    My 12k btu EG4 mini split makes great heat at 20f... i set it to 90 and the sun gives me free heat until the home ac takes over... and it never goes above 1350-1400w. I love it.

      I really want to get one of those EG4 mini splits. I see everyone pretty much is very happy with the mini split. I have 7 mini splits installed already so it might be a little while before I get one. I love the fact you can run during the day with no inverter or battery bank. Thank you so much for your input.

      Senville mini splits have a great reputation, you chose well when you installed that mini split. 8 degrees is really cold, don’t miss that even though I grew up in Michigan. Hope you have a wonderful 2024 my friend.

    My Fujitsu’s work great. I wouldn’t move my louvers up and down manually like that or you can break the geared motor.

    You are like the cat hoarding lady but with mini splits! lol
    One thing I noticed is all these mini splits are all built in the same factories and the same on the inside just rebranded . I have a Rovsun chugging along happily on the roof of my 30 motorhome @ 70 mph . Being able to plug into a 110 outlet is a beautiful thing

      The mini splits do a wonderful job heating and cooling the downstairs and garage for free in day and on battery bank at night if needed. I run the upstairs 3 1/2 ton whole house heat pump because of the 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a loft. The 2 mini splits upstairs can be turned as well to heat or cool very quickly if needed. Can’t wait to go camping and try out my newly installed mini split in motor home. Still testing off grid solar system that I will install in motor home. Maybe another few weeks of testing, then install. Thanks for the info in your comment, we appreciate it. Hope you have a truly wonderful and extremely blessed 2024.

      35% are manufactured by Gree. There are cheap DIY’er models and quality pro units. You get what you pay for. Most cater to our throw away society. When they break, good luck getting anyone to look at it or sourcing parts.

      @@USA-GreedyMenOfNoIntegrity you are correct, if the unit stops working I will replace with the EG4 unit that is direct solar connection. I will just upgrade. Thanks for your input. Hope you have a truly wonderful 2024.

    Purchase a good quality flaring tool, like Yellow Jacket 60440 3/16-3/4”. Use oil when you form and connect flares. Nylog does not seal at threads, it seals at the flare mating surface.

      @diy-solar-guy  6 месяцев назад

      I used on the threads and had no leaks for almost 4 years now. Next time I will try what you said. Thanks for your input. Hope you have a truly wonderful 2024.

      When they say it seals threads, they mean tapered pipe threads NPT. For threads, Rectorseal 25790 1-3/4-Ounce Tube No.5 Pipe Thread Sealant works great and is $4.18 vs $12-20.

      @@USA-GreedyMenOfNoIntegrity Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. I will look into product. But I have to say, 7 mini splits installed with no leaks and no experience before installing mini splits is a pretty good testament to using the Nylog. Hope you have a truly wonderful and blessed 2024.

    do you get any grief from aps or srp for not pulling much power? Not sure that they could say or do anything but wonder if it shows up from how much you used to use vs after solar? Im thinking about it for myself so maybe its nothing to worry about :D

      My usage slowly dropped over 2-3 years and now stays consistent. Monthly year to year comparison. So it was not a huge drop all at once. Started with one mini split added at a time when I could afford to buy another one on credit at zero percent interest. So I added another mini split every 6 months. They only save you a lot in the summer months from April to November. We rarely use mini split in winter to heat. Same for when we used the main heat pump, rarely used in the winter. With our electric company there is an increases when you go over so many kWh in a month and an increase in the spring and fall along with peak rates in summer. Most people are raising their thermostat higher to keep electric usage down in summer and being miserable. When you install a new heat pump electric company knows your usage will usually drop by 50 percent since new unit is so much more efficient than old unit. Main heat pumps loose efficiency over years. So that is a huge drop just from installing new heat pump every 15 to 20 years. No way for electric company to know you changed main heat pump on your house. They just know when you do and install a programmable thermostat your usage will go down. They want electric usage to go down for home owners. Hope this helps. Hope you have a wonderful and blessed 2024

    • @diy-solar-guy
      @diy-solar-guy  5 месяцев назад +1

      No, we only have electric at our house. So the off grid solar really pays for itself. Some homes out here have gas and electric. Glad I only have 1 bill to pay with all the extra charges they add on. My water bill each month is $55 before I even use a drop of water with all the added fees, pay raises, trash, sewer, etc…

    Would you be so kind as to throw a number (dollar figure) at the amount of equipment you have invested? To me, it appears that you have lots of equipment, but have you recovered any of your investment in all this gear yet? I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks.

    • @diy-solar-guy
      @diy-solar-guy  2 месяца назад +1

      Sure, I have invested around $20,000 over 4 years and will be completely paid off in a few months just from the electric savings. I use almost 50 percent more electricity now that I can produce my own. My house in Arizona is around 68-72 degrees in the summer. Before I had off grid solar I set my temp in house at 81-83 degrees in the day and 78-79 overnight and was miserable considering I worked delivering linen outside all day in a truck with no ac where truck would get up to 160-180 degrees inside. That was so miserable and then come home to a hot 81-83 degree house. Now I’m happy. My pool is heated with solar and swim from March until sometimes end of December. I air condition my garage to 62-65 degrees in the summer since bedrooms are right above garage and pull a hot car in at 4pm and without ac, the garage would quickly get up to 105-110 degrees by 7 pm. Not any more. Garage is 65-70 degrees by 7pm and stays like that overnight. We run our pool pump 24 hours a day. All of this is off grid solar. My electric bill is about $1000 to $1200 a year for grid power. I don’t make my wife do anything different with cooking or washing cloths, any of that type of electric use. My neighbors electric bills can easily hit $600-$1000 a month in the summer with a pool, 2 story house and keeping thermostats at 75 degrees. Their winter bills are now $250-$450 with rate increases. I supper cool my house in the day from 8am -6pm every day then turn off ac until next morning at 8am. House stays below 72 degrees y 8 am. I can do this until it get over 105 degrees in the day, then I use my battery bank overnight for the 3 1/2 ton heat pump to air condition the house upstairs. The cool air drops and keeps the downstairs cool overnight. With the amount of electric we use now, our bill would run $5000 to $6000 a month with no solar. So we have made our money back and now we just enjoy the average $100 a month electric bill. By the way, before adding electric usage, our bill starts around $55 for just base charge and taxes. Electricity has gone from 4 cents a kWh to 18 cents a kWh in the last 20 years out here and will only continue to go up in the future. Thanks for the question and I hope I answered your question to your satisfaction with enough detail. All this was DIY. I knew nothing about solar or air conditioning 5 years ago, so I learned on my own and just started buying equipment and solar panels. Just built to what it is now, but we keep trying new products on our channel with the little revenue we bring in buying more equipment and panels so we can share results with viewers. Hope you have a truly wonderful and extremely blessed 2024.

      I totally appreciate your very detailed answer! And I hear from your answer that you have “Freedom”. Freedom to live like you want to live and not have to make someone else rich to do so. I love that idea. We are building a new house in Florida, and I’ve been chomping at the bit to get my system up and running. I’ve been nervous to get going but I too believe that being able to generate your own electricity opens up so many options. And you can see where the government is going with all this Freedom. For instance, in CA they won’t allow you to be off grid anymore! Yep, it’s incredible. Preventing people from generating their own electricity and not using government infrastructure - never. It's pure communism. I can tell you are a Believer. Blessing to you and your family as well. Will stay in touch. Thanks.
