that’s from like 10 years ago, but i can see where you’re coming from, sadly mercedes is waaaayy past that point of insane family cars, apart from of course the a45, but that’s not really a family car imo.
its funny because the car makes perfect sense, bringing affordable performance to the ever growing SUV market, this dude is either an idiot or pretending to be one
GLS? 😂 that car in the inside is baby to GLB amg 35 ….its only bigger in spaces you don’t need….I rather spend 50K for GLB 35 and have another 20K for whatever ….and still will have better car
This is probably the best review I've read on it, and I can tell he is very good at what he does. He focused primarily on the drivability of it all and things the average person wonders about- not heating/cooling vents or seat stitching. If he reads these comments, he should focus yet more on the infotainment, which he barely mentioned. Does it work well? Not? He also did the seat comparison to other vehicles, which really helped. He should do more of those where and when he can. For example how does this compare to the NX F? I bet it's no comparison, but I would like to know his thoughts. Again, very well done. I think this came in much lower than the 50k pound mark. This starts at $50k US but then again I don't know the tariff/tax situation in the UK. A nicely equipped model goes for about 55-60 in the US. If you consider a fully loaded Escape goes for $40k US, this probably isn't that far off of the mark in pricing. Still, it's high and most likely will be a low MB production vehicle, even by luxury car market standards. Still yet, if you consider its versatility and the fact you get an AMG and all its trickle down technology, it's probably priced quite nicely relatively speaking. It's all about perspective my driving enthusiast friends.
This is my favourite Sport Utility Xover. No joke it's one of the few truly good ones in the category i'd take over a wagon. 3 Row Seating in such a small car being the killer feature.
GLB is a very practical compact SUV . I believe if they made the design look more like a baby G class it would have obtained more momentum from a marketing perspective. This role is now played by the Suzuki Jimni.
It's madness because the market is mad competitive nowadays, Land Rover never made a fast, sporty version of the Discovery Sport, so Mercedes has a unique offering here to make them stand out. No one else makes a speedy, sporty car for 7 people. The GLB35 is for the family man of at least 3 kids, whose a bit of an enthusiastic driver.
This is a car for car snobs who will spend a premium for the Mercedes badge. The price does give you a YIKES moment. Nevertheless I like it, quirky different and not the “Eurobox” that offers up car styling that gives an uncanny similarity of cars, this is surely not that. If I was in the market for a seven seat definitely worth my consideration
It’s amazing how I’m not a fan of the G Wagon but own the glb, the AMG35 will be my next one, God willing. Don’t get a third row, there’s no room for it, it’s not comfortable. If you have a bad back, you don’t need a soft seat you want a good support. I like the seat, I don’t care the for soft seats. American specifications are different from the European versions.
This is the closest thing we have in America to an affordable fast wagon. This is about as much an SUV as a forester. This is a looow CUV or just a high roof wagon. The 250 4matic is extremely tossable, on decent country roads, and the 35 is even more so. 250 & 35 are underrated as decent driving family movers. Yeah they look and for the most part feel Mercedes where the shine is in the driving.
Just a quick question, why doesn’t the uk version of the glb35 not have the dynamic select scroll on the steering wheel, on the other hand Americans and other countries do?
You're right about the seats. My dad used to complain about hard Merc seats whenever we got a brand new one from the showroom. 😀 However, give them a year or so and they would be perfect.
My mate had one as a demonstrator. the GLB 200 was a great car, would have probably brought one, but Mercedes didn't really make any effort in contacting him to buy one, he dropped it off, said he likes it, never heard anything back. Ended up buying an XC40,
The Skoda Kodiaq VRS is over £10k cheaper and is a much more practical, spacious family SUV which also handles well and is only just over 1/2 a second slower to 60. A cheeky remap can push that bi turbo diesel unit to over 300 bhp although I'd be more tempted to go for an eco map as that would give loads of low down shove Which would probably suit the dsg box better and give something like the effortless torque experience not electric motoring, as well as getting your real world mpg well into the 30's. I actually think they look better than this too, although it's the wrong badge for alot of folks...
one thing benz can do for sure - is making new models, they just non stop generating new models, and it's a bit annoying knowing does not matter what you buy tomorrow they generate 10 new models
Yes Rory! Always highlighting the relevant features & keepin' it real by truth... GLB is not my cuppa tea but I can see what they're trying to do, personally the Cupra formentor seems like a better option even though we don't know what the option is.. lol Always great reviews right here! 😊👍🏾
I happened to own this car for 6 months now, brand new. And yes, everything is on point as per the video. Utterly accurate. Thumbs up to the authenticity of the review. Respect the channel. 🫡
For the money. I'd rather had a GLB300d AMG Line Premium Plus and throw a remap on it. Will be just as quick. But double the MPG. With a chunk of change left over on purchase price.
After spending time in the M-B, was is better to get back into the Formentor? Sounds like it was. 7 seats? 2 are for Munchkins. At 50k I guess you could say it's a bargain since so many cars are heading toward the 100k mark these days. I'm sure they will sell all of them.
Mercedes Engineering:Should give the GLB 302 or 415 horsepower?
Dodge Engineering:How do we make the Hellcat engine fit in the Pacifica?

Love the look but I would want a GLB 45!
So why isn’t there going to be a GLB 45 version, like with the GLA 45?
GLB is a very practical compact SUV . I believe if they made the design look more like a baby G class it would have obtained more momentum from a marketing perspective. This role is now played by the Suzuki Jimni.
I agree on the Jimni comparison 👍🏻👍🏻

Hard to do because the G wagon is alraedy rather short.
@@FalcoBikes not sure id called almost 5m short 🤣

I'd quite like a GLB45. Hopefully they'll make it.
I think I'm going to wait for the glb63 tbh.
It stands and photographs like a Mini Countryman
I really like the design of this SUV
The roof rails gives it mini countryman vibe. Not easy on the eyes ima.

Too complicated and expensive to be a Subaru...
