At 11:42, I had to laugh. Pep talks about finding tobacco and being addicted, then Rodney (referring to the morale track) says "if we get high enough, we can start healing". Don't you get addicted too, Rodney! LOL
I think this entire game was Friday walking around facepalming thinking either, "if I could just get these lunatics off the island," or, "Why won't they go to the resort on the other side of the island."
Actually this one is the easiest intro-level one with mathematical chance of ~85% of success. It's actually easy if You notice how the scenario is build like. Walkthrough incomming alert! Build yourself a shelter asap, then roof lvl 2 as the 1st weather die comes and lvl 3 roof as winter is comming - also by the time try to get weapon to level 3 so you don't suffer from the beasts from red die. Meanwhile crafting anything that will help your produce engine give all you need - mostly wood for the Objective. Focus on morale and not getting damage while playing high-risk dicy play. By the round 6-8, depending on the events - you should have no problems with anything as Your roof/weapon/etc. will be enough. Then use the last few turns to simply gather enough wood and place all on stocks. I did this scenario like 6 times already and lost 1 due to all events taking my wood and missing 1 turn to actually complete it all (solo). Did it 3 times solo / 2 times 2player / 1time 4 player. I recommend you use the dog in 2 player game as it only mathematicly increase your chances of going through the scenario.
Thanks for the playthrough. I played some rounds yesterday and had some questions but watching you guys play answerd them for me. Can't wait to play again.
Thanks for the uploads! Watched all 3 (more than once); super helpful and also very entertaining. I picked up a hoodie as well to show support 💪 Keep up the good work!
Thanks for this. You guys are truly entertaining. I legit LOLed on numerous occasions throughout these three playthrough videos. I have also decided to buy the game. Now to watch more videos by you....
I just got done playing this solo and watched all your videos. For some reason I may have just gotten lucky. I played pretty conservative most of the time( I think). It seemed pretty easy though I may have missed some rules at times(probably in my favor). I can see where you could cascade down into a avalanche of doom. I didn’t have trouble with food since playing solo. Super fun and want to try with a group.
Great play through. Easily my favorite game and it was great to see you guys do it justice (win or lose) by having so much fun in the process. So happy to see you doing these for/with Portal.
Thanks for the interest Michael! We don't tend to repeat game plays, but only because there are so many different games we hope to cover. So many games, so little time :)
Am I wrong, but the mast doesn't cost those items to build you just need to have them in your inventory when you try to perform the build action. This is why there aren't any numbers next to the hide and the wood on the mast card. The same thing applies with other cards if you need to give something to make the card it will have the number but if there isn't a number then all it depends on is if you have that item.
Well, keep in mind, it's your promo once you have it, you can choose to reuse it if you want, but the instructions are that it is a one use only promo.
thanks guys for this ''very funny'' gameplay :) I hope you'll do another scenario, great game. Will wait if they would release a french edition here in Canada
I still enjoy this game, and this play though is very fun (Thanks as always Rodney and Pep!). But it went exactly how I expected and exactly how I've experienced every other RC playthrough: With total, brutal, utter, unrelenting murderization. It.... it is POSSIBLE to win this game, right? Right?!?
Are you certain that you're supposed to lose food and wood due to lacking a roof level during the weather phase? I'm pretty sure that it says take wounds in the rulebook to the first edition of the game. Also, when it says "IF POSSIBLE: Discard 1 wood", what happens if you don't have that wood in this situation? Do you take a wound or will nothing happen? I mean, you'd normally assume to take a wound due to the "unfulfilled requirements" rule if it had just said "discard 1 wood", but since it specifies "IF POSSIBLE", that had me wondering...
Yep, I'm sure. You'll want to check in the second edition rule book though, that's what we are using here (it's available online as well, so you can play it with your first edition copy). You only have to fulfill "If Possible" commands, if it's possible in that moment. If you don't have the wood, then you are fine.
I just played it for the first time and so I decided to watch your game to see how close I got with the rules but I did notice that you guys didn’t roll the weather dice when you were supposed to
Rain that is not countered by a shelter also requires wood and a food. You'll find the full process detailed at this time stamp: ruclips.net/video/1b__PzNtWxI/видео.htmlm41s
Maybe you could have burned the belongings of the thousands of castaways who died on that island before you... I know there are at least five sets of corpses from my gaming group alone ... plus a few from solo attempts. (btw: This is an awesome game! Really glad you covered it. :) )
So I'm watching your videos to get a grasp of how to play and I've found them extremely helpful. I don't know if anyone will see this question, but do you not have to roll anything when resolving threats? You just pay the resource price and it's solved?
I’m happy that you guys failed too. We played yesterday our first round and lost 2 rounds before the ship would come. We had fire and the wood ready. Unfortunately we played it wrong consider your video. For rain clouds we spend for each cloud left wood and food for each player (2player game) and we execute the thread cards already when they came on the send row (before discard). Somehow it’s written like this in the German rulebook.
There were a number of errors/points of confusion in the various translations, unfortunately. We worked with the publisher on this, so I'm relatively confident we have it right :)
I really enjoyed this playthrough. Do you think you went too much on exploration? It seemed like you maybe should have played a bit more conservatively building the rope, sling/knive, roof, cellar, moreso. I am just wonder as I just ordered the game. Anyway, thanks. It was fun to watch. You guys have good chemistry.
If you plan to add wood to your woodpile (for the objective) then you must do it before performing the Actions phase. And you may only complete one pile at a time (at most). So if we had 10 wood, and the next wood pile section required 3 wood, we could at most, place 3 wood that round. Hope that helps.
Most definitely did! Got this game for Christmas and found it incredibly hard (but in a good way), but was having trouble trying to figure out how to do the woodpile. We have the first edition and it doesn't come with all the extra art, or unique shaped pieces for perishable/non-perishable/pelts etc. and I assume it is missing some extra helpful rules. Thanks for the quick response!
I watched all 3 episodes. That was amazing. You guys are very funny! The humor along the way was great. Keep it up. Maybe there are more of these types of vids, I'll have to look. I'm trying to play this right now solo and many questions come up along the way that I can't seem to find answers to in the rule book. One that's been keeping me up is, when you build the mast to acquire 3 wood to use on the woodpile, is that a one time use, or can you keep putting an action token there during an Action phase to keep getting 3 wood? Thanks again guys! :)
Hey Stacie, so glad you enjoyed. This one does have a lot of rules :) Unfortunately, while I try to answer all questions on our videos, individual cards and effects are a little more detailed than I can get into for all the games I cover. I do find the forums on BoardGameGeek can be very helpful for this sort of thing though!
hard to say what could have been done differently but i think you guys neglected your weapon level too much. building that early would have let you hunt and that would help with your food requirements. when you started taking all the wounds maybe the pot would have been a good idea. who knows... maybe you were both screwed even before u started! this game loves to punish players..its soooooo good though!
Despite all your sufferings and in your terrible disheveled state from trying to survive on an island, you two seem very happy in thumbnails. Is this a Canadian trait?
@@WatchItPlayed Lol thanks for the reply on a 4 year old video. Haha. Yes I enjoyed watching your playthrough. I just got the game just this week. Watching this is going to help me explain the rules to my wife. Hopefully I don't make as many mistakes! 😂
it's amazing that you guys never even failed. every dice roll was a success. crazy!
Good use of the peeperscope.. that was a nice surprise!
That Pep! We now call it a Pepiscope!
At 11:42, I had to laugh. Pep talks about finding tobacco and being addicted, then Rodney (referring to the morale track) says "if we get high enough, we can start healing". Don't you get addicted too, Rodney! LOL
It's a slippery slope!
the're very funny :)
Rodney's earnest, yet misguided, positivity is absolutely hilarious. Great play through. Very entertaining to watch.
Thanks for joining us Wayne!
I think this entire game was Friday walking around facepalming thinking either, "if I could just get these lunatics off the island," or, "Why won't they go to the resort on the other side of the island."
He's finally rid of us :)
Maybe because bad things happens on the other side of the Island. :O
Now, he can feed you to his pet predators .
Loved this playthrough... I feel like Pep had the last laugh having given Rodney a sense of lost hope.
He always gets the last laugh!
Can you guys do a playthrough of a different scenario? That would be awesome. EVERYONE does this scenario.
Sorry to disappoint on that, as we don't repeat play through (so many games we're trying to cover, so little time!).
Watch It Played All good. This playthrough was still great.
Thank you :)
Abel Yang i'm just praying they do long night since technically it's a different board game and not an expansion
Actually this one is the easiest intro-level one with mathematical chance of ~85% of success. It's actually easy if You notice how the scenario is build like. Walkthrough incomming alert!

Thanks for the playthrough. I played some rounds yesterday and had some questions but watching you guys play answerd them for me. Can't wait to play again.
We hoped that playing it through could help clarify some rules questions. Glad this helped!
You should play again. I'd love to watch you try to beat it again. This game looks fun.
IF we do, it will be offline, I'm afraid :) So many different games to cover!
Understandable. Keep up the good work. New to your channel but really enjoy what yall do.
Great to have you joining us!
16:56 - "and we have so much wood coming in now. . ." yeah, along with the snow dice starting next round :>
Your playthroughs make my day, thanks for everything!
Glad you enjoyed it Pablo :)
Really enjoyed that, I'm at turn three. This has really help my understanding of how it plays. Thx
You're welcome Andy - glad this has been helpful!
You killed Bennie, and Pennie, Nooooooo! R.I.P. In the goat heaven
That was hilarious! In the next episode, with palm leaf hats and toga wearing....LOL
Thanks for the uploads! Watched all 3 (more than once); super helpful and also very entertaining. I picked up a hoodie as well to show support 💪 Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for the support, and for sporting the Watch It Played colors. Appreciate you - have fun playing!
Does breaking the spyglass officially make this a legacy game?
Thanks for this. You guys are truly entertaining. I legit LOLed on numerous occasions throughout these three playthrough videos.
I have also decided to buy the game. Now to watch more videos by you....
Welcome to the channel - I hope you find more videos that you'll enjoy :)
Good news there is a ship coming. Bad news is that the ship is the Flying Dutchman.
This play through actually got me really excited to play Robinson Crusoe. Great content! thanks guys
Have a great time playing!
I just got done playing this solo and watched all your videos. For some reason I may have just gotten lucky. I played pretty conservative most of the time( I think). Well done on your first play!
Great play through. Easily my favorite game and it was great to see you guys do it justice (win or lose) by having so much fun in the process. So happy to see you doing these for/with Portal.
Thanks Anthony - Portal games has been a great friend of the show!
I had so much fun watching. Please do another scenario
Thanks for the interest Michael! We don't tend to repeat game plays, but only because there are so many different games we hope to cover. So many games, so little time :)
Where those ragged shirts came from??? 🤣
Guessing from blue's attack

A good question, but I did check with the publisher on this, there should be a "1" beside those resources on the mast. You do spend the resources.
So that promo when used you have to break it ant its not used again, ever?
Well, keep in mind, it's your promo once you have it, you can choose to reuse it if you want, but the instructions are that it is a one use only promo.
enjoyed the play through guys! Entertaining as always. =o)
Thanks for joining us again Dragonpynk :)
Fear my predictions, I am Nostradamus incarnate.
On the nose!
When you build the mast, can you use it to gain 3 wood towards the pile once per round? Or is it just a one time thing?
It's been awhile since I recorded this one, but if memory serves, it's a one time thing.
You guys are a great duo! It's like watching a stand-up comedy show :)
Glad you're enjoying our mis-adventures.
thanks guys for this ''very funny'' gameplay :) I hope you'll do another scenario, great game.
Will wait if they would release a french edition here in Canada
Very glad you enjoyed it Yann :)

You're welcome Mihail!

Awesome playthrough. So i guess Friday won hahaha. Waiting for the next playthrough :)
Friday finally got us off his island :)
I just played it for the first time and so I decided to watch your game to see how close I got with the rules but I did notice that you guys didn’t roll the weather dice when you were supposed to
Hey Nick, I'm not sure if you have the rule wrong, or we do - can you elaborate?
At 7:12 why did u lose a wood and a food to a rain cloud? Isn't a wood piece only used when a "snow cloud" comes up?
Rain that is not countered by a shelter also requires wood and a food. You'll find the full process detailed at this time stamp: ruclips.net/video/1b__PzNtWxI/видео.htmlm41s
Thank you very much brother!

(btw: This is an awesome game! Really glad you covered it. :) )
Ha! As you say, we aren't the first to lose this game!
This game would be awesome to have an app for, so you don't see what event can trigger in the future
They have a new game coming out in 2017 called First Martian that borrows some of the ideas from this game, and does use an app.
Cool
So I'm watching your videos to get a grasp of how to play and I've found them extremely helpful. I don't know if anyone will see this question, but do you not have to roll anything when resolving threats? You just pay the resource price and it's solved?
Unless a threat tells you otherwise specifically, you don't need to roll. You're exactly right, just pay the resource price!
Pep was on fire with the non-stop puns this game. He could be a writer on Futurerama or Family Guy, something like that.
No doubt!
I’m happy that you guys failed too. We played yesterday our first round and lost 2 rounds before the ship would come.

So glad you enjoyed! As for our strategies, it's been long enough since I shot this, that I don't recall what might have done us in :)
So I am confused on when you guys put your wood into the wood pile. Did you just do it on ends of turns where you had extra wood left over?
If you plan to add wood to your woodpile (for the objective) then you must do it before performing the Actions phase. And you may only complete one pile at a time (at most). So if we had 10 wood, and the next wood pile section required 3 wood, we could at most, place 3 wood that round. Hope that helps.

You're very welcome! (and yep, the 1st edition rules are pretty bad, BUT the new edition rules can be downloaded online).
Thanks!
I watched all 3 episodes. That was amazing. You guys are very funny! The humor along the way was great. Keep it up. Maybe there are more of these types of vids, I'll have to look.

Oh we got a punishing all right :)
You left goats in your camp for multiple days and expected no predators? Tsk tsk tsk!
A ridiculous oversight on our part!
Scenario 2 please!!!
Glad you enjoyed this play through!
Don’t worry, we just made a knife!
Has anyone heard of potential release date for Robinson Crusoe 2nd edition?
any news at all?
Estimated Release Date: December 2016
Pre-Order Notes: Expected Release: December 2016/January 2017. Date subject to change.
It depends on where you live I believe. I got mine today! (Sweden).
Did you end up grabbing a copy?
This is a late comment, but why did you roll dice with the fire? You had 2 pawns there, isn't that auto success?
We didn't actually roll for the fire, that was the roll for the mast beforehand. We did auto succeed on the fire!
Brutal!
Any hope on How to play: Great Western Trail? :)
I don't like to pre-announce anything, because the schedules can change. We'll see!
You two just have gone to heal on one or two previous rounds!
Despite all your sufferings and in your terrible disheveled state from trying to survive on an island, you two seem very happy in thumbnails. Is this a Canadian trait?
It does seem so :)
How you manage to keep happy after losing your leg from a painful gangrene, it's a mystery I'll never know. :/
't was but a flesh wound.
Why did you go exploring soo much?
I shot this long enough ago, I couldn't tell you why we did what we did. I'm sure we had reasons at the time, but hopefully you have fun watching.
@@WatchItPlayed Lol thanks for the reply on a 4 year old video. Haha. Yes I enjoyed watching your playthrough. I just got the game just this week. Watching this is going to help me explain the rules to my wife. Hopefully I don't make as many mistakes! 😂
G(reat)G(ame) despite being defeated
Not an unusual outcome :)
Promo legacy, what times we are living in ;)
*Sigh* it was this one... It was this video that made me go ahead and buy the game... #shame
I'm happy we could help you make up your mind about the game!
That was a little unlucky , you should have healed yourself sooner.
You have to priotitize weather. That will hurta lot and both of you. Also it was half the game and you hadno weapon.
Good tips!
Lol
Sorry y'all died & stuff, but perhaps you can use the broken spyglass & "distressed" T-shirts in a future fund-raising endeavor :)
Ha! Always look for the silver lining :)
