how are you doing that thing where you press a button and all of your guys just charge whats infront of them?
@undeadsquire782 when you put units in a control group and lock their formation they're attack orders will stay functioning like what you see in this video
@@PaRsIiDaEnhe meant how do they attack multiple units instead of funneling into one unit normally
@Sp3rmWizrd yeah, if you lock the control group, then order a regular attack on a single unit, they won't funnel to that one unit, but instead attack whatever is in front of them (Like in this video). Next time you play, try putting your whole army in a control group, lock the formation, and tell the group to attack. If should work (at least that's how it works on my game)

LegendofTotalCheese, Kislev Bias, Fury, WORKING AS INTENDED, Baneblade Scout Tank, First in Praag, CA DON'T FIX, Bob Semple, Karl Franz, Bringer of Tod. The best tank names I've seen for Warhammer 3.
All led by the man, the myth, the Legend(of Total War) himself, General Patton.
And seeing the Steam Tanks run down all the Wood Elves while all their attacks bounce off the Tank's thick armor as the guns shred everything in sight is beautiful. The Sabaton song Ghost Division would be perfect to play for this doomstack as it rampages across the battlefield.
Baneblade scout tank is my personal favourite

Guderian or Rundstedt could be better cause of whole german aesthetics of the Empire.
Now we need this doomstack against skaven ratling gunner stack for accurate representation of the Maginot line
He is moving a tank division towards the French through the forest and not a line of forts on their borders. This is pretty much a reenactment
Maginot was entirely bypassed. Most sections of it did not put up a flight.
@@Larow17 Wood elves being belgian confirmed I guess. Which goes well in hand with them playing "tall" at home, while having a "hands off" attitude to their colonies.
@@diazinth Wood elves' colonies must be really fucked up then, if the metaphor goes that far
@@RobinTheBotwell, yes, because at that point the order to surrender was given.
Though, those sections which did fight did put up one hell of a fight.
The purpose of the maginot line was to essentially force germany to fight in the low countries, instead of attacking France directly at the franco german border.
And due to politicial problems in france itself, and lobbying from the lowland countries, the defensive wall was not extended to the coast.
Germany didnt win against france because france was stupid, it was because germany put massive effort into preparing for war, while france had internal politicial issues and the matter of war was somewhat ignored. Thats why the french army was so underdeveloped by that time.
Imagine spending a thousand years training in the art of combat to become the best possible fighter anyone could become but then a crazy maniac just casually runs you over with a metal box.
The directional block means 100% of 70% block chance from the front, 50% of 70% block chance from the sides (so 35% block chance), and 10% of 70% block chance from the rear (so 7% block chance).

I think the directional missile block chance means it has 100% of 70% (so just 70%) missile block from the front, 50% of 70% (35%) missile block from the side, and 10% of 70% (7%) missile block from the rear. The missile block by the armor stat is being modified by the percentages of the skill in the at the bottom of the stat card based on which direction missiles hit.
Right, but after a certain armor point (~200?), it just doesn't matter anymore, because missiles that aren't above a certain base damage threshold and aren't armor-piercing will be inflicting 0 damage. Legend proved a couple times using different stats. I remember the physical resistance one was with Cylostra Direfin on her ghost crab - was essentially impervious to any small arms fire. I think the time he did it with armor was with Thorek Ironbrow.
Well this definately proved that 40k Style Tanks will work in a Total War setting.

Thanks for showing off my mad max doomstack. I hope CA doesn't fix this for a while since its not that gamebreaking and somewhat time consuming to do. Also can you comment some more funny tank names below I used all of the ones I could think of for this army and I plan on making some more of these tank stacks. The 3 hero units for this, which for some reason didn't have their names show up properly were Baby Driver, Ryan Gosling, and I don't get paid enough for this(the life wizard who was forced to be an engineer).

The Empires ideal of Steel Faith and Gunpowder is perfectly represented here. The solid Steel hull, the Gunpowder weapons and my Faith in both.
Fully maxed rot knights might be good at taking them out because in my current Tamurkhan campaign, they have 108 speed, which is crazy good for a heavy, anti-large, Armor pirecing cavalry.
And crazy speed still for Nurgle ground units too!
@graljoffrewithoutanarmy860 yeah they can get super fast, but only if you have the techs and legendary heroes
Rot Knights are cracked. Hand some duel 3 units of demigryphs at once and come out with most of their HP.
@ethanwilliams1880 goddamn, but the new DLC units and mechanics are always overpowered. Most likely because CA wants to sell the DLC better
Bob Semple XD
Truely we are dealing with a man of culture.
3:10 i to hate it when its loose always gotta love a tight formation
CA's programming for locked formation is just hilariously wrong lmao I thought it would just make the models calculate the closest distance it has to other models of the same unit to stick to until the formation gets unlocked but somehow CA just decides to make the model calculate one specific spot in the entire unit formation to stick to for some reason lmaooooo
@@oscarstaszky1960 it has to accomodate for you having multiple different units in your formation. Though they could store the formation as "unit type" rather than "specific unit" so they distribute "spots" in the formation according to unit type and distance rather than each specific unit going to the opposite end of the formation every time you 180 backflip.

That choooooooo chooooo while speeding in to their lines Close camera 😂, i was losing it haha
Holy shit the Kislev Bias is such a beautiful joke, I'm stealing that.
You make a Steam Tank Doomstack but dont have it led by an engineer in a Steam Tank?
Seems like an odd choice to have him on a barded horse instead of a steam tank. Maybe Patton liked horses or something? Lmao idk
Lord Didn't have level to use it but true is weird lol
He is learning how to drive still. And better this way so it's more testing the tanks. Wonder if he gets any of the gunnery school bonuses while on tank, would he be the slowest one? Might need Banner of Swiftness. Although, I think it would be more hilarious to see him charging on a horse amidst the tanks.
@@Agentcoolguy1 his lord is level 15, he needs level 20 for the tank
I wanted to have Patton in a steam tank but sadly by the time he would be level 20 all of the wood elves would be mulch and I wouldn't have as great of an enemy to show off the stack on.
"brace for impact!" Blade dancer moments before being run over lol
jesus this is a scary stack.
nice Okoii naming convention
Out of all the doom stacks ive seen Legend cover throughout the years, this one is the most insane to me (not including "bugged" ones like immortal, headless black orks). The way these tanks dash with motorcycle speed is so ridicoulus xD honestly it breaks the immersion for me, they look like modern tanks...
This guy deserves 15/10 for originality in naming these tanks xD
"I cast my most potent spell yet! M4 Sherman!"
Sent in the same doomstack. Admittedly with much less effort than this but killing dwarfs so I feel like that makes it better.
Those renames are gold - especially War Thunder Up-Tier, Bob Semple and Working as Intended.
GG. Interesting. There are 20 individuals in General Patton's army but the end-game summary states 52 deployed and 52 survived. I wonder if this bug effects auto-resolve.
Ballistic plating with directional missle block means you get to watch your tanks block cannons with no scratches on them
We need a "but legend..." Compilation 😂😂 favourite part of any video
It's 100% of the 70% block chance applying from the front. It's not 100% block chance from the front.
Pretty sure it is. I have seen blunderbussies blast volleys into them from the front and they dealt close to 0 damage
i'm pretty sure its 100% from the front, but the models at the edge of the formation probably are just far enough out to where they hit the side
@@olafthemoose941370% missile block chance means that 7 in 10 shots deals no damage so it is possible but I wouldn't put it past CA to make that happy little accident here
@@Larow17 bruv have you read the tooltip? 100% from the front, 50% from the side, 10% from the back
@@olafthemoose9413 close to 0 isn't 0 which is what 100% missile block chance would be. The great book of grudges released a video showcasing the directional block chance by shooting at a tank from all 3 angles with handgunners (so no curved trajectory hitting the back of the tank). It is definitely 100% of 70% missile block chance, which combines with the actual resistances and very high armor to negate a hell of a lot fof damage from the front
The wood elves got uptiered badly

Aloysoius O’Hare vs the Lorax
I knew from the moment they announced the missile block chance way back in the 5.0 patch previews that the Wood Elves were suuuuuper fucked. And after the frustration they've given me with their superior ranged abilities, I have no pity.
finally the franzer division is working
I think the only true counter the steam tanks have are other tier 4-5 large monsters that can bog them down and smash em up, but even then they will struggle.
That was one of the funniest, most fun armies I’ve ever watched
the missile deflection is either one of two things.
"the unit has 100% of its block chance against frontal attacks, less on the sides, almost none on the back"
or
"the unit has 100% block chance on the front, less on sides, none on back"
The power creep has definitely escalated since the big CA Fur-Cup.
I think the directional missile block shows what % of the unit's block chance is applied. So the steam tank has 100% of 70% block chance from the front, then 50% of that 70% on the sides, for a total of 35%

HOI4 at home:
This is the only doomdtack I actually want to build myself. Hearing that whistle as they charged filled me with glee
My understanding of the directional missile block thing is that it doesn't represent the absolute missile block chance but the missile block chance relative to the one indicated by the shield icon.
Which would mean you get 70% from the front, 35% in the flanks and 7% in the rear.
Alternatively, the tanks might still take damage because some shots are hitting them from above, with their not being a block chance for that direction.
This…..this was beautiful!
I literally just did this stack against wood elves in my campaign today, amazingly fun to use
If this was Civilization and I was the one with the tanks, I would still find a way to lose against unupgraded archers.

Directional block is how mucd of your missile block applies. So it's 70% from the front, 35% from the sides and a measly 7% from the rear.
Behold, the Franzer Division. I am Prince, Emperor, and tank division.
tank named "working as intended" is an reference to something that World of Tanks devs used to say. kek
3:45 I interpretted the directional block tooltip to mean: 100% of your missile block chance (i.e. 70%) applies to the front, 50% of your missile block chance (i.e. 35%) applies to the sides, and 10% of your missile block chance (i.e. 7%) applies to the rear.
Tanks for the memory Wood Elves!
On the tabletop, the steam tank was held back by the RNG element relating to its steam engine which could flicker and malfunction at inconvenient times. But as we all know, most people HATE RNG balance and expect everything to work as it says on the tin at all times, so that goes out the window entirely.
