many to pick from it's confusing the majority of the time. Do you know if your advisor is willing to consult with clients in other geographical areas?
Oh very well then, conducting due diligence on *Lina Dineikeine* should suffice. She has established a notable reputation over time, and her system is acclaimed for its outstanding quality. Good woman!
The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. $52k dividends received in 2022.
I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. You still need to have something that will keep you going even if you're investing. Good financial planning and money allocation is the key.
The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.
'Carol Vivian Constable, a highly respected figure in her field. I suggest delving deeper into her credentials, as she possesses extensive experience and serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking guidance in navigating the financial market.
Armchair Income is an absolute favorite of mine. The YT content is clear, concise and well-presented in a professional manner. As a person no longer in the workplace, I value his thoughts and respect his time spent researching and sharing what he has learned.
I believe the retirement crisis will get even worse. Many struggle to save due to low wages, rising prices, and exorbitant rents. With homeownership becoming unattainable for middle-class Americans, they may not have a home to rely on for retirement either.
Got it! Buying stocks during a recession when prices are down could be a good move. You might get them at a lower price and sell later when they go up. Just do your homework and be aware of the risks before diving in!
Armchair Income and Income Factory are my two favorite sources. I am a retired 85 year old and enjoy trading monthly using the NAV trends. Like Armchair Income I use dividends for current income and the remainder for reinvesting.
Haha! I’m a handful of years away from semi retirement and try to discuss these things with friends and colleagues, all except for one (who is a retired broker from the 2000’s) looks at me with mostly blank stares or rolled eyes. 🙄🫣😂

So great to see you two together in one video. You have both been exceptionally helpful in transitioning from a lifetime of growth investing to growth+income in retirement. Long live the income soup bowl.
Great tutorial on Income investing! I switched from value to income investing about 3 years ago with the help of Armchair and Dividend Bull. The income has really snowballed and I am totally happy with the results. Selling your holdings to fund your retirement creates a lot of stress and uncertainty. With steady dividend income, however, you know exactly how much funds are coming in and hopefully, you can build up your portfolio to the point where you won't have to sell anything in the retirement years

I am in my retirement years and just started investing in the market 2.5 years ago, and chose to do income or dividend investing exclusively (well, I tried some growth/dividend stocks but that strategy failed miserably, and I have now sold all of those stocks at a slight loss). I think many folks who invest in the market are the same crowd that loves going to Vegas and will stay up all night playing and playing for that big win. Their whole motivation for their investing is the big win, so if you take that away from them with a strategy of steady dividend investments with no growth potential, they absolutely blow up. Dave, great video with your guest, I have seen plenty of content from his channel, and have incorporated some of his ideas into my portfolio. Thank you for having him on your channel. Keep them coming please.😊
I'm retired and focus about 35% of my portfolio to income; just enough to cover my normal expenses. I like CEF's, and within those funds I focus on funds that distribute in the form of qualified dividends, long term cap gains, or return of capital. This keeps the taxes very low since the first $60K is taxed at 0% federally assuming there's no ordinary income. That's more than enough to cover my annual expenses.

I have close to a seven-figure portfolio, 70% income uk 🇬🇧 stocks, blue-chip companies, the rest in growth etfs sp500 nasdaq global technology, etc. I still like the growth aspect of investing and then selling off into income stocks. Growth stocks are still important to provide for future income. Armchair income is 💯
Great interview. I probably watch Armchair more than anyone else because we are both retired doing exactly the same thing. I would also recommend your channel and dividend bull. Yes, I no long get the occasional 1.0 to 1.4 million gain in one year. I also avoid the 500K+ losses. However, after income investing for 3 years I am approaching a 7 figure income, even if the general market doesn't gain a dime. My hope is the "snowball" will keep me out of "-" years as in theory it will act as a buffer in down markets. We'll see about that. I have learned to stay humble:) Thanks Dave...
Nice interview! I’m 35 so I’m in more growth and broad market funds but I have been allocating a percentage towards income funds, BDCs and REITs as well. It’s nice to see the consistent cash flow even if the upside is lower.
Hope you are aware of the impact of interest rates: *BDCs* benefit of rising/relatively high interest rates. On the contrary *MLPs, Preferred Socks, REITs* benefit of declinig/low interest rates. *CEF* and *ETF with option overlay* (from simple calls/puts to complex option strategies) need a closer look.
I watch both of your videos. Very informative. Been researching and buying monthly which is increasing my passive income totals. My end of year goal is $2000/month. May was $1198, June looks like $1305... I might make it.😊

Could you tell us the name of the news letter that you used? The one that told you to stay away from MPW… apparently they were in the know and were correct….
For those that are retired completely prior to social security age,how do you manage healthcare/insurance? I'd love to reach a point where I don't have to work a job, but need insurance because of health issues/needing medicine monthly.
Good question. I recently talked to "Two sides of FI" and if you look up their channel they discuss it in a few videos. One of them is using an ICHRA I believe.
2 of my favorites. I'm going for an income/dividend growth hybrid. Armchair Income is smart enough to reinvest a portion of his income to ensure income growth. This seems to be working during "normal" market condition. But I wonder how his strategy would work in an extended bear market (tech bubble, GFC, etc.)? I'm expecting income reduction even with my hybrid approach.
Good question... It would depend on the ETFs sustaining there distribution levels. I would suspect many would reduce and recovery would likely be slower versus growth. The pandemic is probably a poor comparison since it was short but Armchair did say his products held up well during that time.
Total return is always going to benefit you in the long run. If the value of one of your holdings goes up significantly, you can sell some of the stock. It's taxable, just like your dividends are (unless within a Roth). I would never give up total return for a smaller total return but with income. It just doesn't make sense.
I agree. Total return should be our primary driver. However, in retirement, giving up some gains for a more consistent return is quite attractive to many investors. Often just depends on your risk profile.
yes, but I keep getting mixed answers on this. other people say because its based on options, as long as the NAV doesn’t tank too much, if volatility is high, they can still maintain the distribution
I'm only starting my journey at 32 and hoping to retire by 60. Not sure if it's realistic just yet because I can only put in about $200 per month but with reinvesting and growth I'm hoping to have a relatively comfortable retirement. Not aiming to be rich.
Thank you both for sharing a great conversation! Other than funds expense ratio, does brokerage company, such as Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab’s charge any kind of fee to purchase any of his suggested funds ? Thanks.

Awesome interview!! Thank you Dave! Keep up the great content my friend.
Thanks!
Great collab ! Thanks for the info 👍
Could you tell us the name of the news letter that you used? The one that told you to stay away from
MPW… apparently they were in the know and were correct….
Before I subscribed to both of you I thought you were the same person for a minute. Haha. You both are great.
Ha!
Thanks for the #information & #Enlightenment brothers.
Thanks for watching!
Love your contents, you’re doing so well. Close to retire. How long before you lay off your dividends?
Great vid as always! Really cool seeing you guys put your heads together, even though you approach investing from different angles.
Thanks!
Great video indeed
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome info. Thanks guys.
Solid interview.
Good invite!
Thanks. Nice guy and good info.
I'm expecting income reduction even with my hybrid approach.
during a bear market doesnt matter what you invest into, it will dip, so does it actually matter? for me, just keep DCA its way out. lol
Great! Get started. 28 years is still a good amount of time. Best of luck!
SPYI, JEPQ, PBDC, PFFA
Superb
Thank you! Cheers!
Between spyi and jepi, which one does not have return of capital ?
I don't believe JEPI has any ROC... but would want to double check my tax statement.
I also use the 8% rule. I arrived at that number on my own before I even heard of this vlogger with the same rule.
Thank you both for sharing a great conversation! Other than funds expense ratio, does brokerage company, such as Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab’s charge any kind of fee to purchase any of his suggested funds ? Thanks.
Fidelity and Etrade do not. Most have gone away from those types of fees but always good to check.
