What a grand and intoxicating demo.
Why do I feel like Bethesda secretly developed this technology 20 years ago and used it to do all the voice lines for Oblivion
Not sure if it's true, but apparently the voice actors received an alphabetically sorted list of all the lines in the game. So the reason it's so weird line-to-line is because the VAs had no context for each line.
@@JaceMorley, yeah sadly they didn’t have much to go on, if they did it right, and had the actors have genuine conversation face to face with the lines, it could’ve sounded really good, it’s sad that an AI sounds just like oblivion and fallout 3 voice acting.
Would be hilarious but the fact that you could find bloopers in game makes that a bit hard to believe.
@@JaceMorleyI don't have a source on hand, but I read that the original version of the script was lost during recording and that's why the actors had to work off a backup (the alphabetically sorted one)
This is a literal game changer. This will make Morrowind more accessible to so many people.
this is literal game changer for future game development.
you dont need to pay voice actors anymore to voice all the lines, you just pay morgan freeman to say a few lines and then give it to AI to replicate morgan freeman voice to narrate your ingame experience..
no need for voice actors means that developers can write in depth dialogue without being restraint by calculating how much money do they need to pay keanu reeves to voice that lines.
@@spatrk6634 all they'd have to do is license out voices, actors sign on and let a company use their voice for a ai model, this would be perfect for minor characters and major characters could still be normally voiced
@@carlpvnsem2875 i doubt if this AI is so good that anyone would ever want to pay a voice actor lines ever again.
sure, license for voices is logical.
but after that devs could write books worth of dialogue and have it all voiced without need to pay
Me included, calling me a skybaby all you want but I've never got myself to play morrowind because of, among the dated combat and graphics, the lack of voice acting. That always just..put me off.
With this? I will play the game.
Over 40% and already well worth it. All the interesting dialogue is done.
17% and going higher, I'll try this mod once it's completed, This is THE morrowind project.
Nah, THE Morrowind project is Tamriel Rebuilt. Or Open MW. You know, now that I'm thinking of it, Morrowind community got a lot of very cool projects🤔
Didn't expect to see you here.
It’s only been 8 months and they’re up another 30%.
At this rate they’ll be done before the decade is out, and I think that’s pretty cool
Over 40% now. Honestly all of the NPCs that matter have it and it has been a game changer for me. I couldn't get into Morrowind before and would always just end up playing skyrim. Now I can't stop!
Been a little over a year now and they're currently 60% done. If they keep up like this, they could finish the mod by the end of the year. Very impressed by how much progress has been made in such a short time.
If AI continues to get better we can stitch together some convincing voice acting. Like angry tone, sarcastic tones, etc.
The potential of AI is beyond comprehension. Very useful and cool uses will appear that we still can't figure out.
It already can it just needs more inputs. Super exciting stuff though.
The vocal performances are accurate, yet flat. They aren't very expressive, but that's likely due to it just being a burgeoning tech probably. It's honestly a bit startling to see this though. We're watching the floorboards of everything we knew and what was get ripped up in real time.
Good work with this, but I can only wonder what our collective persistence down this path will have wrought.
What do you mean by that 😅..
I suspect that the voice model was trained on audiobook narration where that style of flat performance is quite common.
at least it's still better then real voice acting in games from around 2002
This is incredible. It adds a lot of life to the game and hopefully it'll help newer players retain information and follow the narrative better as well! Just imagine how this technology will sound in a few years and how it'll help other classic CRPGs. Good stuff.
I'm already seeing fallout 2 having complete voice acting, which would be great
Can confirm, I'm a new player, this video told me what I'm supposed to be doing in Balmora.
Classic classic?
14:07 lol, Caius doesn't give two shits.
Hes tired of dealing with elves
"yeayea shuddafuckup, so like, I guess the emperor wants me to make you a member of the blades"
I really hope openMW updates to allow this. What a great mod!
Beautiful mod. I think the talking speed is great as is. Doesn't need to be any slower, it's already a huge game. Slow "cinematic style" speech doesn't work to well in heavy text based games for me personally; in games like Fallout or Skyrim I find myself skipping dialogue frequently because they talk way too slow. Having faster talking speed also makes it sound a bit more realistic.
yeah if anything the ability to play the dialogue at a faster rate (especially if it downpitches accordingly so it doesn't go chipmunk mode) would be great
ADHD post
This is stunning and makes me want to play through the game again to re-enjoy every quest fully voiced. Best of both worlds - fully voiced AND able to go back and re-read everything in the dialog box and in the Journal, which I liked about Morrowind.
It has been such a blast! Honestly I would have never gotten into morrowland if it wasn't for this mod
@@stevo271I have a question. Is the 50% of mod progress actually dialogues from first half of game story and locations or is it just random?
@@TheRewers78 The main quest and more popular side quests first, then less important stuff it seems.
@@stevo271 Thanks for answer.
I saw a video called "Using AI voice cloning for mod creation" it was for Fallout NV, I think this is a new milestone for the modding community you guys, congratulations on being the pioneers on this.
M'Aiq sounds incredible! Great work, can't wait until the project's done.
This is an immense undertaking and would finally let my ADHD ass play Morrowind without spacing out so much. Thanks for your work!
Me: OMG, fully voiced!!!
Also me: Skip. Skip. Skip.
(Epic NPC Man reference)
I keep rewatching this and my jaw drops just as far each time.
It's over 40% complete now and all of the important NPCs have it. I honestly have become addicted morrowind now 😥
I've been playing morrowind since 2002 and I didn't even know about that dialogue with vodunius nuccius!,can't wait for the finished mod keep up the good work! this is going to feel like a fresh experience.
same, even the end dialogue with dagoth ur, never bothered with it
This is so good! This is a complete game changer for vision impaired people
What’s crazy is because the voices match their source, and because I’ve read some of those lines so many times, hearing them here almost feels like I’ve heard them before.
This is a very promising mod!
This is going to make mods easier for later ES games. You can type anything and the AI will voice act it.
one amazing thing about this demo is.. it actually makes the game look weird for pausing when dialogue is open. it would be cool if the game kept running. unfortunately this would break a lot of things where people change state or stop attacking or warp you mid dialogue. maybe events could be changed to trigger at the end of the dialogue rather than immediately
I think it's the perfect combination. Since it's an AI voice it doesn't seem out of place when reading the lines. Yet the AI is good enough to sound plausible. I've been enjoying it a lot.
This mod will make this game accessible for so many new players. It should be included in the must-download mod list.
Voice lines beyond measure, outlander.
i am so stoked to hear the characters talk holy shit please make this mod complete !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
40% and it's already worth it. Just amazing
Sellus Gravius is ranked as Knight Errant? That's news to me. Most likely because I've played this game so many times and now breeze past much of the text without reading it. Right away, I can see voice acting will open up a new of depth in my understanding of this game's world... This one bit of overlooked dialog stood out to me because *I thought* up until now the rank of Knight Errant was invented for Fallout 76's Steel Reign update. Now I wish I could explore more of this charachter's backstory!
can't wait for OpenMW version. I modded my game so much that the paused no voice dialogues become very outdated in comparison to the rest.
Soo worth it, even without open mw
Awesome! Can definitely use some pauses, but you guys are doing great work.
40% done now. Honestly all the important characters have it.
He's a god.. how can you voice a god?..
This is absolutely amazing. As someone else stated this is the mod. Keeping the core of the game while adding what would have been there if Bethesda had unlimited budget back in the day.
THIS COULD BE USED IN SKYWIND TOOO!
Sorry my overwhelming excitement but I know folks on that project are also having a mountain of a work with voice acting all the lines in the game.
When it comes to OpenMW I am grabbing this mod so fast.
This mod has been a complete game changer for me. I honestly couldn't play more one nowadays without it. I actually chose to try it out without open mw and it's sooo worth it. I use gog so I can have 2 installs.
This is my favorite game of all time, I learned about it from Toonami on CN when I was a young lad. I almost teared up when Sellus Gravius spoke his first lines.
These voices are on point. If you could localize the TTS to generate from in-game text, you wouldn't have to pre-process so much. It is an amazing project, and the voices are on point.
yeah but it would be huge amounts of server side processing. Imagine 10,000 people play the mod, then you have 10,000 people repeatedly streaming the exact same dialogue over and over and crunching it on GPUs, imagine the associated api costs. Or just do it once and let the people download it and play it without internet with no lag
So incredible. Love Maiq 😅 Keep on rocking with this mod..
This sounds amazing I love how the AI makes morrowind voices flow so good.
This is absolutely incredible. Thank you for your work on this. Can't wait until it covers 100% of Tamriel Rebuilt when its completed! Only partially joking..
Sounds great! It would be cool if this works with Morroblivion
Amazing never thought I would see Morrowind with full voice lines
Wait Dagoth Ur is great, and now I want to hear a documentary about penguins in gis voice.
I wish there were more variety in the voices or even only the main NPCs like quests NPCs that you interact with them the most like caius or vivec etc those should have voices that fit there characteristics and background or Neloth you should really bring his voice from Skyrim to this mod
Watching the player use fire spells on dark elves hurt. Lol
Not one of my finer moments lol
What a time to be alive.
it probably wouldn't be too much work to animate mouth movements, they are coded in when daedra speak
Seems like fun, though the script was definitely not written with the idea that it would make sense if the words we spoken aloud. It is definitely wordy and repetitive. Still, this is better than either no spoken dialogue or a fan attempt at editing the dialogue.
I think it is perfect for this game. It reminds me a lot of an audiobook. I've been playing for about 50 hours and I'm addicted to Morrowind now.
This is literally better voice acting than Skyrim and most triple A games.
Would love to get back into the game and try this mod
THIS IS AMAZING.
Thanks for doing this, I will send you a donation after I get my salary
This place.. where voices are made..
THIS IS AMAZING
God damn.!! The only thing left is talking in real time (without menu pause)
wow.. i will go back to morrowind if this gets completed
40% all important npcs have. Total game changer! ( No pun intended)
This is great, can't wait to replay morrowind when it's finished
It's over 40% done and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Most of the important characters have it anyways so it's already totally different game
Fargoth sounds like Ben Shapiro
Listening to Fargoth and all I can hear is Weird Al.
It's like magic. Awesome work! I do hope this gets ported to OpenMW also, eventually.
I'm so glad I decided to try it in spite of not being able to use open mw. It's about 40% now and all the important npcs have it. I can't stop playing!
amazing a game from eons ago can still be playable .. 👍 but for me better bodies and head mods are my go to for replay .....
This is amazing. Thanks for this
Nice, how did you convince Ben Shapiro to dub Fargoth?
you dont.
you just use the AI to replicate voice of ben shapiro and make him say fargoth's lines
This will be fantastic with TR and PT
This is extremely hype, I hope it gets finished one day!
Holy shit Fargoth is actually great lol
Someone needs to do a longplay of the game with this (walkthrough 100% I mean, for some reason they used to be called longplays in the old days of RUclips).
My dream mod would have to be this combined with more personalized dialogue. One of the things about Morrowind that kills the immersion for me is how a lot of the NPC dialogue reads like a UESP article and doesn't really feel like you're having a conversation with an actual person. I would love to see a mod that rewrites the dialogue so that it fits each NPC's background and personality.
Fargoth's is really good
Impressive, very nice.
This is very impressive.
Impressive!
I cant wait till AI voices get better lol. Theyve already improved so much in just this past year since you released this video. But watching this video, just makes me feel like im on a youtube shorts binge lmao. So I wouldnt be able to take it serious in game.
From what I understand, the lines are AI generated and converted to audio files. Given the shitload of dialogue Morrowind has, I'd imagine they'd take up as much hard drive space as Oblivion did when it launched
Its 2 GB pretty big by early 2000s standards but smaller than most modern mods
Yeah it has a shitload of dialogue but remember a lot of them are just cut and pasted. So you only need one audio file for those.
*per voice type
This is amazing, but the dunmer male voice sounds like it could use more raspiness. Did you pull voice samples from other sources of the actor talking? If there's a shortage of raspy dunmer lines to use, there is also Desmond Lockheart in Point Lookout, same actor doing basically the same raspy voice
I've got the dunmer a lot better since those first handful of lines, but they weren't shown in the demo! A lot of them will be redone later :)
At first I thought it was Garrus Vakarian.
11labs does not do so well with unusual voices. Same for ones that have some added effects like echoes.
I mean theoretically you could take voices from the ghouls of Fallout 3 + NV
A cool idea i think with this technology could be to make the books and notes readable out loud, but in the voice of whichever race and gender you pick. Maybe just notes and stuff like that because books would be a lot of gigs.
really cool, maybe slightly change the pitch of some of the more samey sounding voices? just so every imperial doesn't sound like the same guy, idk.
It works for this game though because a lot of the dialogue is cut and pasted anyways. Generic npcs get a generic voice
Plz partner with OpenMW to make this as widely accessible as possible
Great. Just requires a 2x speed setting.
The quality of the voices is honestly incredible. Its indistinguishable from real voice actors. Obviously it must take a lot of trial and error to remove mistakes and awkward readings but this is just completely immersive in the current state. If someone made an updated easy-install graphics mod like MGSO, I would just recommend this game to everyone.
This is a game changer. Anyone w rking on RTXing the game? Remember seeing a demo or something from nvidia.
👍 So close to perfection! Now all the mouth-breathers with low reading skill will be able to enjoy one of the greatest games ever made. Liked & subbed anyway.
if the Morrowind VR experience was fine tuned I would finish the game
I'm a mouth breather and I love it!
This is what made me decide to reinstall Morrowind. This changes everything, absolutely stunning work!
us - 😁
voice actors - 😰
imagine if this game had been released with this kind of technology as far as AI voices. It would have been so realistic!
yo theres an openmw patch for this
if this was on the multiplayer branch i wouldnt have to read the quest dialogue to my homies anymore
Great work! Now all we need is an Oblivion UI and we're all set.
This will actually get me to play Morrowind
This with a couple graphics mods as well as Morrowind rebirth. Makes the game amazing and I have more addicted to it that I was to Skyrim. Which is crazy for an old game.
If only this worked for OpenMW.
Wow. That's cool
That's a weird way to pronounce Cosades
Very cool very VERY cool
The next step is ChatGPT integration like the Bannerlord mod has.
Wow, Fargoth's dialogue is incredible, it sounds 100% legit.
I have noticed that Caius doesn't say your name. Why is that? shouldn't it be possible with AI? btw, this is an incredible job, and you deserve all the support we can give you!!
These are all pre-recorded lines, so the player name, class and race are all edited out of dialogue. In >99% of the lines, it makes no difference to the content, but maybe 15-20 out of the 20,000 lines it requires a bit more of an edit, and that was one of them!
Not unless you want to pay ElevenAI a few cents and wait a few seconds every time someone says your name.
taunt the Daedra
haha YEAH the second morrowind slog is over!!!!
I am new to mods. I installed this through Vortex but it is not working. Can anyone direct me to a detail install process?
Better than some VA
Omg!
woah technology
Nostalgia
WHY IS HE ONLY READING THE FIRST DIALOGUE FOR ME
Hell yes
