      Hi I have noticed almost every video now is for English learners. Do you plan on making any videos for learners of other languages? I would like to see videos on mastering French accents.

    • @mosalingua
      @mosalingua  5 лет назад +2

      Hi@@steveh9960, thanks for your comment. Many of our users are learning English, that's why we tend to produce a lot of content for English learners. I just recorded a video about different French accents and we do plan to add more variety on the channel with videos about other languages as well. Thanks for the heads-up: we'll try not to neglect learners of other languages from now on ;-)

    Hi, thanks for your amazing tips.
    I have a question, should I do it every day? And for how long? I have no idea whether I should do it for 2,3 minutes or 20 minutes every day

    • @mosalingua
      @mosalingua  3 года назад +3

      Hi Sahar,
      Great question! Our philosophy about language learning is that a little bit, every day, is better than a lot, every once in a while. In other words, it's better to shadow for 5 minutes a day 5-7 times a week than to try and do it for an entire 2-hour movie once a month. That's a good way to get annoyed with it! You never want language practice to feel like a chore, so only do as much as you feel excited about. It also depends on how much time you decide you are willing to dedicate to language learning. Make sure that you leave time for vocabulary practice and other types of learning activities, too, so if that means you can practice shadowing for 5 minutes a day a few times a week, that's just fine! Work at your own pace and enjoy the ride. 🙂
      I hope that helps. Feel free to reach out again if you have any other questions.

    This video is great and I'm sure the tips you give are helping a lot of people, I just think the first 2 minutes where the audio is off (and none of your lip movements match what you say) can actually throw off some people in learning from your words. I think if you want, you should put out a disclaimer that there was an issue with the audio in the first 2min, as English learners will only blame themselves and think your lips DO match what you're saying but they're just not getting it. Just a bit of advice from someone who knows how much following someone's face movements helps in learning a language. Wish you all the best!

      @mosalingua  3 года назад +1

      Hi there,
      Thanks for much for watching and for your comment. The video and audio match up okay on our end, could there be a problem with your internet connection that's causing it to be out of sync? You're very right-analyzing facial movements and mouth position can be a great help when it comes to pronunciation! In any case, I hope it won't disuade you from checking out some of our other videos!
      Have a great day,
      ABBE

    How many speakers should I imitate? And as I am a boy, can I imitate the female speakers, instead of males? I mean are there any subtle difference between the way they speak?

    • @mosalingua
      @mosalingua  4 года назад

      Hi Prachurz,
      You can shadow as many speakers as you like, as long as they have similar accents. It's easiest to stick to two or three because it can be difficult for non-native speakers to pick up on subtle differences in regional accents, but that's just our suggestion!
      Feel free to choose women or men to shadow - there aren't any significant differences in speech that are determined by gender. The only thing you should be aware of (which doesn't really apply for English, luckily) is grammatical gender. If you are mostly using shadowing as a technique to improve your pronunciation, you don't need to worry too much about this, but if you are using it to learn new words and phrases, be aware that sometimes words change depending on the gender of the speaker and you may need to modify new vocabulary when you use it to talk about yourself.
      Thanks for watching and take care,
