I love that other people want to cover Michael's music. This is a powerful song. I can see why someone would want to do it. I like it. It's different, but good.
When I hear this version of the song, I imagine either and uprising against medieval oppression or rebellion of the Puritans and non-conformists in the 17th century.
In europe most of these guys are that famous.. they are all from huge metal bands.. like sonata arctica, Nightwish, tarot and charon.. they do this as a fun side project plus being a longtime fan I know tony and marko are songwriting geniuses
Regardless of what Micheal may or may not have done, he was first and foremost a musician, Micheal would gladly perform to this version if he were still alive I feel.

Epic. I love both versions. These singers are amazing. Of course, no one else will ever have the vocal style as Michael Jackson, but the point of the 'cover' is to pay homage to a GREAT SONGWRITER, if they did it exactly like Michael Jackson, what would be the point of listening to this version. Amazing, some of my favorite singers in one band...hell of a supergroup, keep going guys!!!
These singers are not try to do better than Michael, Northern Kings sings this song in they own way. And I must say that I LOVE IT!!! Jackson is allways Jackson (r.i.p.), Northern Kings is and will be allways Northern Kings. :)
I think the Northern Kings made a great cover and deserve to stand in their own light. Both songs are great but I like this one better. I could be biased as Hietala is one of my favorite musicians, but I still think this one is better :)

Just want to note, that MJ had 4 octave vocal range. It isn't the widest, but he certainly had lot of control over his voice, when he wasn't dancing. And he had wider vocal range than most of the vocalists.
Probably not for the highest state possible, but his actual voice was low. And he could jump from low to high, or from high back to low. When it comes to vocal range.. umm maybe yeah. But when it comes to musical genious and voice like no-one has ever heard, Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson are above all.
MJ was a dancer at heart and opted to dance over sing when he was live and he also sped the songs up to fit in with the dancing and for many years he accomplished this but in later years he struggled more so opted to lyp-synch as he would sound poor due to being out of breath, no artist has done it like him on the stage, remember that.

No one can top Michael Jackson. He was just too unique. Making a cover that trumps the original is a tall order.
