Erik ten Hag made a tactical tweak in recent matches against Brighton and Newcastle. So, what's he done, an will it help them against rivals Man City in the FA Cup final?

Yes it was enough
Here to say "it was enough"!
It was indeed enough to beat city, allthough it wasn’t an easy fixture
I think it worked
2-1
Im proud
So mainly ten hag is playing sean dyche ball
Where are the crosses?
Well, he was confidently wrong. We basically played Arsenal, and should have won. Beat Newcastle and Brighton too. That should have rung alarm bells, but he stuck to his guns.
I'm starting to question Mackenzie's analysis of United. He actually hates us so much, he freely admits it, and it doesn't seem like he can get over his bias
I'm not sure what you're on about. Unless his data is false or he contradicts it, his biases don't matter that much. Bookies gave Man City odds to win of about 75%, so it's also not as if he has a one-man Vendetta against Man U going on.
@@stanvleminckx1109 Oh yeah, the thing that specifically bothered me about this analysis is that he mentioned the xG against as proof of defensive problems, without mentioning the xG for, or xg difference in comparison to previous games, despite us scoring 5 goals in 2 games, which we have rarely done this season (Not even aware of the specific stats, but bears mentioning if you're gonna highlight loss of threat compared to before) . As for why I'm calling him out for bias, it of course has other context. Mainly has to do with him constantly lamenting the Coventry offside decision, on Twitter, on the Athletic Podcast, as one of the worst moments of the season, and giving it as a reason for undermining VAR, despite, and this is unequivocal, it being a correct decision. There are lots of reasons to dislike VAR, I certainly have my qualms with it, but to call it out, and so fervently, for a binary decision that it got right, as opposed to the countless egregious mistakes it makes week in week out (re: Jota offside), or the jigsaw of inconsistencies we are subjected to (re: Maguire "subjective Offside?" What even is that?), is poor from any rando. From a journalist and tactical analyst working for a reputable media org., it is criminal. This is not the worst VAR decision this season by a longshot, but he implied, and unless I'm wrong specifically called it exactly that. Opinions aside, as a journalist, being so vocally critical of something that was done according to the laws, and is not a matter of subjective judgement but a Black and White delineated rule, makes me inclined to think that he has a massive bias against United (massive cause of his initial reaction, repetition, and foregoing of his usual objective analysis in favor of subjective lamentation), and hence scrutinize and question all of his analysis of United. Open Letter to The Athletic done, lol
@@abdulkerimidris7689 open letter hahaha. No worries, especially when we don't expect him to ever face the correct criticism of his bias anytime soon.
Spoiler, it was enough😌🙃
This analysis did not age well ☠️
They already won😊
Look who won🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Turns out it is
Well this aged well 🤣😂🤣
Love the shirt man
Yes sir 😂
yep
Eric Ten Hag's defensive tweak is gonna be enough to beat City
Btw they did
Damned if you do damned if you don't... ETH
When you've been god awful for 99% of the season and it takes you getting battered by palace to realise you're making mistakes it's not 'dammed if u do, dammed if u don't' its dense and stubborn
@@xperialmemphis6039 interesting thing is he has been awful for 99% like you put it and yet he is one of the managers still got a job while managers with a better record are losing if not leaving their clubs, leads one to wonder what do they have lined up, new manager or back him for one more season cause it's clear from my standpoint we aren't going anywhere
2-1 UNITED WON AGAINST CITY
5-4-1 with Rashford at 9 against city
hell no
Oh hell naur go play FM my guy

@@CoCo-cb4dc im right dont play rashford striker
💀 city
I bought this shirt after i saw you wear it on Tifo
Ageing like vinegar. Ten Hag was trialling his approach to the FA Cup final in the games against Newcastle and Brighton. On the day he had two mammoth players in Varane and Martinez available at CB. While tactically it didn’t look like much in the league games, when faced by City, it all became relevant. Newcastle and Brighton aren’t identical to City’s approach, so of course it didn’t look tailor-made. But it was perfect at Wembley.
So ten Hag decided to change his tactics after his team conceded around 600 shots?
Yes
It took him the whole season to figure this out?!
That was my thought!!!!
Yep, it was enough
More than Derby County??💀💀
Yes sir!
Once it's united, there's always hope
My strategy take: MU plays with minus 2 players (18%), because Rashford is useless (he disturbs the team dynamic and movement) + Onana is not a natural goal keeper (he's a football player with some goal keeping reflexes).
My tactic take: the wingers don't assist and therefore miss their primary task. The entire attack line is dysfunctional.
It's a strategic and tactical mess. And MU's matches are a torture to watch.
Thanks to Wilcox, the 4-2-2-2 worked a treat...
Looks like it worked perfectly against City in the cup final!
Maybe a mixture of a bit of both
Yes.
Who do you think you are, I am!
Roses are red, violets are blue.
I am schizophrenic and so am I.
(Frank Crow).
Nah, it's just that United's defence is bad
Yes, yes it was
good, I almost thought you were going to give me something positive about united. Ten Hag will win the game though I can see it.
So they're doing what they did last season after the first 4 games, great. Almost as if the team wasn't ready to play such a drastically different style.
The people praising Ten Hag after he made the tactical tweak it was obvious he needed to make about eight months ago astounds me
rashford would score so many goals at the fa cup final that Southgate will recall him back for the euro tournament
Would be so sweet to see the disappointment when united beat city in the final
Realistically imagine I don't know you are a Tottenham fan for a second you really expect City to lose at this point no disrespect but even City's 2nd team with Ortega, Nunes, Alvarez is better
@@workhard701 this aged well..
@@bolajifashola7126 Yeah I gotta admit Ten Hag really took advantage of City's mistakes though I still stand by it Ten Hag can't even get top 4 next season and I am willing to stand by it
Answer is yes.. this key tactical tweak won them the FA cup
yeah, it did
So, gleefully assuming after a crap season Utd wouldn’t turn up didn’t age well.
You don't worry about it sir!
I think that’s one of the best shirts I’ve ever seen in my life!
No
Edit: I was wrong
Yes somehow I’m devastated as a Chelsea fan
Yes, it was more than enough.
Brutal takedown!
that T shirt is insane
this aged well.
thought this was a vsauce video for a sec and got confused
Great t-shirt.👍👍👍
Nah bro it won't be enough, not even a 2-1 win can save them.. 😵💫
Woah I didn't know Michael Vsauce did soccer commentary videos now! (Also shout-out to St. Louis legendS, The Weber Family 😂)
I’m from the future, it worked so well. United beat them proper.
This aged well 👀
It worked

I almost thought he was vsause.
Yeah it has
Yes
Where is the shirt from?
I just googled "Pete Weber Jr Shirt" and found like 5 places. One's got a sale on now too. Might have to pick it up because that's one of the great lines ever."
Bowling championship, I think.
if players hug the touchline couldnt they counter this strategy? also good vid
yes.
Funny how Ten Hag arrived at Utd as the heir of Cruyff and ended up playing terrorball
Ten Hag the heir of Cruyff? Really? If anything it is Pep that is the heir.
@@1nnu3ndo i said it because he came from Ajax
also if ten hag wants a high press so hard why dosent he use the arteta strat
Because he isn't as clever as Arteta and if, as he suggested himself that it's hard to play his system with all the injuries, why carry on playing it?
Wow.. a 442 in a low block.. what genius tactical aproach, i'm sure ten hag is the first to use it.
Wow
Tbh they've looked soo much better in this new system, especially control wise. The seem to able to create more chances at will instead of relying so heavily on moments of individual brilliance. I think if he hadnt spent the entire season trying to convince himself manutd cant play a controlled style of football like his Ajax did, and which was also th style that got him hired in the first place, he could have refined the play style by now. Kudos to him for trying something new though,a top manager should always have the bravery to try things. Just a bit worrying how he was willing to throw away the entire season trying to force this style despite it being painfully clear it wasnt working.
Yeahh the players can't make the most of it even when they win the ball
This aged like milk😂😂😂
Guys enough of this Man U BS. They're irrelevant do stuff on half interesting clubs
There is an FA cup final coming. I think it’s reasonable they are talking about them
@@emilevangheem6165Ignore it, it's just blind hatred
One would expect them to hate a successful club, but why do they continue to hate a club that's not even dominating anymore?
@jns0808 I don't know, I'm a UTD fan and I agree that we are pretty irrelevant 🤷🏻♂️. I suppose our only interesting features are being in the FA Cup final and the ludicrous number of glaring issues from the ownership, ground, facilities, debt, squad, player attitude, wages, injuries, tactics, results, game statistics and the fact that people still refer to us as the "biggest club in the world"😂.
@@cameronjones8641 We are still top 5 biggest clubs in the world. That's simply a fact
Also the FA Cup final is definitely important enough to be talked about.
You sure you're a united fan?
@jns0808 Yes, I'm just not deluded. Just saying the word fact, doesn't make it so, perhaps you could use some data or proof for your opinion?
What's the average cost of renting a place in your area?
And......they won
Also, brighton really fell off the second half of the season
Man basically used a mathematical approach to tell us we suck.
Too little too late for eth
And they won
Haven't released a single united pod since, disgusting
Going to be 5-1 to the 115’ers
😂😂😂😂 115'ers👌🏼

@@LitoLochoss Oh dear, a sense of humour evade you, does it? Best to leave the wit to people who can count without their fingers champ. 😉

So......they're worse?
Ten Hag can't get any wins with these people
His team is too open. Sit back n be compact
He does that, HE'S REDUCING HIS ATTACKING POWER,🗿
Oops
😂 these stupid videos always never age well. Headass
No it won't
Wouldn't be an issue if David De Gea is the one facing those shots
Another UTD fan hyper concentrating on a single player. First it was Pogba, then Lingard, Ronaldo, Maguire and now Onana. There are a rediculous number of issues with our club and even if Onana was a major issue, our club has killed career after career so give him a break.
Yes it would lol, onana has faced more shots in one season than ddg did in three
@catology4052 Excellent use of statistics to prove your point. Onana was top 5 in Europe before he went to utd. He didn't become a bad player over night. Give him a mobile, ball playing defense and a more cohesive team and he will look world class again.
How wonder y’all are nostalgia merchants.
City is the specialist on breaking the shell of a park the bus system. Who do you think Pep’s ex rival was?
Lovely reading comments after united win 😂
City 4 Utd 1
😂😊that comment aged well.
Is there really anyone who thinks Man Utd will win that game?
I believe that regardless of the result ten Hag must be allowed either another year to continue his project at Man Utd otherwise he should get the Chelsea job and Southgate can get the utd job, everyone wins that way
@@TacitusKilgore165you’re trolling at this point hahahaha. I’m a Chelsea fan and iwl I don’t want ten hag anywhere near my club. I’m not saying he’s not a good coach but the Utd and Chelsea situations are so similar and I don’t think he’d improve us
@marcusmaksym7804 obviously lololololol my condolences it's an absolute disaster over at the bridge too much chaos for my liking lololololol and it's too bad cuz there's alot of young talent with alot of potential and I mean there should be with the amount of money spent! Poch should've been given more time
@@TacitusKilgore165As a Tottenham fan I completely agree Poch with more time could've improved things but now Chelsea are back to square 0
@workhard701 Nobody wants to be patient anymore and everyone expects instant results 😒 I think any project needs minimum 3 or 4 years and too often fickle owners decide they aren't getting there fast enough. Chelsea supporters have every right to tell ownership "you don't know what, you're doing"
City will win 4-0
