To be honest, I really think Getta Robo deserves a remake with new animation. The story and its idea are still fresh even nowadays. It is also the very first series that gives the idea of "3 pilots" combination and different mechs to combine into one robot. I believe this is the origin that fed the idea to even the later transformer series to have combined robots.

I've always found the original getter robo design in Armageddon better than the shin getter. The violence it displays while looking so plump and wearing a cape looking like a superhero produces some dark undertones that the devilman look of shin getter cannot do.
Come on, it’s from the same author, everything is dark with his work, I’m glad there weren’t that many nude scenes in the getter series, there were more in mazinger zero comic.

Getter is the savior and the destroyer as well, every one cross its path are destined to doom, which is darker than mazinger series, the author really like the whole balance idea of evil and good, same idea with mazinger zero.

This is made in the 1998 though, not really that old even by today's standards, and it was made 3 years after evangelion, which, well, this ova animation aren't on par with it animation wise in some aspects, with enough money you can get this type of quality even today, hell most anime back then could only be view as, rough, very rough, like the shitty LN adaptation of a anime JC Staff puts out every couple month but with older art style Also this anime is an OVA for a reason
Dude, this shit's an OVA, do you know what it means to produce OVA during Japan economy bloom? Quality, you get quality stuff, especially when the animator have months to work on it between episode because like I said before, it's an OVA, majority of the TV anime at that time are horrible except a few from the company that have MONEY to make them. Even anime today have soul put into them, oh wait they cannot not have soul put into the production, the animator life depends on it, since it's a bloody ova of the 90's I will compare it to OVA of today, which is almost none except one or two because you guess it, MONEY, well whatever, the example for today's era would be FAFNER THE BEYOND, never heard of it? Of course you don't you uncultured, you don't even watch majority of the old anime so why would you watch majority of the new anime now? Anyways, Fafner The Beyond is essentially are movies split into parts, basically the same as OVA, they got high production, animator got their sweet time animating it and guess what? This anime kind of made me feel like fist of the north star but in robot fighting. If they are human and not robot you will see blood and body parts everywhere. But i miss this series, wish they make more robot series like this one compare to nowadays you see teenage little girls or little boys acting tough pilot a giant robot. We need tough manly man a little bit crazy but super violent character like this for robot pilot.

爬虫人類の生き残りに乗っ取られ、初代ゲッターで戦う漫画あったけど、ビーム一撃の差が歴然の兵器として格上のゲッタードラゴンを、初代ゲッターで凪払うシーンは、本当に爽快。ガンダムのシャーアズナブルの台詞「モビルスーツの、性能の差が戦力の決定的差ではない。」まさに竜馬の為の台詞では？と、思います。ゲームでも、両手マシンガンや、スパイラルゲッタービームを、実装してほしい。
