  • There are a myriad of apps that you can find to "boost your productivity", by linking tools together, creating backlinks, custom API integrations and more.
The simple approach of using the built in tools is likely the best solution for most people. I have been back to using Apple Notes, Reminders and Calendar now after having some of these complex systems setup. this simple, easy to use productivity suite from Apple is amazingly powerful and free, while still being simple for anyone to pickup and use to get more done!

I thought I was going crazy when I noticed my notes links weren’t working on Mac. Thanks for confirming this. Great overview of your system.

Thanks for watching! Yeah it’s slightly annoying they don’t show up properly on the Mac when linked in iOS.

the Notes and Reminders is now linked on the new Beta updates.
However you have click type to siri on mac while having the note open and say “remind me about this”
    the icons also work now

The biggest thing I want now is integrated reminder in a note so you can remind yourself you took that note when it’s slightly more verbose than a reminder and secondly, the “/“ shortcut that notion and Craft has. That quick menu via the slash is extremely useful.

I’d have to agree, discoverability in apple notes isn’t quite there yet, but they’ve been making great progress these last few years upgrading it! Obsidian has a quick menu as well that was helpful, I’ve never been into notion or tried craft.

Apple Calendar now also shows Reminders on the day they are due in iOS 18.

Mark the title in your note and share it to Reminders.

Huh, weird that this links properly on iPad but not drag and drop!

Informative video 👍. I get on well with all Apple productivity apps but I find Mail a bit of a struggle. I have email accounts for iCloud, Outlook and to a lesser extent Gmail and for me MS-Outlook’s email client UI is more user-friendly. Maybe the pending Mail upgrade will fix it …🤔

I agree, mail is probably the weakest link of them all, but I do still use it. I have tried spark mail and a few others, but I generally treat gmail separately from my other accounts and use the first party client and app. Luckily my outlook is on a separate device so that’s one less complication. The stock mail app has received some nice updates over the years and is pretty good for a simple mail client.

Thank you! Can you drag the note directly onto an existing reminder? When I try, it creates a new reminder each time.

Not that I am aware of, drag and drop will create a new reminder. You can paste the link to the note into an existing reminder and it will work that way.

Similar to notes, you can drag and drop from Apple Mail and get a similar linked reminder! Unfortunate that it only works with Apple Mail though, so I rarely use this feature.

@@BillMcLean yeah, i meant like todoist, from the mail itself, choose to convert it to tasks directly. Or by keyboard shortcut. Without dragging or open another app.
Unfortunately, I use that a lot since my most tasks comes through mail and todoist do wonders there but I deeply want to use apple only products…
I guess I need to wait for more updates. Close there

You can select any text in an email, tap on selection and then in the pop up share it with Reminders. This will create a linked reminder.

Apple Reminder is great on Mac, but on iPhone I have mixed feelings.
It never notifies when a task is due, or maybe I just miss some setting…

Interesting. I get the notifications just fine on my phone. Check your notification settings and make sure they are set to make it clear. Good luck.

With apple notes is not easy to insert photos because there are auto aligned and also you can’t write/draw on top of the image you need to select the image and go to edit mode. I switched to notability and my productivity skyrocketed

I could see how always online pictures could be annoying. I haven’t had too many issues, the new collapsing sections helps that a lot. Glad you found a tool that works!
