How to Pattern & Sew A Bustier for Smart Doll // Pattern DIY
Hello everyone!!
This week I really wanted to have a mini pattern-making moment and teach y'all how easy it can be to alter existing patterns ! This time I'll be teaching you how draft a bustier pattern from a previous pattern I've provided. (linked below) Can you guess which pattern it is? If you guessed the fitted Dress Pattern, you're correct!
If you already have this printed and wouldn't like to waste more ink, I recommend tracing the pattern or sacrificing it in order to transfer it to cardstock paper or manilla folders. That way it'll be easier to trace and won't wear out as quickly, eliminating the need to print a pattern every time you want to use it.
With that aside, the bustier in the video features a cut-out and I go over how to do that. It's the main focus of todays video however I'd like to emphasize that its not mandatory. If you follow the pattern guide in the video and exclude the heart it'll still work! It'll be a regular Bustier! You won't need a facing if you exclude the cut-out. Instead I recommend you add a lining by cutting two of the main body pieces (2x CF & CB) and sewing them together at the neckline and hem before flipping it to show the right sides. From there fold in the ends in and sew them before adding your desired closure!
In terms of video editing, its my first time doing a full narration while sewing in real time, sorry if I get a bit confusing or mix up my words!
