    About the 3.03 inches:
    You have common restrictions like 3, 4 and 5 inches in america in different states, as far as I know.
    But for one thing, America is not the only knife importing country.
    From what I know of restrictions in other countries:
    Denmark - 70mm (2.75591in)
    England, Ireland, Scotland - 75mm (2.95276in).
    Poland, Spain, Turkey, Greece - 90mm (3.54331in)
    Japan - 80mm (3.14961in)
    France - 100mm (3.93701in)
    And there are probably other exotic ones I don't know about.
    But what America is unique (almost) in is the imperial system of measurement.
    And that means that all machines and all workers in the manufacturer's factory think, count and work in millimeters, and 76,2mm can easily turn into more convenient 77mm (3,0315in) due to a mistake.
    Or no one thought about inches at all and just used a nice 77mm.

      @narfash-yt 2 месяца назад

      It's not like that. In Poland, there are no limits as to the length of the knife carried.
      There are a few exceptions, for example, blade cannot pretend to be something else (for example, cane swords and umbrella swords are prohibited), but you can carry, for example, a saber (although you may get some surprised looks and a policeman may become interested).
      It is also forbidden to carry any knives to mass events, such as a concert or match, which seems understandable.
      Apart from a few special cases, there are no restrictions.

    Just a minor point, 'Simplistic' means making something simpler than it really is. It's not synonymous with 'simple', which I think is what you're going for, as they don't mean the same thing. Simplistic usually has a somewhat negative connotation as well (as in, it's used in situations where a complex situation has been unfairly reduced).
    Sorry 😂 just the English teacher in me rearing my ugly head.

    I'm guessing that the loud chirping is meant for self defense so it should be coupled with a strobe function along with a mistake proof activation. I've always liked the pull pin style ( like a hand grenade ) because the alarm stays on even if your thumb slips or the device is dropped.

    I am not a big fan of these card wallets. I start out with 5 must carry items: Driver's License, CHL, retired ID, insurance card and a key card. That severely limits what I carry in the wallet. I have been carrying a standard wallet in my front pocket since 1970. It is not a new thing for me.
    I get the disappointment in the fractionally above 3" on blades but in most States a CHL negates the limit.

    IMO your Keysmart magnet idea seems a lot more elegant for detaching a 58mm SAK from a key ring compared to the moon-shaped case. I’ve been using the magnet for about a year and a half (now in titanium, definitely get that version) and it’s excellent.

    What is the purpose of a strobe mode anyway? Multiple levels, sure. Red light, sure. But I can think of no situation where I want strobe. For emergency use, I want something that flashes an SOS, but that's not what a strobe is.
    Can anyone explain when you'd want strobe on a carryable flashlight? Because I cannot think of one.

    I got one of those flat flashlights. The tri button switch is simple to use for a novice or a person who isnt going to like to do a bunch of clicks. Ya the strobe in the cycle is kinda hokey. The alarm is super great for a woman or a man (I guess) as a personal safety deterrent...you dont want a switch that in a panic you have to do a bunch of actions...say a woman jogging, weirdo aproaches, just press the panic button. I really dont think its that big of a deal, for $20 its great

    Check out hard2hurt's videos on flashlights and you will understand the purpose of the screeching flashlights. High lumens for blinding and an alarm? This was tailored with self defense in mind with nonlethal options. I would get that to deal with my neighbor's aggressive dog if it gets loose, since I would rather scare the mutt away than be forced to draw my concealed carry if it attacks. Seems like a decent light to use if you have the discipline and trained to use it with that purpose in mind.

  • @googleuser6635
    @googleuser6635 Месяц назад

    Agree on the screecher light. The inspection light is fine, but I could not justify carrying it. It would not replace any other flashlight. The dual emitters are fine. I like the warm white. There are other, better options for inspection.
    I hate strobe. No flashlight should have strobe. I hate cycling modes. I want direct access to whatever I want. The clip on that light sucks.
    On the flat flashlight, the bulb options are fine. The strobe and screech have got to go. Activation of the lights is aldo an issue. I'm not sure why the light goes green. In some ways, this light is better than the Arkfeld.
    Not a fan of that wallet.

      With the state of things around my city, the sound would be effective to disperse drug addicts. They’ve been getting more aggressive in the public transit. I work on these buildings, our work policy and living in Canada means self defence is not supposed to be an option. With the noise and the fact I usually wear hearing protection, that could be useful 😂 I think I’d prefer a whistle though 😂

      So, a coworker got drugged with a paste mixture that was smeared on her skin (possibly by sex traffickers) in the middle of a Target. She was INSTANTLY unable to speak and could feel her motor control deteriorating rapidly; if she’d had something like this flashlight or an electronic r*pe whistle in hand, it might’ve saved the day. It’s kind of a brilliant self defense tool: flashlight to spot danger, crenellated edge for an emergency strike, and loud “whistle” to call for help.
      (And just so you don’t worry, she did escape them by flailing and knocking down nearby merchandise off of the shelves, drawing the attention of security. Haven’t heard if they ever caught the guys, but knowing Target’s security/surveillance I don’t like the creeps’ chances)

    I don't need a light that has 7000 functions. Flashlight makers have gone the way of the automotive industry; 10,000 bells and whistles that no one needs or wants. I need an EDC light that is quality, a single AA, has white High/Low and has red High/Low at most. Maybe 300 Lumens on High white. Can't find anything. disclaimer: self-defense is a basic human right, and in places of the world that deny your right to defend physically, crime prevention buzzers are a vital option to have. that being said, I absolutely agree with your assessment. if someone is in the market for a buzzer, it's much better to get a dedicated one where even if the button is easily pressed, the risk of accidental activation is much lower because it isn't used often and there's more awareness of handling it carefully
