Her teaching is still needed in choirs today!! The demand for excellence when doing something for God and under the anointing of the Holy Ghost is what a lot of Choirs have lost.
These new church folk couldn’t take her style of teaching.. they would think she is too mean. Now days these folk don’t want you to correct their bad singing. I came up under Dr Clark. I went to her conservatory every summer. I have been a Min of Music for over 30 years.
Dr Clark was 61 years of age and a young Twinkie 32 years old in this clip in 1986 , I was 4 years old and I am now 41 years old going on 42 in November 2024 😅❤❤❤ boy oh boy time flies🤦🏽♂️!

@6:15 I love how she said “a drummer can kill the spirit” and the fact she said “thats why I make the muscians get in the choir stand so they can learn the song properly” so they can know how to play the song ! Mattie was a true musician and listener 🙌🏽💯😅❤❤❤ teach mother !
You have done it again for me. As an admirer of Mattie Moss Clark I Thank you profusely brother for sharing these rare very rare gems of a world class lady. And look at Twinkie, strengthen her Lord and prolong her days on the earth, she has served in your house her whole life!
Special shout out to those who sang and rehearsed, the musicians, and the video person and all who played a part in this, special thanks to the one who uploaded this experience to share with the world. Dr. Mattie Moss didn’t play, some of us wouldn’t be able to contain ourselves, some of us too sensitive now to take this correctional but we serve a God of excellence who deserves an excellent praise. Thankful for this
This is great! To see Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, teaching a choir during a workshop is the best. This video captures the personality and the spirit of who she was and what her purpose was to the music ministry.
I had the honor of being in a choir that she directed in DC...the U.N.A.C choir of the Church of God in Christ. There were about 100 or so people in the choir and THAT night I witnessed the famous shoe! ((0 0)). The rest of the story is that someone returned the shoe! (giggle). Best believe though, that choir was RIGHT! I miss this sound! :(
@6:41 I love how she told the drummer “hit it Brutha” like watch my hand Mattie played no games and the fact the drummer caught on by watching her hand , I love her constructive criticism ❤❤❤
That’s Brotha Willie “Bo Tee” Gollatt. From my home church in San Francisco. His mother (Sis. Murtha Gollatt) was our minister of music. He went on to play on several recordings such as the Hawkins and their cousin Min. Lawrence Mathews. Good Peoples Good Times🔥
@@MaeSekouthat’s wassup I hope he didn’t take Dr Clark too serious she meant business and perfection for God but it worked out for his good (the drummer ) she taught him some gems and nuggets for life. Dr Clark the goat and that drummer 🥁👏🏽🙌🏽

Imagine being in rehearsal for musicians then choir then had to be at the event early in the morning or late and night then have to be up again the next day.
@@jayhbizWow. I didn’t know that. But I know she wore it out. She is the shadow of Mattie. On that Sunday at the musical I don’t remember Dorinda being there. She may have had to fly out early. It was just Dr. Clark, Twinkie, and Karen.
I remember two rehearsals with Mattie Moss Clark ....all were attentive and willing to give 100%....it was not unusual for rehearsals to turn into full-blown anoited services
🙌🏽 Great job choir. Wow what a powerful clip. Elder Tony McGill still has that powerful voice and has recorded a choir album with Dr. Mattie Moss Clark since then. To God be the glory.
I was raised Church of God and start singing at 4. As a teenager we had one director she would throw a songbook or shoe it did'nt matter😅 We were drilled liked marines. But, between Billye Bailey, Quincy Fielding and Claude Carothers, we were good. Could'nt no one play the hymnals like Sis. Carrie Hunter😊
When we left for rehearsal we had a whole lot more than just the song. And that's what they have here working with Dr clarke. They're getting a whole lot more than just the song they're learning. May she rest joyfully in Glory.
YES HE IS IN THE PLACE THE ANOINTING IS THERE SHE MENT GOD ALL THE WAY EVEN FROM HER HOME 🏡 INTO THE WORLD AND THOSE WHO KNEW HER THEY WILL SAY THE SAME THING TO GOD BE THE GLORY..BLESS HIS HOLY NAME.
I could see on Twinkie face, if you are honest, that she was growing weary of always at these rehearsals and conventions playing. It came out in the movie when she says to Mom “All you want is me to play the organ. I'm sure she was just frustrated because she loved her mother. Satan as he did to our parents Adam and Eve will make you think you're missing out on life.
I seen it in her face too! Especially when her mom was giving instructions! But I love what she did with the group TCS between 86-90 before she left that too some of her best work
I’m just as excited to discover this piece of History! Many don’t know that Dr. Clark frequented San Jose back in the day, even when she wasn’t ministering!
In the beginning she goes down a key on savior and then changes again going up on Oh let me from this day. It’s a very liturgical piece of music/ orchestral
No problem I also hear in the beginning Twinkie inverts every note when each section comes in she’s basically playing the chord of of each section as they come in but that striking chord on oh is very important .im still listening for more pointers!
You have a trained ear. Their rehearsals were indeed reflective of a strong consistent working relationship between a director and musician, a rarity these days.....@jayjohnson9489
Having been in a few of her workshops back then, we respected her excellence and appreciated the greatness she brought to singing in a choir. Not mean - these days people are used to half doing things, and the demand for excellence is now called being mean.
Her teaching is still needed in choirs today!! The demand for excellence when doing something for God and under the anointing of the Holy Ghost is what a lot of Choirs have lost.
Not only that, but how she emphasizes the Spirit, and being directed from God concerning choir directing! It’s unheard of today!
You are absolutely correct ✅ and it’s sad!!! I’m ready excited about part two!!!!
