    This exercise can be overlooked and somewhat forgotten, but it is actually quite a difficult exercise when performed properly. A lot of my students struggle to flex their spine forward enough and/or rotate their trunk enough to the side in order to get the real crunch. The fact that this exercise usually follows a few other difficult Ab exercises does not help too… Like all rotation exercises squeezing the breath out of you is key for success; when it gets difficult- make sure you are not holding your breath in, but really and truly squeezing every atom of air out of your lungs. It will help your rib cage curl forward and will make your Abs work to their full strength.
