Congrats... that 8444 is from second run with the correct color trucks and fuel tank. The first production run had brownish trucks. I recall having to get 8444 from second run to get it looking right...
I have the Lionel PENNSYLVANIA NS HERITAGE LEGACY SD70ACE #1854 cataloged in Lionel's 2009 volume II catalog, it has the same wonderful horn that your model has! There is one important thing to keep in mine with all of Lionel's diesels from this time period: If you turn the smoke unit off with the remote, it turns off, but the next time you start it up the smoke unit will power up in low by itself, which could cause batting damage (burnt batting) if fluid is not added before start up, therefore, it is recommended that in addition to turning the smoke unit off with the remote, you should also turn it off in the locomotive! You probably already know this, but I wanted to tell you just in case! Congrats and thanks!
Thanks for the tip usually when I run these off camera I turn the smoke units off with the switch but thank you for letting me know I’ll definitely keep that in mind! I’m starting to add a few of these older diesels to my collection.

@@timstrainroom8007 you can absolutely run it wet I’ve done it before but I just chose to run the car dry to pick up all the dust off the track and use the solution with a rag

So I usually run the car dry and use the cleaning solution with a microfiber cloth. But to answer your question I use ZAP Rail-Zip 2
