- São Paulo is on another level of being a 'busy city'. It currently has the largest population in all the America's and is definitely one of the most visited places in all of South America. It can feel overwhelming when you first arrive here, but I hope my video will help you learn about some of the most popular districts of the city, where might be a good area to get your accommodation and some other suggestions of attractions to see, places to eat at and just some general information of things you should know about the city. I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. The city is really nice and there are also many attractions, but safety is always too important. Thank you Alina for letting us know the beauty if Brazil.
1. Have you noticed that the black and white tiles on the sidewalks have the shape of São Paulo state map?
2. Coxinha is pronounced cosheenya. It was invented in the 19th century by a nanny of the brazilian royal family (Brazil was a kingdom by then) who took care of one of the infants who suffered from some kind of mental problem. The child would only eat chicken thighs. One day they ran out of chicken thighs and she used shreded chicken meat shaped like a chicken thigh using some kind of dough to keep it together, hoping the kid wouldn't notice. The kid liked it and since then it became very popular. Coxinha means small thigh. Coxa means thigh.

Fun facts about São Paulo: further to what you said, the State of São Paulo has about 44 million inhabitants. The city of SP seats on a plateau averaging 760 m above sea level but the coast is not that far: only 80 km separates the City Centre from the coastal city of Santos. Because of the altitude and being right on the Tropic of Capricorn São Paulo has a "crazy" climate and can be chilly in winter (for Brazilian standards). There aren't many Chinese people here but the Japanese community is the biggest outside Japan (they live mainly the in the Liberdade district). The Italian community is also huge and Bixiga (or Bela Vista) is where you'll find their restaurants. Other important communities: Lebanese, Syrian, Portuguese, Spanish, Jewish, Bolivians and Nordestinos (Brazilians from Nordeste/Northeastern Brazil). To a lesser extent: Slavic, African, Peruvian, Paraguayans, North Americans, Germans, French and Northern Europeans.

As always a great visual tour of the city and some of it's food. The ambient restaurant noise made the food descriptions from your friends hard to hear but that is life in the wild. Glad you were able to enjoy what appeared to be a city of many charms and that you took us along to see some of them.

Yes, São Paulo has dangerous neighborhoods; like in any big city. But even so, it's less than what exists in neighborhoods like skid roll, or places like oakland, philadelphia and etc... . See this ranking: pt.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Especial:History/Lista_de_cidades_por_taxa_de_homic%C3%ADdios
And note that there are 5 cities in the USA that are more violent than São Paulo, apart from the others in other countries.
The problem is the negative propaganda and ignorance about violence in general.
Not that São Paulo is a security master, of course one should be careful but the exaggeration is too great.

That’s fair but I wouldn’t consider the major cities of USA safe places either lol. Of course we should never only focus on safety but when certain neighborhoods have genuine issues that a new tourist should be careful of, they should be told ahead of time. Walking around paulista avenue by myself, no problem, nothing to worry about. Walking around Centro historico and getting stared at like prey by the drug addicts, thank goodness I was not alone and in a group.

I was born and raised in São Paulo but haven't been there since 1973 when I was 16 and have been living in the US since, these videos about São Paulo make me nostalgic because even though I haven't been there since the early 70's, the City still looks very familiar, because many things that are there now, were already there in the early 70's, it still looks like the City that I grew up in, sure, there are some new things but for the most part it still looks the same, after all, in a 400+ year old City, many of those features were already in place long before I was born, as far as things that have come to be after I left, the Metro is one, that Batman alley is another, but as far as neighborhoods that are worth a visit, Liberdade is one of them and happens to be where a large portion of the people of Japanese immigrant ancestry have settled. It is profoundly sad that there's a 95% chance that I will never see São Paulo or any other place in Brail again as I went and got old and of failing health. sigh! I'll have to settle with watching the videos on RUclips. thanks to the people that make these videos, so i can vicariously visit Brazil and my Home City through their videos
